Aizawa Mika’s viewpoint, Part ② :

Tōyama, Kurashima, and Taniguchi were told that they were to go to school the day after the incident to be told that they had been placed on home leave until their punishment was decided.

I was finally able to talk to Marika face-to-face, and after asking her for more details, I got the general gist of what was going on.

Tōyama had snapped at Kurashima and Taniguchi for repeatedly slandering him in front of Marika. Tōyama was at fault for the violence, but Kurashima and Taniguchi also insulted Marika, so all three were placed on standby at home awaiting disciplinary action.

When asked by the teacher whether what was written in the group chat was false or true, Marika said with regret that she could have denied that she and Tōyama were having a dating session if she could have proved that she was a virgin.

Hearing this, I realized how much Marika cared for Tōyama.

——Well, he got angry at her without regard for the fact that he might get suspended or expelled for her. Of course she would fall in love with him.

But that feeling is a love that grew out of a situation like the suspension bridge effect, so it may cool off quickly. I will keep an eye on that in the future.

After the incident, our caste was also affected. This is because Kurashima, the central figure in the classroom, is on house arrest and may be subject to some sort of disciplinary action. Several students had been dissatisfied with Kurashima for some time.

I think those students would not want to be seen with the same person. So some students left one group and joined another.

I was no exception to the rule and had no regrets about my previous group and started working with Marika, Tōyama, and Okita, with whom I had become good friends.

Okita is a girl no matter how he looks. Isn’t he prettier than me? I almost lost a little confidence in him. He was very much a girl’s man, not a boy’s man.

When you talk to him, Okita is always neutral and gets along with everyone. That doesn’t mean that he is a beauty on all sides. He was a trustworthy boy, just as Marika missed him.

It seems that the punishment for Tōyama and the other three was a week of house arrest. I don’t know the details, but it seems to be a light punishment and not disadvantageous for college entrance exams, employment, etc.

Marika was relieved to hear that. I too was glad that she got off with a light punishment. Frankly, I personally would like to see Kurashima and Taniguchi suspended. No… Do I think they should be expelled? I think they are doing it to deserve that.

Since then, Marika has been talking about Tōyama every day.

Marika is so happy to talk to me with her heart in her eyes, saying that he was angry for hee, that he was cool, and that she can’t wait for him to come back, but I wish she would put herself in my shoes and tell me the same thing every day.

Well, I was surprised when I heard Toyama say “I’m going to kill you” when he lost his temper, but now that I think back on it, I think it might indeed be a cool line.

He protected himself for her.

Like a prince on a white horse protecting a princess? Well, Tōyama is far from a prince on a white horse.

◇ ◇ ◇

Before the first day of school, the day Tōyama’s suspension was lifted, he quietly entered through the classroom door. His face seemed a little tense.

Marika entered shortly thereafter. They must have met up with each other on the way to school and came to school together.

However, I had forgotten that Kurashima and the others had also been released from house arrest. When Marika had a near miss with Kurashima, I was chilled to the bone, but relieved that nothing happened.

Many students in the class looked at Tōyama from a distance as if he were a tumor, but this incident seemed to have made some of them rethink their views. These people were talking to Toyama. It was a sight I had never seen before.

There is widespread talk that the group chat posts are also false, so at any rate, I am glad that Tōyama is not being treated as a bad guy.

I was worried that if he was made to look bad, some kind of damage might be done to Marika again. I’m sorry Tōyama, but Marika is the most important thing for me.

It is lunchtime and I am having lunch with Marika and Okita. Tōyama seemed surprised that I had joined this group.

Just as Marika was freed from the spell of caste, I was also liberated. I am grateful to Tōyama for that.

「Tōyama, please keep protecting Marika from now on.」

I thanked Toyama for protecting Marika and told him he would continue to look after her.

He silently affirmed, but I don’t think he realized that I meant to say hello to him as Marika’s boyfriend as well.

Well, they’re not exactly lovers yet, and it still seems like Marika has a crush on him.

After talking to Tōyama, I found out that he did not seem to have any kind of romantic interest in Marika. Marika is attractive even to me as a woman. Are there any boys who are not interested in her?

Tōyama was somewhat of an enigmatic male student. I became interested in him, who was not dominated by Marika either.

From now on, I cannot take my eyes off of Tōyama and Marika. I look forward to seeing how their romance will turn out.

◇ ◇ ◇

It was lunchtime, and as usual, Marika, Toyama, and Okita were sitting around their desks eating lunch.

「Tōyama, are you free after school today? How about we all go to karaoke together?」

Marika invited Tōyama to karaoke.

I wanted to go to karaoke too, so I said yes.

Marika recently invited Tōyama on a date to see a movie. I’ve heard what she said at the time, but it sounds like she advised him to coordinate his sober clothes and cut his hair.

It is true that the image has been refreshed and the shadowy image of the past may have been shed. That doesn’t make him good-looking. However, personal appearance is important, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a shady guy or not. I think cleanliness is very important.

Perhaps Tōyama is trying to change a little for Marika. I think it’s a good trend that she is influencing.

For karaoke, Marika invited Takai-san, another sober person like Tōyama, to go with her.

I have rarely seen Marika talking with Takai-san in the classroom, but she seems to talk rather a lot in the library.

For some reason, Marika seems to want to be friends with Takai-san.

The girl, Takai-san, looks like Tōyama. She has pitch-black hair and thick-framed dark glasses that hide her face and make her look inconspicuous.

It was easy to see that she was a beautiful woman. I got the impression that she was a girl with something on her mind, hiding her face and deliberately acting inconspicuous.

During karaoke and on the way there and back I would observe Takai-san.

This is a woman’s intuition, but I saw passages that made me think she might be Marika’s rival. Not that I could tell where, but in some places I got the impression that she was giving Tōyama the benefit of the doubt.

Takai-san is a regular at the library and has had contact with Tōyama for some time, so perhaps she and Tōyama are closer to each other than we realize.

Here, Marika, Tōyama, and Takai-san have made it impossible for me to take my eyes off of them.
