As they whispered to each other, Isabella finally came up right beside Francesca.

She, on top of making sure to make the men move a little further away from them, she then gently caressed her cheeks with her hand as she spoke.

“Francesca-chan, are you okay? You haven’t had any scary experiences right? You people are my saviours who helped me by the riverside, so please, tell whenever you need anything, okay?”

The scent was both sweet and adult-like, making Francesca’s heart beat faster.

When she was off duty, back at the mansion, Isabella had this leisurely sexiness to her as well but, right now, seeing her all dressed up really showed just how beautiful she really was.

“I’ll be fine since I have Leonardo with me! Also, thank you for lending this mature dress as well.”

“Don’t mention it. If only big sis Sofia-sama was free, we could have provided you with an even bigger variety of dresses to choose from but alas…….she’s too busy dealing with the reception of the guests.”

Was simply sending the prostitutes out to greet the guests not enough, she wondered. When Francesca asked, Isabella put her finger on her lips and spoke secretively.

Cutting into the conversation, Leonardo spoke with a smile.

“See that man over there? He’s a Baron that I was only just now introduced to. Apparently, he’s famous as an upcoming gentleman with a lot of vigour and spirit, and he’s apparently a great business man as well or so I’ve heard.”

“Oh my, you don’t say?”

“Well then, me and Francesca will go take in some fresh air outside in the meantime. Let’s go shall we? Francesca.”

“huh, uh, yeah………”

Just as he began to walk away with her in tow, a bunch of other gentlemen came up to him and began to talk.

“Lord Aldini! If it pleases you, would you be interested in having a chat with us over there for a while……”

“There is someone I would love to introduce you to if you’re willing to give us the time. I’m sure it’ll be a fruitful time for you as well, by all means!”

“Forgive me…”

Still embracing Francesca by her shoulder, Leonardo turned around and showed his iconic amiable smile mixed with a slight darkness within it as he spoke.

“But alas, I don’t think I will find anything more fruitful than spending time with this beautiful girl I have by my side.”

Hearing the very thinly veiled refusal, the men faltered in place.

As Francesca was led down the stairs of the hallway and into the garden outside, she started feeling a little worried.

“Don’t you think this might reveal that I’m not actually a prostitute and in fact your real friend, Leonardo……?”

“I highly doubt anyone who saw or heard the scene just now would think that you were actually a close friend of mine.”

“Really? Why?”

While he did treat her quite preciously as he would with a true friend, from an outside perspective, perhaps it might not actually seem that way. While feeling that that was quite unfortunate for some reason, she walked into the garden alongside Leonardo.

At first, it was all dark and it was hard to really see anything but, Leonardo continued to escort her all the way until they were close to the lake. Soon, her eyes became accustomed to the darkness of the night as well, and she could tell her surroundings clearly.

“Wow………”

Seeing the scenery spread in front of her, Francesca exclaimed in admiration.

This building with the dance hall where the party was taking place was built right by the lake shore. The garden was facing the lake directly and the surface of the lake itself was completely calm, making it look like a mirror.

And on the still surface of the lake, the light of the waning moon and the shining stars all glittered and reflected off of it.

The stars that should be in the sky seemed to be shining on the surface of the water. The view was truly so wondrous, it felt magical.

“Leonardo, isn’t it amazing!?”

Francesca took a couple steps towards the lake, and then turned around to look back at Leonardo.

“The lake’s turned into a giant mirror, and the wind feels so refreshing.”

“Yes, it truly is quite the beautiful view. But of course, you are far more beautiful than anything the mirror could reflect.”

“There’s no around here either, I can’t sense anyone. You don’t need to act like a lovestruck gentleman here you know?”

“Hahaha.”

When she said that, Leonardo simply laughed as he too walked up to stand beside Francesca and then whispered in her ear.

“——The carriage with that man in it is coming here.”

And just as Leonardo said, from the other side of the forest, a sole carriage came trotting towards the place. Since it was dark, it was hard to properly see but she could still discern the blue lapis lazuli adorned on the carriage.

On the flag was of course the insignia of the Savini family.

“I’m sure everyone was waiting for the appearance of Marquis Savini, eh?”

“……..Indeed.”

The wind blew, and ripples appeared on the surface of the still lake.

As Leonardo black hair swayed in the wind, Francesca finally spoke.

“The request made by Lord Savini to you, was it reallyfor killing Graziano?”

Leonardo’s eyes narrowed as a deep smile appeared on his lips.
