My Perverse Equivalent Exchange System In Doomsday
Chapter 91 - Strange Bead
"Come to think of it, where were the rest of the Nanjing hypermarket victims kept? There should have been more survivors from the incident," the young man asked while knocking on the glass of the chamber. He found it surprisingly sturdy. It would require quite a bit of force to break it, especially from the inside.
"Yes, the were other victims who were transported to this facility as well. Though, I've not actually seen them myself. This friend of yours was a special case after all."
"Special case? Was it because she successfully mutated?" Long Yu asked while still examining the chamber.
The old man was a little surprised when he heard what he said. However, after giving it some thought, it shouldn't have bee too hard for the young man to guess, considering he was able to find this underground facility in the first place.
"Let's go, there's nothing here," Long Yu exited the room, followed by the researcher.
Just when his foot was about to step through the doorway, they heard heavy footsteps heading their way.
*Dun* *Dun* *Dun* *Dun*
Long Yu could immediately tell that the noise was actually coming from two different sides; one from his left and another from his right.
His thermal vision pierced through the darkness and showed two tall figures slowly approaching them. Standing more than two meters tall and packed with seemingly squirming muscles, the approaching creatures were finally exposed from the dark.
'Wow, these ones look even uglier than the last one,' he thought.
"Old man, I suggest you go back inside and hide," he said to the old researcher without taking his eyes off the incoming threats.
Without him saying any further, the old man had already ran back inside and hid behind one of the chambers.
Long Yu then started firing his assault rifle at the creatures. It was obvious that these things were also byproducts of this facility's experiments.
To his surprise, none of the bullets managed to cause any real damage. Of those that hit the c.h.e.s.t, none penetrated the muscles. As for their heads, the creatures managed to protect them using their hands.
Since this was the case, Long Yu did not hesitate to pull out something with heavier firepower. He retrieved a desert eagle from the system storage and aimed for one of the mutated experiment's forehead.
As if sensing danger from the new weapon, the creature instantly charged at Long Yu in an agile manner.
*Bang* *Bang* Bang*
The muzzle of the hand gun flashed brightly several times. The charging figure stumbled before crashing onto the ground. Despite its erratic movements, Long Yu's bullet had managed to clip the temporal bone on the side of the creature's head, damaging its brain.
Just as he was about to turn around and face the other threat, he was unexpectedly tackled from the back, causing him and the second mutant experiment to tumble and roll on the ground. It seems the creature was really afraid of the weapon and decided to close the distance to prevent him from using it, even to the point of throwing its entire body at him.
During the struggle, the desert eagle had flown out of Long Yu's hand and hit the metal wall nearby. Their roll ended with the creature straddling on top of him.
A smirk appeared on the mutant experiment's face when it realised that it succeeded. Unfortunately, it was also the last expression it would make. The armor on Long Yu's right hand had transformed into a dagger, which directly pierced through its chin and into its brains.
"These things seem to have some intelligence…" he muttered while pushing aside the corpse on top of him.
During the fight, he noticed there was a shocked expression on the mutant experiments' faces the moment he took out his hand gun. Their prompt reaction to stop him made Long Yu think that they didn't act by instinct, but rather because they actually recognised what the weapon was, thus fearing it.
If that was the case, this meant that after going through the human experimentation, the mutant experiments still managed to retain some of their intelligence, albeit just a small part.
*Grrr*
An angry growl could be heard coming from the first mutant experiment laying on the floor.
The bullet from Long Yu's gun had damaged part of its brain causing it to be paralysed on the ground. It could only fiercely stare at its attacker, wishing to tear him apart.
Long Yu crouched in front of the creature and stared into its eyes. However, all he could perceive was anger and cruelty. Sighing, he ended its life with a swift pierce.
'What exactly is this thing?' he examined the green bead located on the corpse's temple.
