Chapter 4 - Salamander!

When I was thinking what to do I saw something interesting. It was small piece of gold next to the riverside. I wanted to go and get it but before I arrived there, some other thing took it away.

It was a red salamander or some reptile creature I don't know of. The red salamanders mostly have smooth skins and are covered in small black dots. Also they are quite small, a.d.u.l.t salamanders rarely even reached 18 cm in length. This salamander on the other hand is scaly. He is covered in rough scales. Also it was quite big. It's length reached almost 120 cm. And he was also ten times bigger than salamanders I read about.

Also it was not scared of me which is weird as I'm a lot bigger than it. Heck, I'm even bigger than normal humans. I stopped and started to observe this Salamander. It went near the piece of gold and opened its mouth. Fire came out of it and the salamander started to use that fire to melt the piece of gold or so it seemed.

From his actions I have a guess of what it wants to do. I'm not hundred percent sure but maybe he wants to increase the purity of gold. When he summoned that fire it gathered the mana particles and ignited them making a fire. Mana can strengthen the body so it means it could also increase materials purity.

After thirty minutes the gold melted and he started to cool it. The final product was a smaller but more shiny piece of gold. After modifying it salamander started to walk towards one direction. I followed it. After ten minutes he arrived before the small cave.

I used my supernatural power of creation that I would now call Creation magic, and made a small scouting droid. I used it and see what is inside the cave. Inside the cave I saw many more salamanders and few stacks of gold. I also saw one salamander trying to get the gold and put it into his stack which ended in that salamander dying and his gold being divided by other salamanders. After observing them for many more hours I came up with a crazy theory to explain everything.

First of all not in any book that I've read have I learned salamanders hoard golds. But there is one creature in mythology that hoards gold and is quite similar to these salamanders than to real salamanders I read about. And that creatures are dragons, Western/European dragons to be exact. European dragons are legendary creatures in folklore and mythology among the overlapping cultures of Europe. They mostly guard gold and kidnap princesses. And the greatest similarity is the use of fire. Dragons are known to control elements and fire is most prominent of those elements. And if these salamanders ever evolve they would look like dragons.

But this does not make sense. Why is salamanders turning into dragons in this "New World". In my old world they were just creations that people blamed misfortune to. This world doesn't even have humans(except me).

After many hours thinking about it I came up with a theory. This theory is all about relationship of me and the big tree. When saving me my passive analysis magic infused my blood and body to create a strong enough tree that could purify the radiation creating mana. My body literally was inside the tree for many years. What if during that time my emotions and memories somehow was connected to the mana. This world is highly reliant on Mana as Oxygen was replaced many thousands of years ago. Every animal in this world breaths in mana every day and uses it to strengthen their bodies. If my memories somehow mixed with the mana, it could explain the many similarities. I'm not that sure but I have to give it the try. I know mana is connected to my mind as I received my analysis magic after contacting radiation which is more corrupted form of mana.

I used my Creation magic to create a small metallic dragons. I made them circle the hole many times. At first salamanders were alert of metallic dragons but later they started ignoring them. After a month no progress was made and it continued for the next three months. When I was giving up one particular salamander caught my eyes. Everyday he would look at the flying metallic dragons and stretch out its claws to try and reach the dragons. Knowing about it I made one of the metallic dragons fall next to that salamander and left it there.

During this month I thought about my goals and finally found something that could help me waste time. As all my previous life I spend reading about history. I also wanted to be part of it. That's when idea came to my mind. The idea was to create the library that would contain the history of this new world. I would experience every historic moment and make them live forever in my great library.

You may think it's easy to do so but you have to also consider my lifespan. I really don't know how long I could live so I have to first find the way to increase my power or at least my lifespan to have time creating greatest library. It was possible for me to live millions of years in the big tree but if I stay there all the time I could miss the good history materials.

It took me two months to build a library. For such a grand building I need a suitable place. I placed my library on top of the big tree. Right now this world has only little number of flying creatures so somewhere high was the most safest place. And if salamanders evolve into dragons I could use them to protect my library.

After I finished with the library I went towards the salamander cave to see that salamander interested in dragons. When I arrived there I saw an obvious difference between salamanders. The normal salamander looked same as before. But there were also some that had big bumps on their back as if they tried to grow wings. This supported my theory and made me expectant as I could research many mythological creatures but it also made me worry about the future of the world. If this world is shaped from my memories then that means that worst living organism would too be born. Those wicked creatures that destroyed the old Earth and sadly I'm part of that race.
