My Two Dads

Chapter 12.2

The doorbell rang.

It was on a weekend.

Han Shi Yu went over to open the door.

Then, he saw a man and his son standing outside, smiling at him.

Yue Qi Mo smiled, “Good day, President Han…”

Yue Kao: “Good day, Uncle Han.”

Han Shi Yu blinked for a moment and asked, “The two of you are here for?”

Yue Qi Mo: “It’s regarding…the matter on the internet. I want to talk to you about the specifics and hope you can withdraw the investigation.”

Han Shi Yu laughed a little and said, “”You’ll have to go to operations and personnel about this.”

Yue Qi Mo said, “They…Sigh, let’s not talk about them. I know President Han, you are…more reasonable.”

Han Shi Yu stared at him.

Among the people involved in this matter, the president of Ji Xun had the most authority. Compared to Hai Ting, it was more reliable to depend on Ji Xun.

What was it that couldn’t be discussed in the company and he had to come all the way to his home? Did he really think Han Shi Yu was too young to see through his real intentions?

Han Shi Yu was wearing a home-knitted shirt. He said, “Come in then.”

Yue Qu Mo was delighted. He pulled Yue Kao in and sat down.

Han Shi Yu sat on the couch opposite them. While he poured a glass of water for the two of them, he glanced at Yue Kao, noticing he still had the same debauched image. But when their gazes met, Yue Kao smiled at him like he was offering some form of compensation.

Yue Qi Mo placed the pouch in his hand on the table.

Han Shi Yu: “You’re too polite to have brought gifts.”

Yue Qi Mo opened the small box and inside was a goblet flushed with a soft green colour and faint yellowing due to its historical age. He smiled, “A goblet owned by a Northern Song Dynasty official. I managed to get my hands on it few years ago. It’s the real thing.”

Han Shi Yu looked at the artifact from where he sat, leaning back on the couch and said with satisfaction, “What do you want to say.”

Yue Qi Mo felt like he had succeeded halfway already so he continued, “The remarks on the internet are deliberately slandering me and Hai Ting. Recently, Hai Ting just joined Ji Xun, there must be many pairs of jealous eyes out there. I’m not sure if you’ve thought of it…but there’s a huge possibility.”

Han Shi Yu: “So you mean those words aren’t yours, Yue Kao didn’t indecently assault and hit someone?”

Yue Qi Mo hastily shook his head, “No, no, no. I did go to the school, which is something I need to admit. But some of those words were taken out of context and fabricated with technology. Can’t you tell that those voice messages have a really bad audio quality problem?”

That was because Shang Xue recorded it outdoors.

Yue Kao added on, “That’s right. I only rubbed against that girl by accident. Who knew her friend raised her hand against me…What I did was rightful self-defence…”

Yue Qi Mo echoed after him, “This child was also in a fit of anger at that time. He’s usually quite obedient so he must have felt really wronged by netizens’ remarks and blurted those out without thinking. Sigh…the fault lies with him.”

Yue Kao apologized, “I’m sorry…”

Han Shi Yu looked at the well-behaved Yue Kao, raised his eyebrow and took a sip of the still-hot tea. He said, “Well, then that definitely deserves a thorough investigation.”

Han Shi Yu suggested, “How about looking for the parents of the students involved?”

Seeing as Han Shi Yu had listened to what he said, Yue Qi Mo added on, “Naturally, that is necessary. I’ll go look for them…”

He smiled, “Then how about you…post a statement, President Han…”

Before he could finish that sentence, someone walked down from upstairs with hurried steps as he said, “How is it possible? Have you ever found any loopholes in Qu Di’s firewall?”

The Yue father and son pair turned their heads at that voice, then their eyes widened at the same time and they froze on the spot.

When Yang Mo came down, he saw them and frowned a little. But there was work on his hand now so he didn’t say much about it.

He went back to talking to the person on the phone, “Find the intruder’s domain name…They breached the firewall through the music app link?” Yang Mo angrily said, “What exactly are Hai Ting technicians doing? Get the person in charge to go over and watch their operation!”

Yang Mo hung up the phone and began to put on his shoes.

He shouted, “I’m not coming back at noon today. You and Yang Han, go find something to eat and make do with it.”

Yang Han walked down from upstairs as well and whined, “Dad, can’t you send me some money so I can order some take-out?”

Han Shi Yu’s home-cooked food was hard to describe in just a few simple words.

Xu Jia, who came over to play over the weekend, recalled the amazing barbeque she had last time and asked, “Isn’t Uncle Han good at cooking?”

Yue Qi Mo: “……”

Yue Kao: “……”

Han Shi Yu didn’t turn his head away. Instead, he was smiling while staring at the two people in front of him the whole time with his hands clasped together resting on his knees.

Yang Han and Xu Jia frowned when they saw the two of them and their dumbfounded gazes. They glanced over at Han Shi Yu and realized they were talking about business, so not wanting to interrupt them, they went back to Yang Han’s room.

The air was really silent for a while.

“There’s no need to trouble you on personally looking for the parent anymore,” Han Shi Yu raised his eyebrows and politely said, “Well, is there anything else you want to say to me?”

Yue Qi Mo and Yue Kao’s expressions were really pale. The two of them looked at each other for a moment, all the things they discussed beforehand were swallowed down and not brought up anymore.

After a long time, as the tea was getting cold, Yue Qi Mo stood up and smiled, “We…We won’t bother you any longer. There are still things back at home for us to tend to.”

He pulled his son along and left, walking with their right hand and right foot at the same time.

Han Shi Yu: “Hey, hold up.”

Yue Qi Mo: “Huh?”

Han Shi Yu knocked on the table, “Take your antique along with you.”

The two of them fled in defeat.

Ji Xun and Hai Ting finally announced their decision.

They dismissed ‘Mr. Yue’.

There was an outcry on the internet as people thought it was great news worth rejoicing by everyone. However, there were still voices expressing their dislike for Ji Xun, saying they abandoned their own pawn to protect their marshal and they only did this because they were forced by public opinions.

This kind of voices was impossible to cut off and Han Shi Yu had never cared about them either.

Yang Mo got home at night.

He poured himself a glass of water and said, “I didn’t expect you to fire him.”

Han Shi Yu said: “Of course it wasn’t only because of this. I investigated him and he had been giving fraudulent reports on the staffs’ satisfaction level with him.”

""

He continued, “Half the employees at Hai Ting Music are women and the numbers of female users took up a huge proportion as well. His mindset is indecent and he still didn’t know how to repent. It won’t end well if this was left as it is for a long time.”

Yang Mo nodded.

Han Shi Yu leaned his face closer to his and said, “Mo Mo, are you still angry?”

Yang Mo shot him a cold gaze.

Yang Han, who had been listening at the side in silence suddenly said to Han Shi Yu, “I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”

Yang Mo was stunned. Han Shi Yu went over and rubbed her head, smiling, “What’s going on, lil’ miss…I heard you acted really firm and tough before and I was still admiring you for that.”

After enduring it for so many days, Yang Han finally released all the tears inside of her that welled up from feeling wronged.

She hugged Han Shi Yu and drowned out her sobs, tears and snot by burying her face into his sweater.

Yang Mo’s heart was about to shatter from feeling the heartache as he tried to reach his hand out to pat her head. Han Shi Yu smiled at him and made an ‘ok’ gesture to reassure him.

Yang Mo let out a sigh as his gaze lingered a little longer on them before he went to cook.

After a long, long time, when Yang Han had cried her fill, she symbolically took some tissue papers and wiped the tear stains on Han Shi Yu.

Han Shi Yu handed her another tissue and tried hard to empathize with her, “That little jerk really pissed me off, what good acting he had.”

Yang Han nodded.

Han Shi Yu rubbed and further messed up her hair, which was already messed up from all the crying in the first place. He said, “Who would’ve thought our little comrade, Xiao Yang is so brave. Truly comparable to Big Yang.”

With a nasally voice, Yang Han asked, “How was dad like before?”

Han Shi Yu huffed, “If it was in the past and a little bastard insulted you like that, we would have to go to the hospital to investigate the matter and gather evidence.”

Yang Han broke into laughter and said, “I thought dad…wouldn’t know how to fight.”

Han Shi Yu pointed at Yang Mo’s back in the kitchen and whispered painfully, “Don’t let his appearance deceive you. This man wasn’t only good at getting his hands dirty himself but his taunting and dissing skills were used to the fullest too – it was doubly abusive, both mentally and physically. Fortunately, he mellowed down a lot with time now.”

Yang Han: “……”

Han Shi Yu appeared like he had experience it before.

Yang Han: “You…”

Han Shi Yu recalled his trauma and said, “I experience it once in university, just once.”

Yang Han frowned, “Have you never fought back?”

“The difference in terms of battle power between me and your dad is,” Han Shi Yu said word for word, “If I hit your dad, it’s called flirting; if your dad hit me, that’d be domestic violence.”

Yang Han: “……”

She looked at him with disdain, “Honestly, how did you end up getting dad to fall for you.”

Han Shi Yu said without blushing at all, “By acting spoiled.”

Yang Han: “……”

Yang Han felt like her own ‘Mo Yu’ CP was getting tainted, so she said in disbelief, “Then how exactly did you become the gong???”

Han Shi Yu: “……”

He said confidently, like it was an obvious thing, “By acting spoiled.”
