My Last Hunt

Chapter 67

Treasures and Snatchers: Level Three

"Why are you walking at a snail's pace?" Linwin looked behind him and saw the level two chaser dragging his feet to match with them. If this was his best pace then he would be thrown out of the team soon by Qiao the team leader because he did not like lazy team members.

Today they will be hunting a level two monster and its habitat was in a little dangerous place.

The habitat was near the lake. This was a sign that they were probably going to hunt in an underground place. The part which was marked in the information provided was a place located under the ground. And it was mentioned in the information that the monster was probably a water creature.

It was one of the most dangerous type of assignments given to any level two chaser in the history. The monsters which had their element awaken from their birth were more difficult to hunt. These monsters were assigned to those chasers who had tested their potential in hunting certain monster and had certain special skills to offset the elements of these monsters. Such chasers were rare.

The Guild has been keeping those chasers and monsters in a right ratio and only assigned one such mission in a week. But the wicked hunter was keen to make it a life-threatening hurdle for Qiao. Which was why he was assigned this mission.

For the wicked hunter, even if Qiao died now, he would just choose another target for himself to be freed from the curse. But with the rate at which Qiao was growing, it would only be troublesome if he did not stop him now. He not only assigned him a dangerous mission but also a shady chaser who was here to make trouble for him.

Unaware of the trap set by wicked hunter, Qiao was only following the direction which was stamped on the rustic paper.

This shady chaser who had joined Qiao's team was aware that this was his leader's intentions. He was a sly character who immediately understood what he had to accomplish when his leader pushed him from the team. Being aware that the newbie team was short on members, his chances of being admitted to them were high. His mission was to make this team crumble on its feet before they could achieve any height.

Begging for a chance coupled with the timely warning of the wicked hunter, Qiao was almost forced to accept him in the team.

"I am trying my best dude" the chaser answered to Linwin, catching his breath that was true he was trying hard to match with them.

Linwin creased his brows and decided to keep an eye on this chaser. He did not get any good vibes coming from him. Also, facing so many rude people and arrogant seniors, Linwin could not trust anyone other than brother Qiao.

They were yet not aware of the trouble and surprise that were awaiting their team.

The wicked hunter had given them a mission which didn't belong to this Guild. It was from another Guild and another team was assigned to this mission today. The one who was leading the team was a level three chaser with a strong backing of his family of traders.

He has three team members and they were all experienced in hunting rare element type awakened monsters of lower level.

The previous whole week they had been resting, healing from the damage done by a monster of fire element. No matter how efficiently a chaser led his team and the hunt, the damage received was inevitable in this kind of hunting.

Soon the area around them started to appear damp. This signaled that they were nearing towards the lake with every step now. Now they had to move a little cautiously and attentively, aware of their steps and surroundings because the light source was becoming sparse.

The hanging vines from the trees coupled with the uneven path they followed on, it way was difficult to pass through. Qiao could see that if they were to follow this rough direction and arrive at their destination, following this path to return would be quite difficult. This was because the paths were getting too confusing with every step they took forward.

Quipu who was following silently was clearly scrutinizing the direction where they were heading to and the place around them. According to his knowledge about the monsters and their habitat, this path was not a good sign nor would it end up well. He was aware of almost all the monsters of level one to level three and their habitats since he was only given guidance about these monsters. He was not aware about the rare type of monsters but due to his obtained knowledge he could that this place was dangerous.

"Brother Qiao, considering our present situation I don't think we can hunt a level three monster." Looking at the surrounding he felt that perhaps the reception man had given them a mission to hunt level three monster.

Qiao heard this and shook his head, "But the written paper clearly tells it's a level two monster assigned by the Guild." He once again confirmed by looking at the certain words which he could understand.

Quipu listened to him, yet still he was not sure about their circumstances.

"Brother Qiao I am not sure but we have to be careful as this is one of the rarely adventured places of the lower part of the forest. There is an instinctual feeling that this place is more dangerous than it appears to be." he talked about his instinct and what was running on his mind.

Qiao listened to him and took his words seriously. So he stopped and asked, "Are you implying that it may possible…" he left the sentence incomplete because they were now under the ground and could listen to the dripping of water. Their voice also echoed more than it should and he immediately became aware and closed his mouth. They didn't want to alert the monster on any account.
