My Last Hunt

Chapter 45

Headstrong Level One Chaser (part 17)

The gooey and sticky tongue was ready to grab the chaser, but Qiao moved in a swift manner out of everyone's expectations. His weapon sliced a small cut on the tongue, even as he managed to dodge the quick attack.

It was so thrilling that the one who was looking at all this happen from the side could hardly hold his shout. For a moment Linwin felt his breathing stopped.

It was not a perfect presentation of attack and defense, still for Linwin it left his hair standing on end.

"Linwin, jump and roll away," Qiao immediately shouted when he saw that the monster wanted to vent out its frustration on the newbie.

At the sharp warning, Linwin just followed the warning correctly. He had grown to trust Qiao's every word so he did as he shouted, even as he felt the slimy tongue go past him.

If he did not follow as soon as he heard, he would not be able to react this fast at all.

He rolled and the tongue was retracted by the monster after getting frustrated with the situation again.

It could not grab and chomp on the chaser, instead he was injured slightly by it.

"Linwin, keep following what I instruct you to do. Grab every opportunity here and you will reach level one soon." As he was the only chaser facing the monster, Qiao himself felt he could reach the peak of level one and if he continued with it, he would be able to step on level two. But if his helper remains at the lower level, he will always be worried for his safety.

Levels meant everything here, so those who will be following him in the journey should be strong too.

"Sure brother, but this monster seems to be raging right now," Linwin responded but deep in his heart, there was still a snake of fear.

The anticipation to get experience and the fear of become food both equally stand along the way in front of him.

Still earning experience and getting stronger was one of the strongest deep rooted wish and cannot be denied.

"Haha, every monster in their situation would be boiling with anger, isn't that right?" Qiao chuckled.

It would be strange if the monsters did not show such reaction in response to an attack from a chaser.

On the other side, the leader finally thought of a rational solution and jumped to attack on the back of the neck of the monster. As soon as he attacked the monster loosened its grip on the chaser and the chaser fell half dead.

They heaved a sigh of relief and dragged the chaser away, most of his limbs were broken because of ruthless grip and the struggle to save the chaser.

After this mess was cleared, the leader ordered others to attack from all the sides and leave no room or opportunity for the monster to counter attack. This would be the best chance to finish this hunt.

As long as they worked with collaboration, the monster would not be able to find another chance.

This tactic seemed to work a little better than the previous situation, the monster soon gave up on the attacking and tried to run but it was too late to run for its life.

The cut open wound started emitting a light glow, as several crystals started to fall off itself. It was a sign that the monster was dying slowly.

The leader and the members of the team were finally at ease when at this time they heard the youth guiding the newbie.

"Make sure whenever I distract it, you have to attack to collect experience," Qiao spoke and immediately caught the attention of the monster. Linwin found this chance and attacked, his meager strength coupled with the subpar weapon, who knows how many attempts would it take to kill the monster.

But he was diligently following as to how he should attack and from which direction he should follow to attack.

It was unbelievable for all the other members of the team. When on earth had something like this ever happened? How long have they been hunting? When had any chaser ever helped his junior the same way?

They thought that their concepts of the Middletown and the Guilds would crumble.

They looked toward the leader who shook his head. There was a huge difference between them and these two chasers. They with their team of five men barely got a hold on the monster and still one of the man was severely injured. While on the other hand these two seemed to be playing with the monster, giving chances to each for tickling it.

Were they dreaming or was it really happening in front of their eyes?

Qiao was still giving advice and Linwin was following, the monster could feel itself being toyed by a newbie and his senior.

It never felt this humiliated to such an extent, a small fry human was toying with it and it was just playing the part of a puppet. If this was not unfair then what was.

Finally, the crystals started to fell. The monster was unable to keep it up any longer. It would be better to die earlier than face much more humiliation of being toyed.

"You did it," Qiao laughed satisfactorily and his eyes fell at the leader and other chasers who were looking at him and Linwin.

Qiao shrugged and gestured to ask why were they looking at them and the leader felt speechless. He has no answer so he hurriedly started ordering others to collect the spoils. Today they had hunted a treasure so there could be a threat of other teams coming in their way.

As for the second monster, the leader was not shameless to claim any share on it. With his decision, the one monster which was killed by Qiao should be divided among the two of them. While the second monster's spoils would be divided according to the normal way.

Qiao heard this and he was immensely happy, if they could keep all the spoils of this second monster, there was no need to worry anything, Linwin could buy second level weapon and the rest of the stones Qiao could save for the expensive level five weapon.

Linwin was also happy because he had finally reached level one and he could feel his stamina and strength beginning to increas because he collected enough experience.

It was because he was the one to get most of the hits on the monster, no other chaser came to snatch the experience.

Linwin helped Qiao in collecting the spoils and later they joined rest of the members of the team.

"Listen all of you, we have to remain alert because two other teams were there when the senior handed me this mission today. I am highly doubtful about their honesty and they might be following us. It is possible that they will be blinded by greed of so much spoils, so remain at guard at every moment, until we reach Guild," the team leader strictly warned all of them and they walked carefully toward the Guild.
