The Strongest Fox-Demon (87)

To drive people to hate demons, Prince Qi even sent Daoist masters from the Daoist temples to catch demons with low morals and drove them to cause trouble in the world. This move indeed made the people hate and fear demons. Unfortunately, Chu Xiang and Bai Yi gathered a lot of demons for their relief operations, and so there were many of them near the capital.

After Chu Xiang heard news of demons stirring trouble, she sent her demon subordinates without delay to patrol and guard the capital. Within two days, all those evil demons were eliminated!

The number of demons has increased, and the Daoist masters and monks of the temple naturally came out to catch them. The situation instantly became tense. The demons on Chu Xiang’s side all have the magic talismans she gave. They could also ask her for help when they were in danger. Thus, these people were left with no means to deal with them. During this period, Chu Xiang saved people from fighting with the Daoist masters several times. This made Chu Xiang appear all the more unfathomable, resulting in them feeling anxious to join forces with someone to deal with Chu Xiang.

Of course, the demons under Chu Xiang’s command were all good demons who were willing to do good deeds, devoting themselves to cultivation. After she was informed of the movements on Prince Qi’s side, she merely ordered the demons to carry out charitable deeds. Be it major or minor matters, they only had to help people solve their problems in a high-profile manner and let people know that they were following the “Celestial Maiden”.

The appearance of the demons was more beautiful than the other, so they were undoubtedly conspicuous when they appeared in the crowd. However, when they kept doing good deeds without asking for rewards, they were naturally impressive. Upon further inquiry, the people found out that they were all under Chu Xiang, but all they felt was limited to amazement and understanding.

Only the Celestial Maiden could have such benevolent subordinates, right? Only the Celestial Maiden would order them to help the people for free and carry out charitable deeds, right? They also heard that the Celestial Maiden’s sister was still in the south for relief efforts. The Celestial Maiden was truly a living Bodhisattva!

Prince Qi sent people to expose the identities of several demons in public. Some people were terrified, but there was also a child who had just been saved from the edge of a cliff who cried out, “So what if she’s a demon? She saved my life! She is my benefactor!”

The child’s cries were so incendiary that the child’s family, relatives and friends were the first to accept the demons. Although they still couldn’t help but shiver deep inside in fear, if it hadn’t been for that certain demon, their child would have been gone forever! They certainly couldn’t return such kindness with ingratitude.

With one, there were two. Although people were beginning to feel uneasy about the fact that there were many demons under Chu Xiang’s command, the vast majority of people who have been saved and helped have sincerely spoken for them. For a time, the impression of demons to the people was not only terrifying and daunting, but also kind.

Prince Qi’s shady moves were counterproductive, infuriating him. At the same time, he was struggling in court. He had always regarded himself as the next emperor, so he had been increasingly daring in the past couple of years. The courtiers who followed him gained a lot of benefits, especially the imperial concubine’s family. Needless to say, there were sketchy transactions that should never see the light.

Li Yufeng closed in on him step by step. Taking advantage of the relief operations, he investigated all the officials related to those corrupt officials, dug out one secret after another, uncovering a series of confidential matters. Even the nephew of the imperial concubine was sent to prison by him!

Prince Qi was driven to a frenzy and personally went to the royal temple to ask Grand Master Ming Jing, who had been in seclusion all year round, in an attempt to get him to step forward and stop Li Yufeng from using demons to seize power.

Grand Master Ming Jing looked compassionate. He poured a cup of tea for Prince Qi gently and said with a smile, “Your Highness, not all demons harm people. Fortunes and disasters are determined by the will of the Heavens. Mortal power can’t change them. Why don’t you follow the will of heaven and live in peace, Your Highness? Perhaps, it can ensure the safety of your future descendants.”

Prince Qi’s expression changed. He stared at him and asked, “Grand Master, what do you mean?… Is this Prince bound to lose?”

Grand Master Ming Jing raised his palms and closed his eyes and said a word of blessing, “Amitabha, the heavenly secrets must not be leaked. This is the extent of what this old man can say. Your Highness, Prince Qi. please go back.”

“You!” Prince Qi held his anger in his chest, snorted coldly, and stomped away.

Grand Master Ming Jing was a master enshrined by the royal family, so of course his ability was the strongest. He actually implied that he could not seize the throne. How could he not be angry?  It was impossible for him to give up. At this juncture, Prince Qi only believed in “My fate is up to me, not the Heavens”, and was determined to go all out against Li Yufeng.

After years of planning, he was unwilling to lose to Li Yufeng irregardless of the cost, even if it meant everything he had!
