Nightmare Paradise : Starting as a Doctor

Lynn lowered his sword, breathing a deep sigh of relief. The battle had tested the limits of his body.

If he hadn’t learned the new skill [Swordsmanship], he wouldn’t have been able to keep up with the zombie's lightning-fast attacks and evasions. The skill had honed his sword techniques, granting him enhanced reflexes, speed, and coordination to a remarkable degree. With every swing of his sword, he displayed an uncanny precision and finesse that seemed supernatural.

Wasting no time, he crouched down and plunged his sword into the zombie's chest, making precise cuts to show the core.

There had to be a more efficient way. As a doctor, simply killing zombies went against his role.

Lynn stepped back into the dimly lit room, where Alice was still resting. Seeing the fresh blood splattered across his clothes, she raised an eyebrow.

"That was quite the commotion out there," she said.

Lynn nodded.

He went and sat in a corner of the room, next to his backpack that he had left in this room earlier.

He took out some canned food and a water bottle from his backpack. Opening one of the cans, he handed it to Alice along with some utensils.

"Here, you should eat to help recover more quickly," he said.

"Thank you," Alice replied simply as she accepted the food.

The two ate in silence for a while, focused on restoring their energy after the recent battles and surgery.

As Lynn ate his meal, his mind wandered in deep thought, consumed by the burning desire to find a way to gain experience and level up more quickly.

The question lingered in his mind.

" A doctor's primary role encompasses the tasks of both diagnosing and treating patients," Lynn pondered to himself. "But we're trapped in a zombie-infested hospital. It's not like I can just open a clinic and wait for patients to drop in."

Lynn's thoughts whirled as he pondered his current situation, and suddenly, a wave of inspiration washed over him.

" A doctor's role extends beyond diagnosing and treating patients; it also encompasses a continuous pursuit of learning and researching medical knowledge.” He continued thinking. "The reason I gain experience from the dissection of corpses is because it's an essential part of a doctor's learning process." Lynn pondered.

His thoughts turned to the medical books he had grabbed earlier from the lounge area.

"Those books contain valuable medical information," Lynn realized. "Studying them closely aligns with my role as a doctor. It could grant experience."

Lynn's eyes lit up at this revelation. He quickly finished eating and rushed over to his backpack, pulling out the thick medical textbooks.

"These books may be my key to gaining knowledge and experience efficiently," Lynn thought excitedly,

Alice observed Lynn with interest as he became engrossed in the medical texts.

"Normally it would be impossible to read and comprehend the entirety of these books" Lynn muttered. "But thanks to my Gemini Soul ability, I don't need to worry about that."

Lynn's attention once again turned to the books in front of him. Four medical textbooks lay on the floor: [Medical Physiology], [Basic and Clinical Pharmacology], [Essential Clinical Anatomy], and [Atlas of Human Anatomy].

"It's time to put my special talent to use," Lynn muttered.

"Activate [Gemini Soul]!"

Lynn focused his mind, tapping into the strange duality within himself. His consciousness transferred into the soul of his previous life, observing the scene from above. The world now seemed distant, but his mind became incredibly focused and analytical.

With heightened speed, Lynn began quickly flipping through the pages of [Medical Physiology].

To an outside observer, it would appear he was barely glancing at each page before rapidly turning to the next. But thanks to [Gemini Soul], Lynn was absorbing the entirety of the dense textbook.

In his mind, he could hear the repeated sound of notifications, showing that his thoughts were correct, learning is an important factor in the role [Doctor].

"Just what kind of ability does he have?" Alice wondered. Whatever Lynn was doing, it was clearly outside the norm.

Lynn continued his rapid book absorption, the medical knowledge imprinting itself perfectly into his enhanced mind. Diagrams, formulas, anatomical illustrations - all were ingrained as if he had studied the material extensively over months.

After speeding through all four textbooks, Lynn finally set down the last volume and deactivated [Gemini Soul]. He could immediately feel the difference; it was as if his mind had expanded vastly, filled with new medical understanding.

"Incredible," Lynn muttered in awe, flexing his hands as if seeing them anew. "It will take time to fully process everything, but the sheer volume of knowledge I've absorbed is staggering."

Seeing that all his attributes reached 10 except constitution, Lynn hurried and grabbed the bone blade zombie core that was nearby.

Without hesitation, he began rapidly absorbing the energy, guiding it to enhance his constitution. The invigorating essence suffused his body, reinforcing his muscles, bones, and organs. Lynn could feel his endurance and resilience increasing as the energy circulated.

After consuming two-thirds of the core, he heard the notification sound.

Lynn nodded with satisfaction as his constitution attribute increased to 10, equal to his other stats. Having balanced attributes would provide an advantage in battling the dangers that lurked in this nightmarish hospital.
