Outbreak Chronicles: Dead Pandemic

Chapter 351 - Crate of the Dead (II)

Just as planned, we carried out the mission to take the van from the horde. The undead was quick to the uptake as soon as they noticed me and Mr. Suzuki from above and tried to reach out to us. That's when Souichi and Mr. Tanaka provide support fire and mowed down all the other undead that tried to attack us, giving us a free clear on who to attack and who to just ignore.

As I execute the remaining undead, we finally cleared up the surrounding undead that was currently surrounding the van. Mr. Suzuki tried to open the two doors from the passenger's seat and the driver's seat but both doors are closed. He even tried to open the sliding doors but to no avail.

"F*ck, these doors are jammed. I think I have to destroy the windows for this."

I quickly stopped Mr. Suzuki from doing so. "Watch my back."

Without saying anything, I took out my lockpick that was attached to my keys and quickly pick off the lock. It is a normal lock so it only took me 10 seconds to open it up.

"There, now let's get to work," I said to Mr. Suzuki.

He didn't say anything and quickly went inside to work on the engine. It only took him a few seconds before I heard the roar of the engine coming from the van.

"We are lucky this time, the van has a key on it. Let's get going and take those two down."

Hearing the success of taking the van, I signaled the two to come down the building. Using the grappling hook I used to get down, they slide down from the rope and went down without problems. As soon as they landed on the ground, they quickly gun down all of the undead that started to attack us. I also retracted the grappling hook out from the building and quickly joined the others inside the van.

"Floor it!"

Mr. Suzuki didn't take any second thoughts and steps on the gas, making the engine of the van roar and throws off all of the undead in the area targeting us. We bȧrėly have enough time to wear any seatbelts which made the ride a lot bumpier.

"F*ck, my nose!" Souichi cussed as he bumps his nose into a hard surface. I don't know where he bumped since I bȧrėly managed to hold anything and almost fell down to the floor.

"There is no helping it, just put your seatbelts on since this will be really troublesome and I don't think I will be trying to soften the speed! The undead are all just swarming this van and sooner or later, they will tear this car like scrap paper!" Mr. Suzuki yelled.

"Hey, did you check the fuel? We can't afford to be stuck in this hellish place due to this thing running out of fuel!" Mr. Tanaka reminded.

"Don't worry, this will last enough and we won't be stopping anytime soon unless an external force stops us," Mr. Suzuki ensured.

"Just ensure we will arrive safely to our destination without a hitch, we can't afford to just die here, after all, we have been through and surviving countless of Night Rage just to die in the morning in the red zone," Souichi said.

"..." I just remained quiet and observe the situation. I believe in the abilities of my companions but that doesn't mean we can't be overwhelmed by the undead and no matter how skilled they are, as long as the dead starts to overwhelm us, it's not going to be a good thing.

"I can see the crate up ahead! It's densely packed with the undead. Are we going to go around it or we should smash through those bastards?" Mr. Suzuki asked.

"Can this van hold out if we crash this to them? Isn't this going to destroy the engine?" Mr. Tanaka looked worried.

"Is there anyone in the vicinity of the crate aside from the undead? We can't afford to also crash through to those people who looked like my parents and kill them accidentally," I said while trying to make out and see through the densely packed undead horde.

"Unfortunately, I don't think I can see anything ahead of these pack of undead without crashing into them. If we want to see what is up ahead without crashing into any living being, we have to risk our lives to get out of this van and check out the situation above the car," Mr. Suzuki said. .

It looks like it is impossible to see what is happening outside without going out. Even though I wanted to avoid crashing to the crate, we have no choice if we want to take the crate. Also, I think this is the safest bet. The two people who looked like my parents might no longer here. We took a lot of time getting here and when they were still here, the undead horde just cleared up so if they are still here, they might have already cleared this place. Seeing the area where the crate was is still densely packed by the undead, the possibility that they left is high.

"There is no choice, let's crash this to the horde and take the crate back. After that, let's get out of here."

"Roger that," Mr. Suzuki said and steps into the accelerator and move the car forward.

BANG BANG BANG BANG!

Dead bodies started to crash to our windshield as Mr. Suzuki proceeds to crash through the undead real hard that the car's windows are now dyed in red and we can't see any single thing except the red splatter of blood. The wipers are useless as they can't even wipe off the blood, they just make it worse and smear the blood all over the windshield.

THUD!

"Let's clear up the trash as fast as we can and grab the loot out and get out of here," I commanded as I slowly open the door and aim my gun outside. If we need to return alive, we will have to empty all our bullets and go all out in here.. It's a do or die situation.
