Other Dimension's Knight

Chapter -1 - Side-Note: Excalibur's Background

Excalibur was never really a sword.

It was one of the main power of Gaia to defend against the threats she faced during a time were there wasn't even any life on the planet. During the time where the first signs of life developed, she had to use this power many times against the other planets that wanted to destroy these tiny and fragile beings that were being born on the Earth because they themselves apparently couldn't have any of them.

The real power of Excalibur could destroy easily a planet and it was basically another aspect of also one of the power of the planet Mars. She protected the beings being born on her body against any threat, she treated those things as her childrens, both plants and tiny animals.

They grew over time, and she didn't need to defend that much them as the other planets abandonned the task of destroying any life on Earth. The first gods, the most powerful were born on earth. They weren't really beings, they were mass of consciousness that would copy the beings present on earth. They were extremely powerful as in the end they were just another part of herself.

Gaia didn't care for this, all she cared about was the beings being developed on her physical appearance.

Unfortunately, the gods grew arrogant with their strength. The beings were gaining sentience and gaia was overjoyed, the gods also followed suits, and began to rebel against Gaia. She then cursed the gods and the whole first generation of gods died by her hand. Not too long after the second generation was born but they were much, much weaker...

A couple of accidents appeared during these times but it only made the beings populating the earth stronger in the end. They somehow achieved a balance between plants and animals, much to the joy of Gaia who wished that things would stay like this forever.

But things went out of her control while she was in bliss with her childrens. The second generation's nearly most powerful goddess Tiamat, was betrayed by her own children after they betrayed their own father aswell. And from her body they remodeled the earth to their d.e.s.i.r.e, wishing to create more powerful and sentient beings so that they could grow stronger aswell, as strong as the previous generation. Although they didn't nearly have as much authority as the previous generation, they believed that if they could create stronger beings on earth, then they could copy them and then become as strong as the previous generation. Gaia wasn't too bothered by the god's action, but what happened next was the total opposite of what she wanted.

The environment grew weaker with the body of Tiamat being used on the earth, and the beings on it aswell. The balance was destroyed. The gods went nearly mad seeing what happened. The beings were growing in number, but they were weaker, so their power was weakened aswell.

Gaia once again destroyed the gods and thus ended the second generation of the gods.

Gaia was sad with the current situation, but although the balance was lost, the current situation wasn't that bad either.

She then forced the third generation of gods to be much weaker than before. As they spawned, they decided to do one crazy move. They selected one race of species and f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y made them gain sentience. Many gods were destroyed in the process, but in the end they managed to create a race that would thrive and that they would be able to copy. After they did that they took the appearance of this race and gained a lot of sentience, nearly rivalling the second generation not in power but in wisdom.

Ea was one of the most powerful of the third generation, and for reasons that nobody knows, he separated the heaven and the earth with a powerful tool. This severely weakened the gods. They now needed to use spiritual forms to enter the earth and they couldn't stay forever. Ea disappeared right after this event, the gods couldn't even seek vengeance and some believed Gaia was the one that did that, but with no proof they could only lament...

The weapon though stayed, and since nobody could wield it to its maximum potential, they simply kept it away due to its power.

Gaia meanwhile grew interested in the beings that were given sentience by the gods. They were called humans and did many interesting things. They grew in number and kept creating to fill the lack of power they had. She thought that the balance could once again be reached with these beings.

The humans grew in number and extended their race to the entire world. They created socities and so on ... Gaia didn't limit them too much at this point and let them grow. She even blessed a special clan back when they were still primitive tribes and they became her agents. They were far stronger than normal humans and they were only known to the gods and the leading figures of the humans.

But the gods were jealous of the power Gaia gave them. The third generation of the gods had already ended and although they gained wisdom everytime the humans did, they were once again much weaker. It was to the point where they couldn't even get down to the earth without possessing a human or donning a human hide, basically weakening themselves greatly.

Although the story of this clan is for another time. During this period another different type of beings were created, the fae. Although they were weaker than Gods, they weren't known from humans and liked the humans very much. They gave minor blessings to the ones they deemed worthy without them even knowing about it. And though these blessings were extremely weak compared to the one the gods were giving, it still angered the gods and a war happened.

Surprisingly, the fae although weaker than the gods, were much more intelligent as they didn't need to copy the humans, and they created a separate dimension where the gods couldn't enter to protect themselves. Gaia was actually the one that created the fae, and it was a representation of her interest towards humans. She didn't want to help them too much, so that was why the fae was weak.

In the end the fae wanted to retaliate against the gods that persecuted them, and they stole a fraction of the power of Gaia and put half of it in a sword and used the other half in the sheath.

Thus Excalibur and Avalon were created. Gaia realized it but didn't really mind about it. It was only a tiny fraction and it helped greatly the fae against the gods. But then again, the fae were also protector of humans and nature, so they didn't chew more than they could, or they didn't want to take the place of the gods so they just used Excalibur to defend themselves. The gods had to stop the fae hunt in the end after they lost too many of the gods.

Many things happened in between but in the 5th century in Britain, the fae having lost the purpose of using the sword and the sheath a long time ago when the age of the gods ended, gave both to a worthy human called Arturia Pendragon.
