Max rubbed his eyes and yawned, he petted both the heads of Zweilous who had evolved 2 years back during a fight with Steelix.

He smiled at them and got out of bed and began changing into a tight green sweatshirt and blue jeans.

He called Zwielous back to its pokéball and headed to the door. As soon as he opened it he found Lance standing in front. The ageless servant scanned him and showed a proud expression as he seemed to be remembering the years that they had together and the results of all that hellish training he had put him through.

Max smiled at him and said "Ready Lance? The years sure flew by didn't they?"

The servant nodded and began speed walking down the stairs, "Since your parents are still asleep I'll make breakfast and wait for you to come back, make sure you don't take too long."

He nodded and began running out the door, after he was sure he was hidden he teleported outside the professor's lab and ran the rest of the way to make sure that he was seen by the cameras. When he reached the door he was about to ring the doorbell but before he could the door opened and out came a kid with brown hair and a blue sweater.

Max sighed "Here we go."

Gary looked at him with an annoyed expression "What are you doing here?"

Max took a deep breath and talked himself down a bit "Be the older kid Max, this dude is just in a bad phase he'll turn pretty chill when he realizes his mistakes."

He looked at Gary and answered, "You know why I'm here, I came to get the starter pokémon that the professor told me to get the other day."

The kid nodded and then looked at a clock that was inside and turned back to Max "It's 2:50 in the morning, it's too early for you to get your pokémon, now scram and come back later."

He was about to close the door but Max put his foot in, not allowing the door to close, "That didn't seem to affect you much did it?". He pointed at the pokéballs that Gary had in his pockets. The kid gave him a smile "That's just the benefits of having a grandpa in the pokémon business."

Max smirked and nodded "Great, now since we are talking about benefits, I'm just going to go in and cash mine out. You know the benefit of arriving early as the professor says, the early bird catches the worm." He grabbed the kid and lifted him aside and went in. "Professor Oak are you here?"

After a few seconds, the professor poked his head out of the entrance "Oh Max I knew that you were going to be early hehe come right this way." The professor took him to a circular machine and when they got closer the glass opened up and revealed 2 pokéballs "My grandson already chose Squirtle so you have to pick either Bulbasaur or Charmander. Do you already have one in mind?"

Max nodded and took the pokéball that had a fire emblem on the machine "Course, the best pokémon to go with, which is Charmander."

He brought the Charmander out and revealed the 2ft tall orange lizard that was standing on two legs and had a flame at the end of its tail. Gary began laughing and caught the attention of the professor and Max "I'm ahead of you already Mr. Genius, everyone knows that water types have an advantage over fire types."

Max began petting the small pokémon and scratching its chin "I'm going to put you back into your pokéball and bring you out later okay? The cute orange lizard nodded "CHAR, CHAR".

After the pokémon returned to its pokéball Max stood up and nodded at Gary "Yeah that's the case, but whoever said that I was worried about you? Anyway thinking about all that when we just began is a pain, I got Charmander because he's more convenient."

The brown-haired kid began shaking his head and tossed his pokéball up and down "Stop making excuses Max you made the worst choice, if that flame on Charmander's tail goes out then it will die, and it so happens that my pokémon can easily make that happen."

He yawned and looked at the spoiled kid "That might be the case now, but after he evolves that flame will become so hot that it will simply evaporate your water. He will also have the ability to fly which will be pretty handy for transportation, and not to mention that I won't have to worry about getting campfires started haha."

The stubborn kid seemed to ignore everything Max had just said so he simply sighed and looked at Oak "Thank you for everything sir, I'm going back home to let my parents meet Charmander, and then I'll start my journey."

The professor nodded and smiled "That's good Max, I wish you luck. Oh, by the way, are you going to wake Ash up? I bet you that kid is going to be late like always."

He shook his head and looked at the old man "No I won't, even if I really want to, he has to take responsibility and learn from his mistakes. All I can do is help him when he really needs it but even then it has to be pretty serious. We decided to become rivals the day we met so I can't be babysitting him all the time, I take competition pretty seriously after all."

Gary got annoyed and left the room as he said: "Both of you and Ash are losers and are not worth my time."

The professor ignored his grandson and smiled at Max as he handed him 6 pokéballs and a red pokédex "That does sound like you, do you want me to call Cynthia?

He shook his head "No I already talked with her about it the other day and she said that she would be going on a trip around Sinnoh. That was after she said that she wanted a 6 on 6 battle for me to win her heart. You should have seen that evil smile she had on her face hehe, she seriously enjoys making me suffer."

Oak began laughing "I gotta say I don't think I'll ever again hear another child talking about women troubles at this age."

Max just shrugged and said his goodbyes "Cya around professor"

The old man nodded as he stood outside his door waving at the young red and black-haired kid running in the direction of his house.

When Max got home Lance was cooking some scrambled eggs, "Sup brat, how did it go?"

He shrugged and yawned "Just like I expected I was there earlier than the rest and was able to pick out the one that I wanted. Still though I had a run-in with that annoying Gary but it's fine."

Lance turned around and gave Max an evil smile "You know that we can give him a little scare, it's well past due."

He shook his head "Nah he's useful to give your future stepson that push he needs to improve."

The servant gave him a sarcastic laugh "real funny Max I kinda gave up on that, no matter how hard I tried she never saw me that way. Even if I don't age that doesn't mean that I want to waste my time, besides you know me I'm more into women that are a little more forward."

Max laughed "Right that's why you make me transport you to Viridian City every now and then."

"Shhh that's something I don't want your parents hearing haha"

Max laughed and pointed at the servant "I just never thought that Lancer, the heroic spirit that I read so much about, is making me breakfast hahaha."

Lance gave him a smirk "Brat don't forget that even if you have improved a bit you're nowhere near my level. That means that even if we are gone you and I will still have our daily sparing."

"Ummm any way did you let my parents know that you are leaving?"

The servant nodded as he put the eggs on plates and placed them on the dining table "Yeah like we agreed I told them that since you were leaving you gave me the inspiration to go out and seek out my past."

Max nodded "Good, I want you to meet me in the Pokémon Center in Viridian City If for some reason I'm not there then just wait there till you see me."

Lance nodded and sat down "Wake your parents up, I'm sure that they are going to want to spend as much time as possible with you."

Max ran up the stairs and knocked on the door "Mother, Father, It's time for you to wake up. After a few seconds of silence, he heard Lex "Give us a few minutes we'll be down soon."

Not much time passed before his parents sat done with a sad expression as they looked at him and Lance. He brought out Charmander and Zweilous and introduced the orange lizard to the family. His father stood up and began inspecting Charmander, after a few seconds he sat back down and nodded "He looks nice and healthy, still I'm happy that you got a fire type hehe. That way my son can follow in his father's footsteps and become a pretty good blacksmith."

Maria smacked her husband's head "Don't go limiting our son's potential like that".

They all laughed and began to eat. After an hour he decided that it was time to leave and put on his backpack. When he turned around he saw the watery eyes of his parents, he gave them a strong hug and together they walked to the road that led to Viridian City just like they did to Lance the first time he left town.

They hugged him again but this time his mother didn't let go, after both his father and mother let go of him he began walking towards Viridian City.

After he was away from sight he teleported back to the forest and began waiting for Ash to show up. He decided to spend the time on top of one of the trees while petting Charmander. About an hour and a half later Ash finally decided to show up. He put the sleeping Charmander away and began to follow the spiky-haired kid.

Max found it funny how he was seeing everything happening live in front of him. After Ash threw the stupid rock and started running away from the flock of Spearows. The kid jumped down the waterfall and Max couldn't help but smile "That damn kid has some guts."

He lost the kid but kept on following the flock since in the anime they were able to find him again. The Spearows were flying above the water so he couldn't follow without using his teleportation. Max could see Ash and the orange-haired girl from far away so he decided to teleport in the water near the shore as soon as he saw Ash peddling away.

He quickly brought his head above water and gasped for air, catching the attention of Misty who at the moment was watching the Spearows chase after Ash. She quickly ran towards him and helped him get out, that's when he got the idea to do something stupid.

Max pretended to be unconscious as the girl dragged his body then she dropped him and began applying pressure in his c.h.e.s.t every second. After seeing it wasn't working she hesitated "What is going on today, first I fish out a kid with his injured Pikachu, and now this one appears. I really don't want to do this but I can't let him die". She pinched his nose and gulped a breath full of air and used her mouth to help his body 'receive' some oxygen.

After a few seconds of having her repeating the process, he opened his eyes and gave her a slight hug. As soon as she felt his arms around her she pushed him to the ground and yelled at him "What the hell do you think you are doing?"

Max coughed up water that he teleported into his mouth and then slowly stood up and touched his lips and smiled at her "That was my first kiss you know."

Her face turned red and she stomped on the ground "That doesn't count as a kiss, it can't because if it does then that would mean that it's….." her face began to turn into a darker shade of red.

Max touched his lips again and finished her sentence "It's your first kiss as well?" She looked at him with hatred but then nodded. Max was laughing so hard on the inside, he loved seeing her fl.u.s.tered.

He got closer and took her hand "I would love it if you and I could spend the rest of our days together, I mean after we get to know each other of course. You saved my life and that isn't something that I will forget."

She quickly took her hand away and lowered her head shyly. It lasted for only a minute before she returned to her regular personality "This is the worst day of my life, first an idiot steals my bike and then another my first kiss.

Max laughed "Well technically the one who stole the kiss was you since you are the one who brought our lips together. I don't mind it though, I mean my first was with a cute girl who saved my life, the only thing that I regret is not knowing you better."

Her anger seemed to subside and began to show her shy appearance once more as she blushed. "What were you doing in the water to begin with?"

Max sighed and laid down "Since I started my journey today I decided to fish for some pokémon. What I didn't expect was that the first one that took a bite from my hook would be a Gyarados. It pulled me in and well here I am hehe."

She inspected him closely and nodded "That seems possible, well anyways I have to go and get my bike back from a kid that took it without asking."

He looked at her and pretended to be surprised "Let me go with you, I might not look it but I'm actually pretty good at defending myself.

Misty gave him a glance, blushed, and mumbled: "Yeah right if that body of yours doesn't look like it then I don't know what would."

Max gave her a confused look and asked: "What was that?"

She quickly shook her head "Nothing, I just said that you should remove your sweater and shirt so that you don't get hypothermia".

Max nodded and quickly took them off "Thanks I didn't know about that."

She blushed as she took several glances. Max smiled at her "So do you have any idea where the person who stole your bike is?"

Misty nodded and pointed at the road that he had seen Ash take "He went towards the city to take his hurt pokémon to the pokémon center."

She began to walk away and he followed right next to her, he could feel her gaze every now and then. When he had thought about how to get Misty, Max came up with one conclusion and that was that he would have to be bold. She was different than most since she was a lot fiery and as soon as she didn't like something she would hit someone.

If he played it cool then it's most likely that things would never develop and she would just friendzone him so he decided to just go for it and hope for the best. As they were walking by suddenly a storm appeared out of nowhere. Misty began running faster and Max followed. After a few minutes, the storm began to dissipate and soon they reached her roasted bike.

She puffed out her cheeks and began stomping the ground "That stupid kid went and completely destroyed my bike!!!"

She turned around and found Max looking at her with a smile on his face "what are you looking at!"

He walked forward and picked up the bike "I was just taking a minute to see how cute you look like when you get angry, anyway let's go and find the idiot that did this."

She nodded and began following him, after a few minutes of silence she asked: "What's your name?"

He turned around and smiled "My name is Max and yours?"

"I'm Misty"

He nodded and looked at her "I like it, Well Misty I hope that we get to know each other well.

She smiled at him and nodded "Back at ya Max"

The sky began to clear and then a rainbow appeared, both of them stopped and Max got an idea. With an evil smile and without turning around he said "A beautiful Rainbow on our first date that has to be a sign."

He expected her to say something back but instead, she stayed quiet which surprised him.
