The Black Necromancer

321 Labyrinth Of Madness(2) - The Tentacled Monster

Boom!

Leon's concentration rose as he manipulated the mana in the air to form miniature pockets of compressed gravity that warped and crushed the bodies of the high level demonic beasts that were rushing his way. There were about seven of them, but because of their rather one dimensional style of fighting, as well as their lack of any explosive abilities, Leon was easily able to predict and guide their patterns and avoid pressuring himself too much.

He was the only one present in the fight against the monsters. It had been an hour since he and his summons entered the dungeon, and not long after, they had come across their first fork in the path.

In order to cover more space quickly, Leon had chosen to split his summons into groups where they would not be overwhelmed, but still face enough pressure to push through their bottlenecks. He set up Fenrir and Ignis, Seth and Tyrant, Oris all alone, and the Peak B rank Sentinel Millipedes all together. As for Kaladin, Nero and Grokus, they had also each gone their separate ways in order to maximize their own growth.

Graaa!

The four legged demonic beasts growled and hissed their their bodies were dragged, twisted and ripped apart by the conflicting masses of gravity.

[Level 22 Abominable Hell Hound killed. You have leveled up!]

Leon smiled as he killed the final monster and leveled up. He had already leveled up a few times since he split up with his summons, and he was now somewhere in the eighties.

[Your skill: <Intermediate Gravity Magic> has leveled up!]

[Your skill: <Intermediate Dark Magic> has leveled up!]

A few more skill level up notifications came in but Leon paid them no mind as he left the area he was in.

"Is it just me, or is this place filled with Unholy energy, a good place to level up some of my skills?" Leon asked curiously as he realized that the skill that had leveled up the most ever since he stepped in here was his Dark magic skill. Immediately, he decided that he would use as much Dark magic as he could in order to max out the level and upgrade it to the Advanced Grade.

As Leon was contemplating, he felt a sudden shift in the space around him and raised his level of alertness.

Whoosh!

Even though Leon's senses were primed and sharp, he was not able to evade the sudden spatial displacement spell that enveloped him and transported him elsewhere.

"What?!" Leon looked around quickly as he took in the place he had appeared at. It was strange, and looked like an illusionary space. "What the hell is this?!"

The sky was blue and without a single cloud. But there was no solid ground underneath him. Instead, it was all blue water that stretched out in all directions.

"Welcome to my Domain." A voice boomed as a being appeared in front of him. If Leon tried to best describe this being, then he would call it a bipedal octopus. Eight fleshy limbs waved around the mysterious being whose body seemed to have been made entirely from red flesh.

"Who are you?" Leon asked.

"Me? You do not need to know who I am. You are prey that has fallen into my trap." The monster growled deeply. His face held four short tentacles that covered his mouth, and at this moment, they lifted up to reveal a gaping maw that held no teeth. For some reason, the absence of teeth irked Leon even more.

'I can't afford to take this lightly.' Leon brought himself back to reality as he felt the strength of the creature pulse off from its body in waves. Sure enough, it was a High A rank monster. 'I was getting tired of fighting those dumb monsters anyway.' He shrugged and called upon his trusty Spirit Companion.

The creature's Domain had something to do with spatial isolation, but it was completely different from what Garrix had used to isolate Leon from his companions before. Because of that, he was able to still call upon his summons and communicate with them. However, he did not do any of that, and instead called up Nedra.

"Need some help?" Nedra appeared in her human form with a grin on her face. Her signature Kamas were held in her hands as she made a pose that she had seen on a poster on Earth.

"Ew, please stop doing that." Leon was reminded of all those cute Lolita that he had seen in some anime back on Earth. He was a man of culture, not a simp for washboards and petite figures.

"Hey! Don't think of such dirty things!" Nedra slapped Leon's side with a pout.

The tentacled monster apparently did not like the fact that they were disregarding his presence and expressed it.

"DO NOT IGNORE MY PRESENCE!!!" He waved his tentacles and slammed them down, raising a massive wave of water that surged forward to engulf Leon and Nedra. The two of them instantly reacted and raised their hands to counter. They both possessed relatively high level Water magic skills, so they should normally have been able to fend off such an attack.

However, their attempts did not work!

"Fools! Only I reign supreme within my Domain!" The tentacled monster exclaimed as their attempts to manipulate the incoming wave failed and it crashed into them.

"Argh!" Leon felt an overwhelming pressure slam into his mind, shaking him up. 'A mental attack?'

Indeed! Not only was the attack of the tentacled monster physical, but it was also mental!

Leon grunted as he got back to his feet. He was right earlier, he could not underestimate this monster. Although his combat strength was technically Mid A rank, while the monster's was High A rank, which was separated by just one stage, that did not mean that everything was going to be easy. A person's power did not just come from their energy level, mana reserves, or other things that could easily be observed. The strangest abilities all existed out there, and if used well, could fell enemies that should have ordinarily squashed the weaker party!
