The Strongest Fox-Demon (95)

The two Daoist masters in the Daoist temple were guilty of treachery. They refined the elixirs that harmed the emperor and supported Prince Qi in a lot of his shady dealings. If Prince Qi could not rise to the throne, they certainly would not be at ease. Besides, they belonged to Prince Qi’s faction, and with his defeat, their Daoist temple would certainly never be glorious again. They had no choice but to follow Prince Qi throughout his journey. Fortunately, they have also recruited some people of the same path who were willing to join them in repelling the demons.

One night, when silence reigned, Prince Qi ordered his men to open the city gates to welcome an army in. The inhabitants of the whole capital were awakened. They anxiously locked their doors and windows and hid in their rooms in fear, not daring to step out. Li Yufeng and Chu Xiang’s spies were scattered in the capital, so before Prince Qi could lead his army into the palace, they received the news and led their own people to block Prince Qi at the entrance of the palace.

The army that supported Prince Qi was directly stopped in the street by Chu Xiang’s faction of demons. There were few demons left in the capital, but their demonic techniques against ordinary soldiers were not too far off, if not one against a hundred. They weren’t that bad in terms of momentum.

The two Daoist masters, leading their disciples and the other masters they had found, appeared with equal force and confronted Chu Xiang.

Bai Yi and Bai You followed Chu Xiang on her left and right. They soon discovered that the monk who wronged Bai You was also in their enemy’s camp. They couldn’t help snorting, “I knew they were up to no good! Sister, do you want to fight?”

Chu Xiang glanced at them casually and said, “Of course we have to beat them. Keep beating them until they surrender.”

Chu Xiang raised her hand and sent out a signal. All demons in the country put down what they were doing and rushed to the capital without delay. She waved to Bai Yi and said, “Send orders to protect the innocent people, arrest the rebels, and in case of resistance, kill them.”

“Understood!”

Bai Yi and Bai Yu tried to fly away, but the Daoist master opposite them narrowed his eyes and waved his horsetail whisk. “Do you want to leave? It’s not that easy!”

Bai Yi sneered and retorted, “It’s too easy for this aunt to leave. Why are you stopping me?”

Bai Yi and Bai You attacked the Daoist master at the same time. The two cooperated tacitly, and they led the Daoist master away with only a dozen moves. At the same time, they passed the order to the demons without any delay either.

Prince Qi stood in full armor opposite Li Yufeng and said in a cold voice, “Did you think you have already won? Did you think you can rest easy because you have a demon to help you? You have underestimated me too much.”

Li Yufeng chuckled lightly with his hands behind his back. “Oh? What do you have that deserves my high regard? You tried to send out letters to the disaster area but couldn’t previously. You didn’t really think you could hide your plans for a rebellion from me, did you?”

There were nearly a hundred cultivators as well as a brave and skilled army around Prince Qi, so he was bursting with confidence. “So what if I failed to hide it? You can’t escape today!”

Li Yufeng shook his head, paying him no heed at all. “Did you forget my profession? You are not the only monks and Daoist masters who have grown crooked hearts in the world. There are also another bunch of cultivators called Demon Hunters.”

Li Yufeng clapped his hands, and out of the palace gates came out more than thirty Demon Hunters with high cultivation bases, all of whom were friends that Li Yufeng had made over the years.

The expression of the monk beside Prince Qi changed. “Demon hunters? What are you doing? Are you colluding with these demons?”

A demon hunter folded his arms around his chest, with a straw in his mouth, and stepped forward with a sneer. “Are you out of your mind? Demon hunters only capture demons stirring up trouble. Who has nothing better to do than to catch demons on sight? Other demons knew how to offer disaster relief and rescue, but how about you guys? It’s really not complimentary to rank number one in deception, you know?”

“You are helping evildoers!”

“It’s better than not getting a golden light of virtue for the rest of your lives.”

These words stabbed their hearts. They claimed to be righteous, and they were here to attack the demons, but some of these demons have been blessed with the golden light of virtue. What did they have? All they had was what they thought was righteous!

Of course, a disagreement would lead to a fight. The cultivators on both sides clashed to fight in the blink of an eye.

Chu Xiang picked a Daoist master with the highest cultivation level, flexed her wrists and said, “It’s just in time for me to test my new spell. You’re good for target practice too.”

The other party responded unhappily, “Don’t overestimate yourself. Evil can never outshine good, and demons shouldn’t exist here at all.”

“Let’s if you still have the backbone to speak later.” Chu Xiang smiled and swept down into the battlefield.

The demons she summoned arrived one after another, and they understood the situation with just a few voice transmissions. They quickly joined the battle. The demon army was not to be underestimated. They gradually gained the upper hand, despite the fact that they had to protect the people and the buildings.

Before Prince Qi could get flustered, he realized that Li Yufeng, who was opposite him, had disappeared, and a familiar and annoying voice came from behind him, “Second Brother, Third Brother, you are too careless. Have you forgotten that I am also a demon hunter! How did you fall into my hands like this?”

On a rare occasion, the eminent monk with white beard and white eyebrows in the royal temple took a walk outside. He went to the Emperor’s bedroom in the palace and stood with His Majesty who was staring at the night outside the window.

The Emperor said in a deep voice, “Is there any danger in accepting the demon realm?”

The eminent monk turned his beads and recited a prayer, “Amitabha, the Heavens bless our dynasty. Your Majesty’s discerning eye has retained this lucky star for our dynasty.”

The Emperor raised his head and looked at the stars in the sky with the eminent monk. He couldn’t understand constellations, but he could see that there were two stars that were particularly bright tonight. This eminent monk has always been reluctant to reveal too much, but with just these two sentences, he genuinely felt at ease.

He would have no regrets in life if he could see the final outcome of this matter before he left. He only hoped that the country would be at peace and that his son and his daughter-in-law, the Demon Emperor, would always walk hand in hand.
