CHAPTER 2: SPRING COMES TO EVERYONE (XVIII)

Part 035

It’s tasteless. She asked Jenny to buy the same cookie from the bakery Ethan bought, but why didn’t it taste good?

It was no fun. The 6th grade administrative officer, who was said to be Rootvan’s junior, took care of her and made her sit and play all day. Bored and tired of being bored, she stared at the education officer sitting at the desk across from her with a longing face, but he smiled and nodded his head.

‘That’s not it. Ask for something, I’m bored!’

It’s been a week since the Ministry of Home Affairs training began. A week since she went to work with Rootvan in the morning, bruised all morning, had lunch with Rootban on the way home from work in the morning, came back, and left blank for the rest of the afternoon. But education still has more than 15 days left…

With the cookie in her mouth, she spreads it on the desk, but no one pays any attention. Everyone worked with a dull face, she had nothing to do, and most left work after half a day in the morning… So the apprentice trainees couldn’t even get home from work by 10:00, and her classmates, who were now four, tried not to talk to her after Mario was taken out. There was nothing to do, no one to meet, no one to talk to, no one to listen to, and no Adrian. No, Adrian definitely wasn’t there. He shouldn’t be there.

Shaking her head, why did his face come to mind more clearly? Alas, there were no pretty people there. She thought it was just a pretty face, but it turned out to be dangerous. Was she also addicted to his face? Smiley faces came and went in her head.

‘Calm down, Damian.’

Every morning when she went to work, there was a vase with plenty of fresh flowers and a letter on her desk. She looked at a pretty flower she didn’t know the name of, and took out the letter she put in it again.

[To Damian. I haven’t been in touch with the Royal Inspector General yet. We will deliver the news as soon as it comes in. Today is also a hot day. Your empty seat is even more empty. I miss you. Adrian]

Aona silently stamped her foot under the desk. When she read it for the first time in the morning, she almost went to the military without realizing it. What kind of face should she make? As expected, there was nobody to escort her, and Franz, who became the coachman of the wagon her father bought for her and now plays the role of postman, carried her reply written in the morning. What else would he say tomorrow? Adrian’s letter was her only pleasure these days.

Looking at the flowers he sent, she was thinking of Adrian’s flower-like face in earnest, but the entrance to the office became noisy. It’s close to work time, so there weren’t many people left, but she just raised her head, wondering what’s going on, and the protruding head looks familiar.

The man with blue-black hair looked around and their eyes met. He smiled broadly.

“Damian.”

Adrian strode towards her with a big smile on his lips. Surprised by the sudden appearance, and just staring at the flower-like face for the first time in a long time, the eyes of the remaining administrators were stinging. She took Adrian’s hand and came out. What could she do, wherever she went, she was holding the hand of a person who attracts attention, and in the blue commander’s conquest, the Duke of Bigor, who everyone in the world knows, was held in the hand of a young lady, laughing ‘haha’ while visiting the official residence of the Ministry of Home Affairs. There was no way people didn’t look at them.

.

They went to a place where people were barely in the back of the official residence, and stood facing each other. As their eyes met, Adrian grinned at what he liked so much. She was dumbfounded, but when she saw that face, she smiled.

“Adrian, what are you doing here?”

“Didn’t you say you missed me?”

Did she? She couldn’t be sure when he smiled like that.

“Did I?”

“I was going to come as soon as I got the letter, but I’m late because I was busy today.”

Correspondence? Was that the reply she sent in the morning? Was that what she said about missing the days she spent in the military?

‘No, don’t laugh like that.’

As she was staring at him in bewilderment, Adrian lowered his head and looked down at the hand he was holding. She released her hand, but a large hand grabbed her hand as it tried to escape. She tried to wiggle her hand out, but he wouldn’t let go.

“Adrian?”

He still was making eye contact and smiling. She looked down at his hand and asked him to let go, but he smiled with a determined face.

“I missed you.”

She was about to say let go, but she couldn’t. Either letting go of his hand, wiping the honey dripping from his eyes, or tearing off a bunch of flowers from his mouth. Did anything of that make sense? She thought she was going dizzy.

“Are you leaving work now?”

“Yes, I’ll be off work soon.”

“Aren’t you taking me there?”

“Pardon?”

“You promised to take me to a restaurant where lamb is delicious.”

Looking back, they were supposed to have lunch together that day, had it not been for the damn thing at the upper ranks.

As she smiled, Adrian laughed along with a fluttering face.

“Let’s go today. I’ll buy you something delicious.”

Adrian, who nodded, said that he would come out after getting ready for work, and turned around, but he wouldn’t let go of her hand with a smile on his face. It’s okay to shake it, but just shake it along, and don’t let it go…

“You’ve got to let go and go back from work, Adrian.”

“Let’s go like this.”

He wanted her to come home from work holding the hand of the commander of the capital and Duke Bigor? She thought she made an embarrassing face, but Adrian still waved his hand and started walking in the lead. It’s all wrong. Giving up, she quickly recalled how she had left his desk.

There was no work anyway, the letter was in the drawer, and the cookies were put away? There would be the cookies she’s been eating on, but she wouldn’t mind if they get thrown away while cleaning. Her manager had already left, so she had no one to report to.

“Adrian.”

“Yes?”

“Come to think of it, I think I can left work right away.”

Adrian laughed, ‘haha’, and then he turned and started walking briskly toward the coach station again.

* * *

It was a restaurant that was usually quite crowded, but ‘Sheep-sheep Lamb-lamb’, a restaurant specializing in lamb dishes, was quiet today. She took a seat by the window and was worried that the chef might have changed, but the food was as good as she remembered. But why was it so quiet? It’s a busy time.

She was happy to see Adrian slicing up her meat and enjoying his share. Was this what it feels like to feed a big dog? After seeing her face once, eating a piece of meat, seeing her face once more and eating a piece of meat, Damian looked at Adrian with a motherly smile and suddenly realized. He was not her mother. He was a man who was very strong with only his fists, had a very high position and title, had great abilities, and was charismatic. He’s an intelligent man who acted like a laughing gentleman in front of her and efficiently blocked her marriage.

But what to do? She missed this scary man. She saw him every day, but after not seeing him for a while, she missed him. He got heartbroken for not sending flowers and not coming to see her, and when she heard that he had come to see her, she felt good. She thought it was a big fish that came into the fishing grounds, but it must have been her who caught it.

She said she would buy him something delicious, but in the end it was he who paid.

After the middle of summer, the day was about to cool down a bit. The twilight sunset along the banks of the Lorraine River was pretty, so they decided to walk for a while. Naturally, Adrian took her hand again.

“Adrian, why do you keep holding my hand?”

When she looked up and asked, the smile faded from his face and the corners of his eyes drooped slightly.

‘Ah-oh. don’t make that face’

“Don’t you like it?”

‘No. I don’t like it. Yes, I don’t like it. Actually, good I just bounced it. So don’t make that face. please. You know I’m weak in that face, so I’m doing this.’

“It’s not that.”

When she replied, Adrian, who brightened up again, waved his hand and walked away. It wouldn’t be very comfortable because the arm length was different from hers. Because she was so excited, she thought it was good. They walked and talked for a while. She asked about the arms trafficking investigation, complained that her training at the Ministry of Home Affairs was boring, and said that Franz was having a hard time with Jenny. They also talked about the Crown Prince’s birthday banquet they were supposed to go to over the weekend. They parted after Adrian arranged to pick her up at five o’clock. With a face dripping with regret, he put her in the carriage, turned her back on Adrian, who was staring at the carriage, and returned to the Count’s residence.

Upon returning to the room, she found a wonderfully ornate box lying on the table. Several boxes of different sizes were stacked. When she asked what this was, they said it was delivered today.

Jenny, who said the sender was the Duke of Bigor, looked displeased, but Ruby and Anna were eagerly waiting for me to open the box. She found the name ‘Rosalyn’ in the corner of a box piled up in layers of ribbons that seemed to be flying gold dust.

‘Let’s open the biggest box, oops.’

It was a dress with a rich design in which the clear sky blue layered on the pure white color entwined with sparkling silver threads deepened along the skirt. When she picked it up, Ruby screamed and made a fuss. Jenny, who convinced her to try the dress, nodded her head while sniffing at her.

The next box was a dress and matching shoes, and the last box was, of course, a necklace, earrings, bracelet set, and a thick sapphire hanging from a platinum string. The maid who found the card in the dress box held it out to her, but even the set of earrings was just her taste.

Anna unfolded the card, her mouth swollen and unable to speak, and she slowly turned her face red. Ruby tilted her head and flipped over the card, and gave her a shriek once more. Jenny took the card from Anna, unfolded it, and handed it to her with a deep sigh.

[I would like to see you with it.]

Wow, what to do with this? He’s the one who could kill a lot of people with just one word. And he wanted to see her in that dress? For some reason she had a lot of palpitations today and high blood pressure.

Pushed by the spirit of the ladies-in-waiting, she decided to use it. The dress matched her outfit so well that even Jenny, who was picky about it, looked at it openly. Besides, it was so tight that Angie, who had been called in for Gabon, stuck out her tongue. This was Madame Rosaline’s work, it’s Adrian’s present.

Looking at her in a dress, the ladies-in-waiting were having a meeting with her heads together.

“I’m sure the up-do would look good with that dress, right? I’ve been busy lately and haven’t taken good care of it, so I’ll have to order some quality honey.”

“Since it’s a summer dress, the neckline is cool, and skin care is essential when the hair is up. I’ve seen aloe before, but I don’t know if it’s available in large quantities.”

“Leave that to me. Shouldn’t I buy new cosmetics instead? The dress is mixed with a lot of blue. How should I get the basic color tone?”

‘Guys… Do the conspiracy without me.’
