9. God Bless They Are all Alive!

Translator: Guy Gone Bad

Taking a careful look, the deacons found that it was Bao Ye.

Although deacon Zhu did not believe that the ugly slave was capable of doing that, he still thought it was Bao Ye’s trick, so he asked at once, “Ugly slave, did you pull them all into the water? What did you do? Why are they still down in the water?”

Bao Ye walked onto the bank leisurely, while pulling back his wet hair from his face. His action looked so casual and handsome, but with the dim light shining on his face, the whole scene was horrible and terrifying.

He looked at Deacon Zhu with a face of innocence, “I just showed them I can live well without my big brother’s cover.”

Actually, what he did was not much. He merely applied his superpower a little to speed up his swimming, and set a seal on the river surface after everyone was pulled down. But the seal would only disappear when someone among them got suffocated and was at the edge of death.

Deacon Zhu, “…”

This slave was no longer a pushover like he had performed before.

At this moment, the splashing sound spread from the river, the slaves in the river floated up on the river surface like dead fishes.

“Ahem…Ahem…” They all coughed heavily.

Those slaves who hadn’t lost their consciousness by suffocation breathed hard like they were sent back from the hell.

Deacon Zhu shouted right away, “Hurry, save them.”

The deacons and drivers rushed into the river and pulled those slaves in coma to the bank, then applied extra-cardiac compression and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to them.

Other slaves collapsed on the ground, shivering, after getting on the bank. The feeling just now was so desperate: they couldn’t float up from the river no matter how hard they struggled. On thinking of this, they couldn’t help shaking. The severe pain and scorching feeling of water invading into the lung haunted them. It was so painful and so desperate.

That kind of feelings was so horrible, nobody would want to experience once again.

Fortunately, when they felt themselves from running out of strength and nearly lost their consciousness due to oxygen shortage, they suddenly floated up.

God bless they are all alive!

After waking all slaves, Deacon Zhu ordered other slaves to help carry them onto the trucks.

When they saw Bao Ye, who was playing with a little twig in the backend of the truck, the slaves were overwhelmed by fear. The weird thing in the river must have something to do with him.

“Ugly slave, it was you who pulled us into the river, right?” Du Peng rushed in front of him and asked him angrily.

Bao Ye ignored him.

“You…”

“All get onto the truck.” Deacon Zhu interrupted Du Peng’s words and drove everyone onto the truck. On their way back, all people remained silent. Except for Du Peng, nobody dared to neither glare nor disdain Bao Ye.

After returning to the hut, Deacon Lin walked to Deacon Zhu and asked, “Why do you come back so late?”

Deacon Zhu cast a glance at Bao Ye, went aside with Lin and told him about the drowning incident.

Deacon Lin’s eyebrows twisted together. “Are you sure you are not mistaken?” He asked with a tone of disbelief.

“All the slaves except him all got drowned. Who could it be except him? Do you think if he has awakened his superpower?”

Deacon Lin snorted, “According to his characteristic, once he awakens his superpower, he would already run to try if he could enter the Middle World first. Even if his superpower was not enough, he would never stay here. Why would he come back with you?”

Deacon Zhu thought what he said was reasonable. But how to explain the group drowning thing?

Although Deacon Lin doubted about the thing Zhu told him, he also couldn’t help looking over to Bao Ye in the hut.

Taking over the dinner passed to him, Bao Ye passed it to the old man beside him, Jiang Yu.

Jiang Yu was a bit stoned there.

“I already had dinner at the construction site. This bowl of rice is yours now.” Said Bao Ye.

In fear of Bao Ye playing tricks on him again, Jiang Yu hesitated for a while. But finally his hunger conquered his fear, he took the bowl in his hands and quickly stuffed the food in his mouth like he was afraid Bao Ye might change his mind. Only after that did he finish his own share.

The rice in the bowl was coarse, only sided with several green leaves and a small spoon of pickles. But in Jiang Yu’s eyes, they were delicacy. For inferior slaves, this was already the best meal, and he felt full for the first time since he was born.

Jiang Yu burped and put down his bowl contentedly, only finding that Bao Ye was looking at him lustfully..

He roused himself and quickly picked up his bowl and held it against Bao Ye.

“Are you full?” Bao Ye winked at him and uttered some misleading words, “If you are full, you must get the strength to do some physical work.”

Jiang Yu only felt his ‘chrysanthemum’ tightened and threw the bowl at Bao Ye.

Bao Ye knew that he got misled by his words, so he laughed while dodging.

The slaves in the hut heard the laughter and looked over at them.

On nine o’clock, the deacon turned off the light and asked them to sleep.

Since Bao Ye had transmigrated into this era today, he still couldn’t get used to the hard bed board as well as the smelly quilt. He felt hard to fall asleep, and began to listen to those slaves’ pillow talk.

They were all gossiping about the weird drowning thing today. Most of them guessed that it was Jin Lingrui that helped the ugly slave secretly. Jin Lingrui announced that he cut off his relationship with the ugly on the surface, but he still couldn’t forget about him.

The more Bao Ye heard their chatting, the more he was sure that he had ever heard this name. But he could not remember the details.

Gradually, the chatting was replaced by snores.

Bao Ye, who couldn’t fall asleep, stood up as quiet as a mouse, and walked out of the hut.
