CHAPTER 2: SPRING COMES TO EVERYONE (XI)

Part 028

They should have left when he thought it was suspicious. Adrian bit his tongue in regret. It wouldn’t be a problem if he was alone, but Damian was standing next to him, looking very nervous with a startled look on her face.

The guy sent out by the upper management who suddenly changed his momentum blew a long whistle as soon as he went down to the first floor. Perhaps there was a basement, he heard urgent footsteps furiously heading towards the second floor from below. Judging by the sound of footsteps rushing into the hallway on the second floor, there were at least ten people, or more. Adrian pulled out a dagger and fired at the leader, who was laughing lazily. As a witness, he put his sword in a place where he wouldn’t die, but he didn’t have time to pay attention to him. He walked down a long hallway. A building with no windows and no sound leaking out.

Adrian was chewing his tongue and taking off his coat. Then, startled, he grabbed Damian’s stiff arm and raised her up. The round eyes were terrified, but there was no time for a long explanation. He led her to a corner of the wall to the right of the entrance and placed her on the floor with her corner covered.

“Oh, Adrian?”

“Damian, cover your ears and stay still. You must not move. I will make sure that not a single hair of yours is damaged.”

She wouldn’t have been able to figure out what the situation was, but Damian nodded her head even with a frightened face.

Adrian put the naked coat over her head. And he stood in front of her. Milton laughed as he drew a long sword from its scabbard on his left side.

“To find a place to die on your own feet… I think I would have to use a dragon for that but it seems you will die here anyway. Didn’t it go well? If you die, he will easily accomplish his will.”

He was obviously a stranger, but he dropped strange words as if he knew him. Milton continued to spit blood bubbles and curses, but Adrian couldn’t afford to pay attention to him. He turned around to see Demian wiggling, wrapped in a blue coat. He wanted to reassure her that it would be fine and not to worry, but the sound of rough footsteps eventually went through the door.

The men who pushed into the room were all twelve. Because it was a limited space, not everyone could enter, and there were five or six people standing in the hallway. He could still hear the footsteps of the invisible ones, all armed

The man, who had gone to gather her companions at the owner’s command, came in and put on the fallen Milton and went out. Adrian had to keep those in front in check and also protect Damian from behind, so he couldn’t do anything while watching him slip away in front of him. As soon as he left the room, the well-discarded tip of the sword flew into it.

* * *

Inside the dark coat, Damian heard Milton speak. When the small sound that seemed to take her breath away stopped, she heard the sharp sound of metal clashing and Damian covered her ears. Her body trembled like a thorn tree at the sound of dull footsteps and thick curses and screams. No matter how much she tried to catch her senses, she couldn’t help but feel the overwhelming fear, but she knew that Adrian was risking his life in front of her right now. She knew for sure that there were many opponents.

The sound of something being smashed was heard, and the screams of pain were heard again. The body inevitably shudders. Something or someone hit the wall against which she was leaning against, and their back echoes with the wall. Damian gritted her teeth to keep from screaming. If she screamed, she might get in the way of Adrian. If she moved carelessly, Adrian might get hurt while fighting with them because he cares about her. Anyway, she didn’t have the power to stand against them. She couldn’t help, so she shouldn’t get in the way.

Even if she covered her ears, the terrifying noise that could be heard vividly made Damian take her hands away from her ears and cover hisher mouth.

Crack-

There was a sound like metal breaking. It wouldn’t be Adrian’s sword. She wanted to pull down the coat and examine the situation like wildfire. She didn’t know what was going to happen, but fear, like an instinct to be harmed, stirred her whole body. But Damian persevered. He said never to move. He said he would definitely protect her. She had no choice but to believe. There was no feeling in his biting lower lip. How much time has passed? Several more screams and urgent words came and went, but Adrian’s voice was not heard. There was no more sound coming from the hallway.

The room was still noisy with the clashing of knives, but it seemed to be tidying up little by little. No, she had to. The moment she was about to gently put down a piece of her heart, something touched her toe. Something unknown pulled the hem of Adrian’s coat that had been draped on the floor. He grabbed and pulled.

Damian felt her heart jump out of her mouth. She forgot how much she wanted to remove it and look outside and grabbed the hem of her coat as it was about to flow over her head. She clutches at it with all her might, so the thing doesidn’t move any more. Then at some point-

A strong force pulled down the coat at once.

“Suck!”

Damian made eye contact with the man lying prostrate at her feet. She barely swallowed the screams, but her whole body stiffened and she couldn’t even breathe. The blood that flowed from his head soaked his entire face, and the white eyes that turned red were looking up at Damian. The man who was already dying pulled the hem of his coat that was covering Damian. In an instant, a shadow fell over Damian’s head, who was watching the man wriggling towards me, unable to look away and breathe. The blade plunged from the back of his neck to his neck, taking away the man’s remaining breath.

For the first time in her life, Damian saw the moment when death landed on her eyes while she was still alive.

Adrian clicked his tongue and kicked his body away. Damian lifted her creaking head and looked up at Adrian. Tears ran down her pale face. One side of her heart seemed to break, but he turned around. Milton’s three remaining men relentlessly attacked Adrian’s back. Unable to avoid Damian being left behind, Adrian raised his sword and blocked the ax blade that was being driven down over his head. At the same time, a man’s sword struck and cut Adrian’s side. He twisted his back, but was unable to avoid all of them due to the narrow space.

Damian reflexively covered her mouth, but she couldn’t cover up the screams that erupted. Adrian, who was standing with his back to him, also heard Damian’s muffled screams. He gritted his teeth and pushed the ax blade away. The next moment, the head of the one who was aiming for Adrian’s side flew off. At the same time, Adrian kicked him in the stomach and the giant ax holding the ax crashed into the opposite wall and overturned. The undead corpse collapsed to the floor, and Adrian, who flew to the wall like a shotgun, took his last breath. And Damian saw it all.

Feeling her gaze on his back, Adrian couldn’t turn back for a moment. Twenty-three bodies were lying on the floor of that room. There were corpses dripping with blood everywhere, including his own body, and there was no way that the body that died from stab wounds could be intact. He killed all the guys who attacked with a knife, but he didn’t know what kind of face to use to look at Damian.

He was sorry that she had to work all day, so they were just going to have a fun outing today. He never thought the schedule he put in as an excuse would be twisted like this. Adrian barely swallowed a sigh and shook his sword. Upon his bayonet and turning around, Damian was looking at the body lying in front of her. He quickly blocked Damian’s view and sat on his knees, meeting her eyes. Stunned, she didn’t take her eyes off the floor.

“Damian.”

She didn’t look at Adrian as a kid, but even when he called her out, her gaze didn’t meet. He put a hand on Damian’s shoulder in his frustration. He swayed back and forth and called again.

“Damian.”

Still, when her eyes didn’t focus on one place, Adrian was frightened. Dark red bloodstains all over the smell of blood. He was used to it, but the young lady who grew up well couldn’t have been more surprised. Didn’t it come as a shock?

What should he do? Call a carriage and take her to the clinic. Why the hell did Franz stand outside? Since he was born and now, there has never been a moment when he was at a loss because he didn’t know what to do. With a grievous heart, strength naturally entered his grasp. Adrian’s eyes, which had been trembling, looked at Damian’s eyes, which had regained their clear light. Adrian, helpless and eager to sit down, drew in a breath he had been holding in his relief.

He wanted to say something, but when he saw the tear-filled eyes on her white face, he gasped again.

“Sigh.”

“Damian?”

“My shoulder hurts, Adrian.”

“Oh, I’m sorry.”

It looks like it went in hard. Adrien hurriedly removed his hand and backed away, and Damian tried to raise her body. However, there was no strength in her legs that had been loosened, and her hands were only shaking.

Adrian, who was looking at her with miserable eyes, carefully held out his hand again. He stood up with one hand cupped around her small back and the other under her crouched leg.

“Excuse me.”

Damian was startled when his body suddenly rose into the air. Although he struggled with his mess, Adrian easily corrected his posture so that Damian could be held comfortably. Then he turned and walked out of the bloody room. Damian and Adrian were of one mind who wanted to get out of this mess somehow, so she was quietly held in her arms and brought down to the first floor. There was no strength in her body anyway.

Adrian put Damian down on the sofa attached to the empty first floor wall.

“Are you okay, Damian?”

Adrian got down on one knee in front of Damian and asked how she was doing with tears in her eyes. He asked, knowing she’s not okay. She had never once thought of wanting to cry no matter what kind of mud she rolled through, but she forced herself to control her voice as if she was going to burst into tears if she let her guard down a bit. Her pale face was worried, he felt sorry for her for creating this situation, she was shocked and there was nothing he could do for her, and she was devastated. Damian stared blankly at Adrian, whose entire body was almost soaked in blood, and was startled.

“Adrian, blood! Franz!”

Come to think of it, she saw him being hit by a knife earlier, but she was relaxed and came down in the arms of the person who had been hit by a knife. The tears that had barely subsided were welling up again.

“It’s nothing. Damian, Damian. Look at me. Are you alright?”

“I’m fine. I didn’t hurt myself. It’s Adrian who’s not fine.”

Adrian tried to examine his own wounds, but he held back his apologies and lowered his head to meet her eyes. Her light blue eyes were filled with tears again. It was the time when his messy and crumpled heart was about to spread a little when he saw Damian’s face, unable to put her hand on her own side where the blood was flowing.

“I’m fine. Dami…!”

Adrian, who was talking to her, jumped up and stood with his back to Damian. He pulled out his sword again. Who else was left? Dizzy footsteps were coming up from the basement.
