CHAPTER 3: YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO BE THERE (VIX)

Part 048

As he descended the dark stairs, he came across a hallway where strange music could be heard. Several doors were each painted brilliantly and were firmly closed. Homer walked down the familiar hallway and opened the innermost door without hesitation. The King’s Eye members, who had embarrassing faces, approached to welcome the leader. Homer looked down at Tyrellius, who was lying on the table with cold eyes. He sighed as he looked down at the back of the crown prince’s head, who had fallen asleep without budging even when his back was shaken. Homer beckoned, and the subordinates standing behind him wrapped the crown prince on his back.

“There was an attack today too?”

“Yes, I wonder if he disguised himself as an employee or bribed the employee. The clumsy guy was subdued while installing it.”

“The guards don’t take them with you at all.”

“It’s been 15 days since Her Majesty’s Highness issued a stay-at-home order. I’m sneaking out, so I’m sure you had time to take care of the guards. My children are dissatisfied with escort duty.”

Homer stiffened and lowered himself into the chair where Tyrellius was sitting. He couldn’t sleep properly on a long business trip that he had to go directly to the Principality of Dalun. As soon as he returned to the royal castle, he heard the news of the crown prince going out of control and was about to rush here. Seeing the crown prince fall asleep at a pub on Midok 1st Street, saying he had come out secretly, the past hours of running around became meaningless. It was confirmed that the Queen and the Luther family made some sort of transaction with the Principality of Taln, but there was no way to confirm what was exchanged. It is estimated that a huge amount of funds flowed to the Principality of Taln, but the size and source of the funds were not clear. What was certain was that the Principality of Taln had begun preparing for war. With the certainty that the funds for war preparations would have crossed over from Rentain, was it premature to predict that the blade will also be directed to Laurentian?

It could be the war of attrition that has always been with the neighboring Duchy of Cologne. However, as Homer guessed, it could be preparations for the invasion of Laurentian, which failed four years ago. War had to be stopped.

Fifteen years ago, the one who planted this disquieting seed was Homer’s father, Count Lucas Beelzeb, the last head of the Count Zeb family, now in ruins and forgotten even in people’s memories. When the former Duke of Bigor was still in Antalof hegemony, his friend and tactician, Count Lucas, planned the assassination of King Ortega IV in order to put Antalof on the throne, but was discovered by the previous king. Lucas gave up his family and life for Antalof in front of the late king, who was holding him accountable, and upon his death, Antalof was deprived of his status as a prince and the case ended with him becoming a Duke.

Engage the Principality of Cologne and its long-time rival, the Principality of Dalne, promise them future support and start a civil war. The first draft of this book was designed by Lucas. Antalov ignored the family of an old friend who died for me. Homer, a commoner boy who had to somehow lead the family abandoned by his father, became an administrator after much effort to protect his mother and younger sister. In order to catch the eye of King Ortega IV and earn his trust, he did everything he could. He could not, or had no intention of refusing, the orders given to him by using the Beelzebu family’s reinstatement ticket as bait. He did all the dirty work without hesitation. And the result was Tyrellius now.

King Ortega IV, who experienced the rampage of being a maternal relative of the Galleon Duchy, welcomed his next queen as a viscountess without a belly. Because she gave birth to his first son. However, her post-Lutherian successor could not accept her as the queen. Homer was given to Tirellius by the king in place of the queen who could not match queen Veronica. The crown prince, who received the full support of the king and held a leash of loyal dogs that would rectify any accident, was broken without end.

Despite Homer’s thorough cover-up, rumors spread throughout Midoc as soon as they could. The queen denies it, the king ignores it, and the crown prince really didn’t know. For a long time, King Ortega IV scoffed at Homer’s guess. He thought he was conspiring with no merit. From the beginning, he had no intention of restoring the son of Lucas Valve, who was as threatening as Antalof. It was only after a long time passed that Homer realized the king’s heart. He let out a self-deprecating laugh. Homer picked up the bottle of wine the crown prince had left behind. Watching the leader pouring poisoned wine into his mouth, the inspector bowed his head and went outside. He even considered killing the Crown Prince. Disguising it as an accidental death is nothing. Whether Dozern becomes king or not, the danger of civil war will be avoided anyway. Since it was started by his father, he had endured, saying that he had to stop it, but the current royal family had no regrets or expectations.

What would be the use of reinstating the count now? The mother who was supposed to protect him, and even his little sister were dead. The Queen, Hubie, and Marquis Luther were gradually revealing their claws, and an unknown group continued to attempt to assassinate the crown prince. He’d rather kill him properly. He would see if he could get away from this disgusting life, whether he lost his job or his title, but these people who appear whenever he could forget them didn’t seem to really have the heart to kill the crown prince. It was just a threat, he confirmed that it wasn’t the reserve side, but he had no way of knowing who was behind it.

The king just gives orders, the queen holds him and whines, and the crown prince was drunk. The girl who caught his eye for the first time was no, no. He gulped down the rest of the bottle in one gulp.

15 years is a long time. It’s been 8 years since he had lived as ‘The King’s Dog’. With nothing he wants or hopes for, Homer was getting tired.

* * *

Dozern, who came back from the outing, seemed to be in a good mood. On days when he met his maternal uncle, Marquis Luther, he was happy for a while. He came to Eilene’s room, inspected her still flat stomach, and asked her well-being.

“So, did you decide to meet Duke Nodovan?”

It’s a friendly tone that she had rarely heard lately. Eilene was delighted, but her heart trembled coldly. She failed to do what he commanded. When you think of Duke Nodovan’s terrifying shout, you put away your worries. Dozern, who often got angry, was equally frightening, but she still believed in his friendly appearance when he whispered that he loved her.

Eilene smiled as beautifully as she could and she gently cupped his hand on her belly. She didn’t meet Duke Nodovan, but she asked Damian for a favor. Ever since she was a child, Damian eventually listened to her request.

She refused, but she must have talked about it. Even with the same Duke, wasn’t the Bigor much more powerful than the Nodovan? Dozern and the Duke were cousins, and even if they were helpful, that side would be more helpful.

“I haven’t met my father, but I think we can arrange a place with the Duke of Bigor.”

It was said with a bit of pride, but Dozern’s face hardened. Eilene was asked in a cold voice.

“You mean to tell Duke Bigor to help me?”

Eilene hurriedly added to Dozern’s bitter atmosphere.

“My best friend is dating Duke Bigor. She will definitely be of help to me.”

Eilene tried to smile as she tried to say it, but Dozern couldn’t stand it any longer and yelled out loud.

“Are you thinking of something else or not! Adrian holding my hand? There is a degree to being naive. A woman who wants to be queen, how things are going is very dark!”

Eilene, who was comfortably leaning on the head of the bed, stood up with a frightened face. She reached over to Dozerne and tried to take his hand, but he shrugged off and backed away.

“Docern, I just wanted to help. You said we needed the duchy’s cooperation…”

“It’s done! Now that it’s done, sit still and give birth to a child. When the child is born, Father will also approve it. The King has authorized it, but what will Duke Donovan do? Let’s see what happens!”

Dozern turned roughly and left Eilene’s room. Eilene could hear him loudly ordering the attendant as she spurred through the door.

“Don’t let my wife leave the prince’s palace!”

Eilene slumped to the floor. She sat with her head propped up on the bed and nervously tore off the hem of her skirt. He said she was locked up again. She had been confined all spring, even in an unknown country estate. She was unable to leave the small mansion because Duke Nodovan and the crown prince were looking for her by releasing soldiers, so she stayed waiting for Dozern, who she was not sure when he would come. She was again trapped in the cold prince’s palace, without the sweet Dozern, who had comforted her that if she had a child, she would be able to marry, and that once married, she would be able to return to Midoc. Why did it become like this? Since when did the loved one who saved her from a house she couldn’t stick to scream? Like a father who escaped and left.

She was happy with Docern, who begged for her love, touted as the queen’s star. She could be happier, she believed. By the side of Docere, who was far more fit for a throne than the incorrigible Crown Prince, she dreamed of becoming the noblest lady of Lorraine. Eilene, who believed that the fate that had brought her to an unfamiliar world had arranged that much for her, ignored the creaking moment and thought so.

She worked so hard to have a child, and even went so far away to have a shabby wedding with no one there. He said that everything would be solved when they returned to Midok, but why did she have to be locked up again? She used to marvel at the sound of his breathing, but now why did he only look at her with those eyes when she laughed or cried?

She should be happy, she was the owner of the queen star, why was he yelling at her? She was chosen and came to this world. But why didn’t anyone like her? She remembered the smiling faces of Adrian and Damian she saw on the day of the hunting competition. She shook her head and tried to shake it off, but it kept appearing in front of her eyes. She could even hear their laughter. A friend whom she envied and hated because she was always confident despite not being better or possessing anything more. Like everyone else, she admired her, called her pretty, and nice, and waited for her to come to her. It was splendidly inflated to the fullest, and it flickered in front of her eyes, but she thought she would be able to show it to Mi-hyang, who was rather distant. She wanted to make her come to her first with a sad face, saying that she was good, that she was cool, that she had what she didn’t have, that she was envious and praised.

She was both relieved and upset because she had only one friend to tell her story to, Damian. Even if she made more friends, fell in love with the best man in the kingdom, she was angry with Damian for not being jealous or envious. The day they met again, she wanted to say that it was actually scary and difficult, but when she saw Damian’s happy face, she felt unfair and annoyed.

Hate. Hate. She hated her, but why was she the only one floating around in a fancy room with no one around? As she climbed, she felt a pain in her lower stomach.
