The Bullet’s Whereabouts

“……..Ahh whatever. Still, you guys sure seem relaxed, chatting with me like this, eh?”

Isabella rotated the gun in her hand, and looked towards the crowd that had gathered in front of the Savini family carriage.

“But still, I suppose there’s not much you can do now that that man is already dead, right? Even if you now know that I was assassin all along, and no matter how much you question me, there’s no real meaning to it. Because Lord Savini is dead after all.”

“………”

“ufufu, this result’s good enough for me! I fulfilled my part. Now—…..”

With a sweet and happy smile, Isabella looked down at the gun in her hands.

“………now…….?”

As she muttered those words, her face began to distort with unease.

“…….what? What did I do? Why do I have this gun, no,……….”

“………Leonardo.”

“Yeah.”

Panic and agitation began to seep into Isabella’s voice, and she began to tremble. She ruffled through her hair with her left hand and seemed to press down on her head, and then began to repeatedly utter with a small voice.

“I shot him? I shot him. Yeah I did, after all, I had to kill him….!! I need to shoot him, kill him, I need him to die!! It was an order after all, so I had to…….!!”

She began to completely mess her hair up, and then in rough manner, aimed the gun again. The aim was towards the carriage of the Savini family again.

“Isabella-san……!?”

“Don’t you move, Francesca!”

With a shout from Leonardo, a flash of light occurred, and Isabella’s wrist was covered in blue ice. But even after being restrained by the ice made by Leonardo, Isabella continued to twist and writhe around while shouting.

“I’ll pump more bullets into him, more and more!! I MUST kill him, I have to shoot that man….!!”

(It’s just like how it was with Ricardo’s father. When you expose their lies, and corner them to a point where they can’t make any more excuses, their mental condition begins to worsen and their mind begins to warp and distort.)

“……..But.”

Isabella collapsed to the ground on her knees, and then muttered.

“……….Whose order was it………?”

(I knew it, Isabella-san has been brainwashed by the mastermind as well…..!!)

Francesca hurriedly raised her head, and quickly pulled out the gun she had hidden in her thigh. She aimed it up in the air and fired it, and the flare bullet she had loaded into it trailed across the night sky like a bright shooting star and disappeared with a bursting pop sound.

(The signal’s been made! While that person comes here…….)

Even the people that normally couldn’t enter this venue would be allowed to come in case of an emergency. The flare bullet she fired was a signal to indicate that, and with the loud sound of another gunshot, the guests began to scream and panic again.

“Another gunshot!! Run, run!!”

“But, Lord Savini got shot, what about him!?!”

“Who’s got the time to care about him!? There’s a killer loose here!! Oi, let me go out first!!”

Even the crowd surrounding the carriage quickly began to run towards the dance hall. The hall was still covered in darkness after the strong wind had blown all the lights off but, they certainly weren’t going to run into the forest or towards the lake either, were they?

Amongst it all, Isabella muttered in a low voice.

“………killer……..?”

Her mind was still in complete chaos, as she stared at the gun lying beside her.

“Am I the……….but I, I had decided that I would never kill a person again though…”

“Isabella-san……..”

Among the past of the Isabella that Graziano had investigated, there was a portion of her life that he had deemed a [complete blank].

Even if you investigate a person of the underworld, you won’t get all the info that easily. Which means, she was certainly someone that had always lived deep in the underworld, and a part of her past had been completely erased.

“……..big sis Sofia picked me up, and gave me a life without killing. And yet why? Why did I end up shooting someone again? I don’t even know. But there’s no mistake, I did indeed pull the trigger…….”

As she smelled the smoke from the gun in the air, Isabella suddenly shrieked.

“I killed someone again…..!?!”

It was at that moment.

Since all the people around them had run away, the figure of the person who had collapsed in front of the carriage became a lot clearer. Light brown hair, tall in height, the man slowly began to get back up on his feet.

“……….ahh, that hurt………”

“eh………….”

In a hoarse voice, Isabella blinked in shock.

The man who stood up surely must have seemed like Marquis Savini himself to Isabella. Not just her, except Francesca and Leonardo, everyone would have thought that.

“But, how…….? I’m sure I hit you right at the left side of your chest.”

“I put on a multiple layers of bulletproof vests and then used my body enhancement skill on top of it. A mere bullet ain’t much in comparison.”

With a calm look, the man said that but in truth he was still hurting a lot. But regardless, the man had stood back up straight making Francesca laugh in relief.

“Even though I was sure that you’d be fine, I was still a bit worried. You sure you’re not hurt anywhere?”

“But of course.”

Dressed up like the Marquis Savini, and adorned in the lapis lazuli brooch, Graziano loosened his necktie as he spoke.

“If I wasn’t, there’d be no point in me pretending to be that man right?”

“——As expected of Graziano!”

Since he possessed [Body Enhancement] skill, Francesca had further enhanced it to make this plan work. Graziano, disguised as his father, laughed in a boastful manner.

“Aah, I’m so glad.”

And then came a solitary clapping sound from Leonardo, one that didn’t seem very genuine.

(I had a feeling…)

That this was not over just yet. Francesca once again affirmed that seeing Leonardo’s attitude.

(………There’s more than one [assassin] in here.)

Francesca braced herself, and then turned around to face Leonardo once again.
