Soul Land: The Savage Star

Chapter 10: eve of the second lesson

Not too long after they were brought to the office, Feng woke up, surprising the dean slightly as the average time it takes for someone to wake up after passing out was half a day but the kid woke up after three hours.

As he looked around, Feng saw that he was in the dean's office with Beibei sleeping just beside him and said dean staring at him. Straightening slightly his posture, he greeted the dean, wondering how he came here.

With her arms crossed, the dean released an immense amount of pressure on Feng, making him sweat drop but at her astonishment, his expression remained the same, as if it was frozen.

Snorting, she said " You… tell me in details of what happened in the cave. "

Nodding, Feng began his tale.

" Um... When we were exploring the forest because of its weird name, we reached a cave... and I went to the cave with Beibei. Um... After walking for a bit, we reached a wall and when I touched it, my hand went through it. Then I passed it but Beibei himself couldn't pass so I tried to make him pass but it was impossible. "

The dean nodded and urged Feng to go on. What happened before he crossed the wall is something temple knight Zi could tell her. The important part is what is on the other side and what happened to him.

" Um... I began to walk through the passage and after a while, I reached a dead end. There was only one thing: a small black spot on the wall. I touched it and then after an unknown amount of time, I felt my soul power actually grew but the black spot disappeared. And um... I think I became stronger? Then I sprinted back to where Beibei was as I guessed he would be worried. The next thing I knew was that I was here. "

Feng could really thank his expressionless face as his lie couldn't be detected thanks to it. What he told her was not the process but only part of the results. In a way, it was a half-truth.

The dean gazed sternly at Feng for a whole minute, making him quite weary as her pressure just crushed him and then she released it. She closed her eyes for another minute then got up, grabbed Feng and Beibei and teleported to where temple knight Zi was. Seeing the dean appear suddenly, temple knight Zi was startled but quickly bowed to greet her. He was just outside the academy, on his way to write his report at home on the whole trip.

She told him to lead them to the cave as she wanted to see with her own eyes what the whole matter was about. On the side, Feng could only pray that even she couldn't pass the wall.

Once inside the cave, the dean inspected the wall for a while before trying to punch it. It, of course, did nothing. After that, she didn't try anymore and just stared at it. Then, she turned to temple knight Zi and ordered him to tell her what happened. After hearing his version, which was perfectly similar to what Feng said, she woke Beibei up with a surge of spirit power and asked him what happened.

Once again, the versions matched and she was almost sure that what Feng told her was the truth, though the part about him and the other side of the wall was still a mystery. Just after, she said

" Feng, go to the other side of the wall. " Nodding, he did as he was told and was able to cross the wall effortlessly. Seeing it with her own eyes, the Dean told him to come back after a quick moment to think about it.

She took his hand and told him to go back. Like with Beibei, she couldn't cross the wall even though Feng could. Thinking for a while, she took Feng's hand again and slit his palm, from which she took some blood that will be studied later.

Looking one last time at the wall, she carried the twins as she hurried back to spirit city. After they were back to the academy, she led Feng to the infirmary so that his wound could be treated, because in her haste she didn't think much and just acted.

As the lectures resumed the next day, she let them be for the day as she couldn't really do anything else. Feng was quite lucky as if it was anyone else that was the Dean, he would be a lab rat by now or worse, he could be tortured so that they could be sure he was telling the truth.

All he had was a bit of blood taken, which speaks volume of his luck though he himself felt wronged that his palm was cut open for no reason.

Once they were back to their room, Feng released his spirit and observed his ring in wonder while making some movements to test his strengthened body.

Meanwhile, the Dean went back to the room where the seven thrones were. As she sat, she passed Feng's blood to another one of the people on the throne and explained what happened. She, of course, omitted some parts so that they wouldn't try anything nefarious on the kid though.

......

Far from spirit city, an eight years old kid was cultivating, but his method of cultivation was weird. His eyes were glowing a purple light while he stared at the sun. Behind him, a cute girl was munching on some carrots looking somewhat bored.

Seeing him finish, she leaped towards the boy and hugged him " San'ge! When will we leave this academy? It's so boring! I already beat up everyone more than thrice and they don't even dare to talk back anymore. "

Sighing in mild annoyance and amus.e.m.e.nt, the boy replied " In three years. We have to be twelve years old to enroll in an advanced academy. "

" Muu... so lame... "
