The Strongest Fox-Demon (78)

Bai Yi’s face turned cold. “Mind your own business! Who the hell are you?!”

The Daoist master flicked his horsetail whisk and shouted sharply, “Evildoer! You dared to open a pharmacy. So, is the plague on the outskirts of the capital your doing?”

Just like the monk who accused Bai You indiscriminately, this Daoist master also randomly pinned the blame for the plague on Bai Yi’s head. Bai Yi sneered disdainfully. “If all decent people have your virtue, that would really be a shame. You have no idea how much merit I have accumulated by treating patients and saving people. What about you? What else can you do besides accusing others wrongly?”

The Daoist master had never received a scolding from a demon, but her accusation found its mark. This instantly annoyed him and he got angry. “No wonder Zhuang Yulang came to ask for help. You deceive the people and disturb the mundane world with your demonic words. Unforgivable! Die!”

The Daoist master attacked Bai Yi, but instead of hiding, Bai Yi flew forward. She pinched him by the neck and asked, “What did you say? Did Zhuang Yulang ask you for help? What kind of help did he ask for? Tell me!”

“Presumptuous!” The Daoist master struggled to break free, threw several talismans, and attacked Bai Yi repeatedly.

Although Bai Yi didn’t know as much martial arts as Chu Xiang, she was also a great demon who has cultivated for nearly a millennium. Within a few moves, she subdued the Daoist master again and asked him, “What did Zhuang Yulang say? Does he know that I am a demon?”

“Cough-cough-cough…” The Daoist master was strangled and could not breathe. His face soon turned red, and he said with difficulty, “He…begged me…to catch a demon…”

Bai Yi released him, feeling a buzzing in her head. She felt in a trance. Zhuang Yulang asked a Daoist master to catch her? Why? Just because he found out that she was a demon? Or… Was it because she was no longer his noble person and was useless?

The Daoist master took advantage of her distraction, took out the magic weapon his master gave him and hit Bai Yi hard. Bai Yi fell from the roof with a pained cry. She covered her chest and lay on the ground, coughing violently several times. She nimbly rose back to her feet to escape the Daoist master’s pursuit.

Her heart sank heavily. She stared at the Daoist master coldly and when he attempted another fatal move, she faced him head on and slapped him on the forehead. Her voice echoed glacially, “I know you. You are the disciple of those two bastard Daoist masters. Relying on some cultivation, you enrich yourself through crooked means and harm the people. Let me teach you a lesson today. There are some people you can never afford to offend!”

As soon as Bai Yi finished speaking, a huge wave of demonic force surged through her palm into the Daoist master, crushing his dantian!

“AHHHH——” The Daoist master screamed, spurting blood almost instantly. He flew out like a kite with a broken string and hit a large, thick tree.

His cultivation has been abolished, and he was no different from ordinary people from this point forward. Bai Yi did not spare him another glance. She turned around and floated to the roof, and then blended into the night. To be merciful to such a person who wanted to kill her was tantamount to suicide. Nonetheless, a conclusion must also be made on Zhuang Yulang’s side.

Zhuang Yulang was pacing back and forth anxiously in the room. Bai Yi appeared next to the oil lamp without a sound and said, “Are you waiting for news that I’ve been captured, or that I’ve been killed?”

“Ah!” Zhuang Yulang yelled and almost collapsed in fright. He stared at Bai Yi who suddenly appeared and retreated to the wall.

Bai Yi walked towards him slowly and asked expressionlessly, “You asked that stinky Daoist master to arrest me. Why? Did I treat you badly? Did I hurt you?”

“N-No…”

“Then why? Tell me why?” Bai Yi approached him step by step. Her heavy footsteps felt as if they were stepping on her own heart. Bit by bit, little by little, it was as if she was trampling on her heart!

Zhuang Yulang was so frightened that cold sweat soaked his head. His back was pressed against the wall and he moved towards the door tremblingly while stammering, “I-I didn’t. I was afraid that you g-got stained by something d-dirty. I just asked the Daoist master to help me check you out. That’s right. I didn’t ask him to capture you. I just asked him to see you. Y-Y-You…”

“You’re lying.” Bai Yi looked at him squarely and asked him her final question, “So what if something dirty stained me? So what if I’m a mortal or a demon? I’ve always been me. I’ve treated you well, given you the Snow Lotus Pill, earned money to support you and your mother, took care of you and compromised even when I condescended to do so. I even voluntarily backed off when you wanted to marry another woman. Have I not been good enough for you? You didn’t want me, so I saw myself off. Why did you still find someone to deal with me? Is it because of that pharmacy? Do you want to kill me and seize that pharmacy to hook up with the magistrate’s daughter? Did I get things right? Is that what you think?”

Her series of questions almost drove Zhuang Yulang’s three immortal souls and seven mortal forms away. He replied in horror, “Mortals and demons are different. You’ve been around me for so long. How do I know what you’re up to? A demon should not have been here in the first place. T-Telling the Daoist master was the right thing to do…”

“Let me tell you, I’m good enough for you. Can’t I treat you well? I’ve never done you any harm.”

“If you are not of my race, your heart must be different! Demons are masters of deceiving people. If you have no other intentions, why did you treat me well? Why did you stay at my house and even want to marry me?” Zhuang Yulang felt sick at the thought that they almost got married. If his wife were a fox, what would become  of him? What about his future children?
