Second Chance: Overlord

Chapter 3 - Learning

After eating, Xion sat on his floor mat again trying to take in his surroundings. His parents also slept on floor mats, the house didn't have any rooms. It was like a very small studio apartment made from sucky wood. How could people allow this?! That kid from earlier was from the Sun Branch, he'll be the first to suffer the consequences, but, first Xion needed to find a way to become stronger and help his family grow in status so that they can live in a better home.

[Name: Quinn Xion

Cultivation State: Human Realm Lv. 0 (0|50Exp)

Body State: Lesser Human Realm Lv. 2 (10|200Exp)

Potential: G-

Skills: None

Martial Techniques: None

Inventory: None]

First things first, he had to gather information on how to 'cultivate' and train his body state. Also his potential is the worst of the worst. The lowest grade in the world his in right now is F but his actually even lower with a G-. That kid from yesterday was right, he is trash!

If he wants to grow he needs information. If his memories are correct there should be a library not too far from his house. He got up and told his parents he was going out but they told him that the library is closed until morning. So he had no choice, he had to wait. It was night out, there were no lights where he lived it was too dark to go out anyhow.

….Morning...

Morning came and light seeped in through the house windows once again. He was excited to go out and learn more about this world, for some reason the previous owner of the body he resided in now wasn't very knowledgeable. His memories are all about his parents, yesterday would've been the second time he had walked inside the sect.

As he said goodbye to his parents he left, he was excited so he ran or… tried to.

"What the f.u.c.k is wrong with this damned body! Not even a minute?!" He had tried to run but a minute was all he could achieve. The body he was in was making him extremely angry, how the f.u.c.k can someone be this weak?

He had to walk and even walking was hard. But, he finally reached the Sect gates. Two guards stood there protecting the entrance.

"Heh, look who it is, you trash! Why do you even bother going in? You aren't worth.…" The pale looking guard with blue eyes who looked rather intimidating said trying to humiliate Xion. But, he was throughly ignored which sent him into a rage.

"Hey!! You weak trash…" again he was ignored, the other guard chuckled making fun of the pale guard who had bloodshot eyes of rage by now. But was also stunned about how Xion had ignored them.

Xion, never paid attention to people who tried to humiliate him. Whoever did something like that was because he or she was weak, the weak look for prey but this time Xion was the predator he had no time to waste words on people like that. No way, NO WAY was he going to let someone talk to him like that. He wanted to shut everyone up, but right now, he was powerless so he needed a way to grow quickly.

Finally, he was at the library entrance. The sign read 'Free for members of the Moon Branch, 20 Q for guests.' he began walking in but was stopped by a woman who seemed to be a librarian. He was wary of this woman, she looked like the type to bully others too. This branch has too many weak minded people.

"Stop right there! Can't you read?" She said tapping the sign angrily. The way she glared at Xion Made him chuckle in his head, he loved being underestimated.

"I can, I am a Moon Branch member." Xion answered calmly. His calmness made the librarian angrier for some reason. But he just looked at her with his apathetic face, in his previous World he used this face with people who tried to mock him 'show no emotions' his master used to tell him 'Dont give them reason to trample over you' words Xion will never forget.

"Ugh! Don't lie you brat, if that's true than show me your Moon badge!" Moon badges are peoples identities, each branch has their own unique badges and the color of the badge represents the rank of the person as well. In the Moon Branch starting from the lowest rank to the highest the colors are: black, grey, blue and azure. Sun Branch: azure, yellow, gold.

Xion remembered he had his on his trousers pocket it was a black Moon Badge. The librarian looked at it and let out a long and frustrated sigh. She hated when commoners come in and out of the library, they dampen their reputation. If she had her way, she would definitely not allow everyone in. Damned peasants!

"Well, go ahead! Don't cause trouble, if you do I'll ban you for sure." She said pointing inside with a smirk on her face. Xion walked in without giving her a second look which made her feel dejected, but he could tell what type of person that woman was. If he gave her a chance, she would definitely bring about trouble for him. "This brat is a real arrogant person, hmph kids like him get bullied." She said glaring at the back of the 5' child. How she dearly wished he'd get beaten to a pulp for ignoring her.

Xion walked over to the cultivation section first and grabbed two books, one that explained cultivation states and another one that explained mental cultivation. Next, he walked towards the martial arts section and grabbed a book called 'Demon Arts', the title interested him since his goal is to kick the Demon King's a.s.s. The last section he visited was the world and sect section, he had to learn more about the world he is in right now and about the sect if he wanted to rise in the ranks of this new world.

He walked towards the reading sections and was thoroughly impressed. It was huge, hundreds of tables were placed one next to the other and the tables were long. There were also stairs leading to another floor but the clerk there said that only those with blue badges could go up since the sections there are meant for people who seek high-grade cultivation techniques. So he went back to the reading section and sat on a small wooden cubicle next to a window. Sunlight shined in on the cubicle making it warm and comfortable it's the perfect place to read.

He opened the first cultivation book called 'Sates of Cultivation'. He flipped the book open and began reading.

As soon as Xion heard the notification information flowed into his mind like a small waterfall. And instantly he knew every single bit of information the book contained. The System is like a cheat, it would've taken him at least a few hours to go through this hundred page book. But, instead he learned all the important details without the non-essential parts of it. It was like he had always known what was written down in the book.

'Amazing, too damned OP' he thought as he went through every piece of informations in his mind.

It's like this, there are eight realms starting from the weakest to the strongest: Human Realm, Warrior Realm, King Realm, Gold-King Realm, Legendary Realm, Chaotic Realm, Demigod Realm and the Divine Realm. All of which have nine ranks, each rank is a whole level apart from the rest. People of Human Realm rank 9 look like gods to people of the Human Realm rank 1 through 6. Meaning, Xion right now was utter trash.

'This is quite unsettling…'

He couldn't believe it, right now he was the most useless person in the entire Moon Branch. Adding to cultivation states, the book also had information about potential. Everything depended on that, potentials were, from weakest to strongest: F-, F, E-, E, D, C, B-, B, A, AA, S, SSS. His potential wasn't even in the list, but if things were ordered by alphabetical order with the exception of S and SSS being G- meant Xion had the worst potential of all. How the hell was that even possible?! Was he crippled in some way?!

He scratched the back of his head irritated by this fact, but decided to leave it to fate. As long as he trained and grew more powerful everything would turn out alright. He set the cultivation book aside and opened the mind cultivation one.

This one had information of only two mind cultivation states, Mind Over Matter was the first state of mind cultivation it allows the person to withstand more pain meaning, it rose the endurance threshold the ranks reached up to 5. The other state it spoke of is the Mind and Soul state which was the evolved version of MOM *chuckles*, it allowed the user to control certain parts of the mind by using his or her soul. Not many people trained in mind cultivation, the reason being how difficult it is, those who reach the King Realm can learn the Mind Over Matter state with ease, but Warrior and below had it hard.

"I wonder…" if the system allows him to learn all of this information by just flipping a page…. Would it be the same for skills and techniques?

He was interested in learning the 'Demon Arts' martial Techniques but, right now he was more interested in the world and sect. 'Nether Continent' was the title of the book. It explained that there are four other continents in this world called 'Rain' those are, 'God Continent', 'Demonic Continent', 'Mountain Continent' and 'Winter Continent'. The 'Nether Continent' is the third continent in the power rankings, meaning it was one of the top 3 powerhouses. It has more than a thousand sects in it and the Wave of Life Sect is number 700 in the power rankings meaning the it wasn't a very powerful or influential sect. The number one in all of the 'Nether Continent' is called 'Heavenly Star Sect' it produces geniuses by the tens of thousands and they all challenge something called 'Ancient Forest' every five years coming back even more powerful. Only the top ninety sects get to go.

The book also talks about the ancient beasts and demons that live outside the sect walls. Forests of Fire, Land of Thunder and the Demonic Jungle. All of these are very dangerous places that only people of the King Realm or higher are allowed to explore. Thieves and bandits also live outside making it even more dangerous. The closest one to where he lived was the Land of Thunder.

"This place, sounds like a hell lot of fun!" Xion exclaimed smiling, the empty reading room suddenly had one more person, he glanced with the corner of his eye and saw the librarian whispering something in the man's ear. Xion ignored the person to focus on learning, nothing was more important than his growth at the moment. Next book he opened was titled 'Wave of Life Sect' which is the sect the Moon Branch belongs to…

'Hehe, simply cheating!' he thought to himself as the waterfall of information seeped through his mind. It explained the branches, 'Sky Branch' is the main family which always seats a grandmaster to lead the Wave of Life Sect ahead, after them is the 'Night Sky Branch' which is the banking family that handles everything from deals and contracts to what food to buy. Next is the 'Sun Branch' second in power only to the Sky Branch, the Sun Branch is where the strongest military force of the Wave of Life Sect comes from. 'Star Branch' is the inner family, they dedicate themselves to the science of things, the understanding and research of the world and it's treasures. And then there's the Moon Branch which is also a military force but by far the weakest in the whole 'Nether Continent' until recent years when the woman called Xiao Kim became the master and started competing with the Sun Branch for superiority.

"Interesting, interesting indeed…" Xion chuckled. Seems like he got here just in time. Fighting the Sun Branch Family for superiority, he smiled at this piece of information with joy. He had to become a part of that little debacle.

Next, was the 'Demon Arts' martial technique book. It was eerie, it had a demons face drawn in the cover with strange runes all around it and a faint aura could be felt. Xion was excited, if just by opening it, he could learn it, he'd go crazy with joy.
