2. Ugly Slave

Exercise was for the slaves to bask in the sunshine, to exercise their body and relax. After all, a strong and healthy body was the treasure of their owner. Meanwhile, the exercise was the freest time for them, they could do anything they liked and go anywhere they wanted to go, even leaving the city was all right.

However, they should never hold the thought of running away, because the slaves with the mark of “奴” or “隶” on their face were slaves forever, once being caught, they would be killed by their owner. Besides, they only got one hour to exercise, when the time was up, they must return to their operating post or where they lived, otherwise they would be severely punished.

On hearing the order to exercise, all the slaves in the hut rushed out like a herd of wild horses.

Bao Ye sleeked to extract his soul out of the body by his spiritual power, however, his soul was like being rooted in this body and could not be released.

“What’s wrong?”

Tried twice again, Bao Ye still failed to extract his soul out.

Now as all the people ran out of the hut, Bao Ye had to rise up and walk out following the crowd. The crowded conditions really shocked him.

All the male slaves were dressed like him, wearing a pair of loose cropped pants with the upper body naked, while the female slaves wore one more piece of cloth to cover their upper body. The old and new scars were all over their bodies, with mark of “奴” or “隶” on their faces. The “隶” is the higher level of “奴”.

After they left the hut, some of them played ball games or cards, some gathered together to build up their bodies, and some male slaves would find their female partners to enjoy their sex life.

However, these were all things on the surface.

Bao Ye remembered that his foster father had ever told him, the period between the year 1900 to 2023 on the world calendar was the most suffering and dark era for the slaves, until the Slave War abolished the slavery did they get their freedom.

Thus, in the years he lived, there was no slaves, which triggered his curiosity towards this era.

Bao Ye looked at Deacon Lin, who was holding a whip.

According to the memory of the original owner of this body, Deacons were born with superpower, which was the extraordinary legacy from the gods.

In history, hundreds of millions years ago, the gods were the creators of the world, as well as the master of creatures in the universe. They were all-mighty, knowledgeable, who were even excluded from the Three Realms, free from reincarnation, and immortal. However, after millions of years’ evolution and major wars among realms, the ancient gods had fallen one by one. They were locked out of the incarnation, and their souls dissipated in the universe.

The god’s power on the earth became turbid and was weakened gradually. They could never conceal themselves, and appeared in the human’s visions, entered the human world, and married with human beings. The children of human and god were called semi-gods.

However, the gods did not recognize the identity of the semi-gods, thus the semi-gods could only live in the mortal world. As generations’ passing down, the semi-gods had grown in number and replaced human being in the end.

The power of semi-gods decreased with generations. Up to the present, most of semi-gods owned no power as human beings, but fortunately, the minority amount of semi-gods’ power could be wakened. The world was divided into three little worlds: upper, middle and lower.

The upper world was the realm for the real gods, who were pure-blooded and all-mighty; the middle world was for the semi-gods with parts of superpower, while the lower world was semi-gods with no superpower, who were viewed as slaves of the upper and middle world. Thus, the lower world was teased as Slave World.

At the very beginning, the semi-gods in the lower world were all free and enjoyed happy life. But with the increasing desire for power of the awakened, the lower world fell under their domination. They restrained the freedom of those powerless semi-gods, and turned them into slaves.

The slaves were divided into super inferior, inferior, middle, and top.

The super inferior slaves were people without working capabilities, who were viewed as the guinea pigs. The inferior slaves were responsible for heavy labor work, while the middle slaves cared for the daily life of their owners, or fight with their lives on the arena. They were treated better than the inferior slaves: at least they didn’t need to worry about their clothes and food, and their punishment was lighter than the inferior ones.

The top slaves were people with superpower, but they were not strong enough to enter the middle world. Therefore, they still worked for their owners. The deacons who watched the slaves were top slaves, with “隶” marked on their faces. For some top slaves who were reluctant to work under their owners, they would join other top slaves, set up an organization for trading.

The big brother of the original owner of this body was one of those top slaves who did not work for their owners. Thus he was capable to change his younger brother, the ugly slave, from super inferior to inferior.

Noticing the staring from Bao Ye, Deacon Lin turned around and looked at him. With his lips intendedly curved a little, he snorted, lift his fingers into his mouth, and blew a loud whistle with his superpower. All slaves quieted down and stared at Deacon Lin.

But Deacon Lin walked towards his dormitory as if he hadn’t done anything just now.

Other deacons all returned to their dorms following him.

The slaves were confused and asked, “Why they all go back?”

“Maybe Deacon Lin has something to talk about with other deacons.”

“Now the deacons all left, does it mean that we can do everything we want?”

Hearing their gossiping, Bao Ye suddenly had some kind of bad feeling.

Du Peng seemed to get the intention of Deacon Lin, he turned to Bao Ye, who was standing at the door of their hut, and squeezed out his words between his teeth, “Ugly—Slave—“

Feeling the anger from Du Peng, the slaves around him all stared at Bao Ye, among them, the slaves who had some unhappy history with the ugly slave were all evoked with anger and killing intentions.
