My Last Hunt

Chapter 43

Headstrong Level One Chaser (part 15)

There was less time for Qiao to make a decision about his condition, probably only two more days. The Guild might only take one or two day to find this out and then he would be kicked out.

If he chose to believe both Linwin and Quipu, they would also leave the Guild with him and become his team but he still needed the backing of a Guild for a while. He needed to reach level three fast.

So he would be forced to join another Guild.

Therefore, his concern now was to find a fine Guild to join when he left here. He also had to withdraw his spoils which should be taken back from the Guild bank but not now immediately. Right after he was done with the hunt today, he would withdraw his spoils and buy a level two weapon for Linwin. He himself also needed a good weapon too, else the team would not be able to survive in the rogue hunting.

When the team leader was standing in front of the desk and waiting for the mission to be assigned, Qiao could hear some chasers talking about the missing team. They were about to report to the Guild.

Usually strong teams can decide to remain in the open forest for the hunt or if the monster was of a specific type, they could risk in waiting for the hunt. Patience was often required to hunt down more stronger monsters.

But for a team to suddenly disappear was rare. Without a sighting by anyone, they were sure to get suspicious.

By the end of today, they will get more suspicious. But Qiao kept his cool and worry-free look and did not bother about the conversation.

The team leader finally got a mission. initially this mission was for the other team but since the team did not show up and also the reception man was beginning to trust that this team was becoming stronger, he gave them an opportunity for this mission.

The leader was very excited to get this mission. The monster was a rumored treasure itself and they would definitely be getting recognition in the Guild and also the spoils would be worth a lot.

Qiao and Linwin walked with the team and reached the open forest, the leader was following the direction and his men were keeping a look out.

"Brother, I don't have much hope from the present situation. What would happen if we are really chased out of the Guild?" he asked with concern.

Qiao heard this and shrugged, "We will join another Guild,"

Usually Guilds don't bother with the internal matters and welcome whoever wished to join the Guild so it was not bigger problem to look for another Guild unless their luck was truly bad.

Linwin's mouth was agape as he heard this. Does that mean brother really doesn't care if the Guild chases them out? Would that not make the whole Guild their enemies or something? The whole team was wiped out and left there in the wild, with no one to help them. Hopefully it does not become a death threatening grudge.

There were many teams who happened to be send for a hunt and they never returned. And the Guild never cared about them so he could hope that this matter would also be handled in the same manner.

But that was just a daydream.

Even if Guild pretended that they didn't care, they would definitely send someone to find out what happened. And when they find that someone had wiped their team, they would check out who was this audacious and investigate his background. If they found it to be someone ordinary, they would undeniably create trouble.

But for Qiao these concerns were secondary.

"Linwin after the hunt, I am going to buy you a second level weapon, be ready to practice with it," Qiao patted his shoulder and broke to him the good news. He could see that Linwin was thinking deeply about the possible outcome of the situation, so he calmed him down.

Linwin was more shocked now, a level two weapon? Ah, he did not have enough spoils to buy one.

"Sigh, I will be using my spoils…" Qiao saw his confusion and shook his head.

"Brother, why will you will buy me a weapon?" he asked still astounded.

"Don't tell me you are thinking to remain in the Guild? If you want to follow me then you definitely need a better weapon than this rustic sword. From now on we will be working hard and hunt more than once in a day," he explained. Then he looked towards the leader who possibly had found the traces and the right spot of the monster.

Linwin eyes were wide open and he silently nodded. He did not answer because the leader was now facing them to give them guidance for the hunt.

"All the team members listen carefully, the monster we are going to hunt today is a horned chameleon. Its size is of six feet and male. The only difficulty is that it can hide by changing its colors. You all will have to remain focused and not get distracted as this hunt is important because all the upper body of this monster is a treasure in itself. On every scale inside the upper skin there are crystals and stones," he explained especially the last part because this way the team would work hard to get this big amount of spoils.

Many of them needed large amount of spoils for various needs. Few wanted to pay the annual Guild fee and living expenses and other wanted to buy a good weapon or send the spoils in the downtown to their families.

Qiao and Linwin exchanged glances as they were also attracted by this.

Though the leader had given them a hint to motivate them for the hunt, but he clearly knew it was not going to be easy. The monster could quickly change its color and merge with the environment. Most of the time a hunter could not spot such a monster even if it was standing beside and glaring at the chaser.

The team carefully stepped forward with caution. They were like those who were walking in the night and trying to find the path to return back.

"If anyone spots the monster immediately let the others know and don't forget to surround it in minimum possible time," the team leader reminded.

This part of the forest was a little damp and thick and due to this special trait it became the habitat of the monsters who don't want to encounter any chaser and also wanted to keep their body humid.

There were endless vines hanging in this part of the forest and most of them were dull and dry. Still the ground was clammy, they could not tell what made it clammy since there was no known water source around here. It might be an underground source.

They were walking near the thick vines when one of the team members spotted two big eyes looking at him straight.

The monster was looking at the chasers with utmost abhorrence, as it chose this part of the forest just to avoid chasers and they still looking for trouble.
