Chapter 34 - The Teenager Walking out of the Tent

Chapter 34 The Teenager Walking out of the Tent

The teenage girl sitting on the high platform outside the tent was murmuring alone, looking rarely lovely, but the boy who was having a life-and-death fight in the tent didn’t know that.

The machete in Li Fuyao’s hand was full of chips. With his tattered clothes and messy hair, he looked terrible. While the scholar in white had a deep wound showing his bone on his right hand which grabbed the cyan brush pen, and the fresh blood flowed along his arm and the brush pen before dripping at the pen point to the floor with a clatter, which was the only sound except the breaths and heartbeats of the two in the tent, sounding weird. And the scholar’s wound was caused by Li Fuyao’s machete. Before the cyan light turned from the word “resolute” disappeared, Li Fuyao chopped that right hand accurately. If he hadn’t feared the power of the cyan light at last, the right hand should have been cut off.

When they fought in the tent for a short while earlier, the swordsman Li Fuyao who used a machete instead of a sword didn’t suffer any loss, and he just thought it was not easy to defeat Zuo Sifan shortly. At least, Zuo Sifan was not in a disadvantageous position for now.

Looking at the teenager gasping for breath in front of him, Zuo Sifan knew that the boy’s situation was not as miserable as he looked. Thinking that the boy could chop at least three or five times and might hit his vital part every time, Zuo Sifan felt annoyed.

In fact, anybody who was in such a position would feel annoyed and might even have other emotions.

As a scholar from an orthodox school of Confucianism in Yanling, Zuo Sifan had seen a lot anyway although he was not at a high stage. But he was attacked by a cultivator from a small remote country and might even lose his life at any time. How could he be not upset?

Moreover, this teenager was a swordsman that the three religious sects in the human world didn’t like.

Zuo Sifan put the cyan brush pen in his left hand and thought about what word to write later to cope with it. Suddenly he felt a gust of wind which blew the tent to sway. He didn’t know when the teenager with the machete came to him and calmly looked at him whose right hand could hardly write anything. After keeping silent for a while, Li Fuyao slapped with his machete.

He slapped indeed this time.

The machete came slowly, and Zuo Sifan must not wait for death and Li Fuyao believed that the older man could dodge in time. But when Zuo Sifan started to lift his vital energy, the teenager in front of him sneered at him. “Mr. Zuo, do you know how to explain the word ‘Gentleman’?”

The word “gentleman” made Zuo Sifan pause for a while, and the pause made the vital energy he had just lifted from his heart scatter abruptly. In the blink of an eye, he couldn’t avoid the slap on his chest.

So Li Fuyao slapped Zuo Sifan’s chest heavily, and then the older man flew backward, spitting fresh blood to the air.

Li Fuyao didn’t continue to fight after winning but looked at Zuo Sifan falling on the floor. Then he walked slowly to the table and picked up the book, asking with a smile, “Mr. Zuo, there is no explanation of the word ‘gentleman’ on the book written by a sage?”

It was better to frustrate his will before killing him.

After falling on the floor, Zuo Sifan didn’t get up immediately. He looked pale and his lips trembled. He sat straight and then glanced at the cyan brush pen in his hand, enduring the severe pain from his heart. He remembered that when he started to study in the temple, the teacher talked about the explanation of “gentleman” at the first class. While he was determined to be a real gentleman in the past few years, and he even named his magic tool, the cyan brush pen “Gentleman”. However, he thought it over and found that what he had done these years didn’t make him a real gentleman. When he accepted being worshiped in Yanling, he claimed to be different from other cultivators and had no contact with anyone at ordinary times, disdaining to make friends with others. But in fact, since he left the temple and went to Yanling, he couldn’t be counted as a gentleman, let alone he came to the Luosang River with the army of the Chen Country in order to help Yanling destroy Dazhou.

How could a gentleman bully the weak?

Raising his head to look at Li Fuyao, Zuo Sifan said in depression, “I haven’t expected that you are so young but have such sharp eyes. Comparing with yours, my cultivation in these years is hardly worth mentioning.”

Zuo Sifan didn’t express all his feelings, but Li Fuyao understood, and the meaning was simple. The older man meant that Li Fuyao mentioned the word “gentleman” to distract him as he had seen that the other party was hesitant.

Li Fuyao withdrew his machete and stood with its support, explaining calmly, “Mr. Zuo, you are a talent from the Yanling Confucian Temple and started cultivating more than ten years earlier than me. If I don’t play a trick, it will be difficult for me to defeat you.”

Zuo Sifan laughed with self-mockery, “I walk slowly and it’s natural that you young people surpass me. But a teenager from a small remote country is not supposed to be so smart. If you were born in Luoyang City, you might be my schoolmate.”

“Many children from Luoyang City are accepted by the Yanling Confucian Temple every year, but few geniuses can be selected, while some gifted children the teachers in the temple met when they travelled around the world occasionally are rough diamonds. There is an innate gifted Dao cultivator in Liangxi who is extremely talented and almost becomes the top one among the young people in the human world. While there are some children with great talents in Yanling, but they can’t compare with that gifted Dao cultivator. You are so young, and it’s a pity that you learn swordsmanship. You’d better go to Yanling, and you can go farther on the highroad in the future.”

Li Fuyao had never expected that this scholar wasn’t worried about his life but tried to persuade him to study in the Yanling Confucian Temple.

Li Fuyao kept silent and shook his head to refuse him.

At the moment, this teenager raised the machete and asked in a low voice, “Sir, have you finished the last word?”

Li Fuyao happened to see Zuo Sifan’s left hand which hid behind his back. He wrote the last word on the uneven floor with the cyan brush pen. When he stopped writing, Li Fuyao asked.

Li Fuyao wasn’t arrogant to let Zuo Sifan finish that word, but he really needed some time to adjust the energy movement in his heart so that the vital energy could flow to his meridians.

So here was the last word written by Zuo Sifan.

Reason.

Zuo Sifan had written a word “courtesy” before, and now he wrote the word “reason”. They had different meanings.

Courtesy was politeness.

Reason was explanation of the principle.

After the word “reason” was formed on the floor, it soon turned into a cyan light like the words before and flew to Li Fuyao. He had seen the methods of the Confucian cultivators before, but he still thought it strange. In the past, he had seen that Yan Yu could drive countless green strands. The word written by this man could even turn into a cyan light. Although it appeared that Yan Yu had more power, the word “reason” in front of Li Fuyao couldn’t be easily dealt with.

Li Fuyao took a deep breath, and the vital energy in his heart poured out, like a big river. He seemed to have infinite strength and chopped the cyan light. Zuo Sifan didn’t want to die, nor did Li Fuyao.

The two people who didn’t want to die naturally tried to kill the other party.

The cyan light met the machete. With a grunt, the machete had another chip. Li Fuyao didn’t retreat but stepped forward and let all the vital energy pour out of his heart. The machete moved one inch forward, and this inch made the cracks of the cyan light spread like a spider net.

Soon the light was split by the machete.

The two cyan lights which had been cut off bumped into Li Fuyao’s chest and made him shake. Then the teenager spat blood twice.

The cyan lights scattered and disappeared in an instant.

Zuo Sifan who was sitting on the floor looked ghastly pale, and black blood started to flow out of his ears, nose and eyes. He appeared quite miserable.

He tried to say something, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he spat much black blood, which made him unable to speak. Li Fuyao held back the fresh blood in his throat and said gently, “I thought you were unable to write the last word, so after you write, you can’t get the result as you expected but make yourself become like this.”

Zuo Sifan looked up at Li Fuyao, and the indifference and calmness in his eyes were replaced with fear.

Li Fuyao put the machete full of chips on Zuo Sifan’s neck and thought for a long time about what to say, but at last he didn’t say anything and wiped the enemy’s neck with his machete.

Zuo Sifan covered his neck in fear but couldn’t stop fresh blood from flowing out. Soon he fell on the floor and stopped breathing. He died at last.

Li Fuyao glanced at the cyan brush pen and put the machete on his back. After blowing out the oil lamp, he walked out of the tent.

The bright moon hung in the sky and the pure moonlight brightened the world. In the open space outside the tent, there was a group of soldiers from the Chen Country whose military camp had been attacked by the people from Dazhou, but now they just stood there and looked up at the teenage girl sitting on the high platform, and almost nobody noticed Li Fuyao’s arrival.

Li Fuyao thought this scene absurd. It was a fact that Qing Huai was a cultivator, but a cultivator at the Fundamental Stage could really kill more than one hundred thousand soldiers?

Nobody knew the answer because it didn’t happen.

Li Fuyao who looked miserable came to the open space and shouted at the girl sitting on the high platform, “He has died.”

Qing Huai glanced at him and jumped off the high platform, joking, “Li Fuyao, you really came out. I am ready to see your dead body inside and plan to run away when I meet your master next time.”

Li Fuyao ignored her words and just asked, “What shall we do to these people?”

Qing Huai turned around and laughed, “How about we kill them?”

She didn’t lower her voice on purpose. Hearing that, the soldiers around looked pale. They didn’t dare to resist this girl who had easily killed more than ten cultivators sent by the Yanling Empire.

Li Fuyao smiled and turned to leave.

At the moment, Qing Huai finally noticed that fresh blood flowed from this guy’s sleeve to his palm and then dripped on the ground.

Qing Huai turned away and suddenly felt sad, somehow.

She couldn’t speak out that feeling, but soon she summarized that she felt guilty because she was too anxious and caused Li Fuyao’s misery.

Feeling the wound on his chest and the fresh blood flowing out of his body, Li Fuyao walked forward with difficulty, regardless of anything else.
