Chapter 36: There it is again, this template

“Hey, you got a minute?

“Come with us for a minute.”

It was during one of the class breaks.

I was about to return to the classroom after a quick washroom break when two people called out to me. I turned around to see who they were, and they were someone I remembered quite well… they had an expression full of conviction.

They were both in the same grade and were the boys who confessed their feelings to Arisa and Aina respectively.

“Doumoto-kun…”

“It’s alright, you should go.”

“… Okay.”

I said this to a classmate who happened to be in the bathroom with me. Somehow I knew what these two wanted. On the contrary, I was wondering why it hadn’t happened already. I saw my classmate off and followed them.

“I’ve got another class, and I’d appreciate it if you’d hurry up.”

“I know.”

And so I was taken to a staircase landing where there were few people waiting for us.

Although there is a certain amount of activity here during lunch breaks and the like, it is still a break time between classes, so there are not many people passing by.

“So? What do you want?”

To put it bluntly, they were getting on my nerves. I think they sensed it from the tone of my voice, and they raised their eyebrows slightly… probably because they thought I looked like a cocky shady guy.

What do you two want with me, that’s what I thought.

“I’ll be brief. What did you do to Shinjo-san?”

“You’ve got something on them, don’t you?”

“… Hah.”

It was exactly what I had expected.

I let out a sigh, but I’m intending to tell them exactly what needs to be said, without giving any definite clarification about the girls.

“I didn’t do anything wrong to them. We are just that close enough to hang out.”

“Bullshit. The Shinjo Sisters have never been with any particular guy until now. How could we not consider it strange when you showed up out of nowhere and they?”

… Such nonsense.

Here’s the thing, no matter what I say, these two will not be convinced. From their point of view, they must’ve been thinking of me as a bad bug that has been approaching the girls, they seemingly won’t agree with anything I’d say, I can see that in their eyes.

“I only have one thing to say to you. Stop bothering the girls.”

… They’re getting on my nerves.

“I’ve no intention of bothering them. At least, I didn’t bother them by confessing without reading the atmosphere the day after they had gone through a hard time, or by clinging to them badly after they had already rejected your confessions.”

“What did you just say…?”

The boy who confessed to Aina tried to grab me, and in return I twisted his hand the other way around.

“I’m serious about them, and I always have been, and I always will be.”

I would never let those girls go.

Just as I, Arisa, Aina and Sakuna-san do care for me. And not even millions of years I’d think of doing something stupid like distancing myself from them because of people’s opinion on me. I’m not the only one who gets hurt by that, it’s the three of them as well.

“Get the f**k off me, you piece of s**t.”

“I’ll let you go, but we’re done talking here.”

“No, you can’t. Until you promise to stay away from the Shinjo sisters.”

This b***h…!

I was about to put some strength into the hand that I was holding when I heard a voice which echoed in the air.

“He doesn’t have to promise any of that.”

“Yeah. I see no reason for him to do what you want.”

“… Ah!”

“Shinjo-san…”

The ones who appeared were Arisa and Aina.

Alongside my two friends, they came and stood behind me.

Apparently that classmate of mine earlier told them of what happened.

The two girls who came down the stairs slowly stopped by me. And Arisa took my hand.

“Let him go. Hayato-kun, thank you… I heard what you said earlier. It makes me so happy.”

“Un-un. You were so cool, my heart can’t stop throbbing.”

They looked at me with a smile.

The other two were stunned by the sudden appearance of the two, but soon they each opened their mouths to Arisa and Aina.

“Shinjo-san, we just—”

“—trying to free you from this guy.”

At that moment, Arisa’s expression changed, only slightly, but Aina clicked her tongue rather loudly.

However, she immediately took a deep breath, calmed herself down, and slowly turned around.

“I don’t understand what you guys are talking about. My sister and I really want to be there for Hayato-kun. You’re going to free us? Stop talking in your sleep.”

“A-Aina-san…”

“Don’t call me by my name.”

Aina sharpened her gaze and on one of the boys who shook his shoulders involuntarily. I was surprised at Aina’s bold speech, but it seems that Arisa was the same way.

“Don’t talk to us. It’s annoying.”

“I’m just…”

“That’s enough. I hate you guys.”

“N…”

Finally they both looked down.

Is this the end of the story…? I suddenly glanced behind me and saw that my two friends also seemed to be scared by Arisa and Aina’s demeanor.

… Well, sure, I was a little scared, too.

It was the first moment I ever saw them get angry, but it was also the moment I vowed very strongly not to do something to piss them off, too.(E/N: A feeling every man will experience, getting scared of getting into the bad side of a woman, lmao.)

“Come, let’s go home.”

“Come on, Hayato-kun.”

“Yeah.”

Just when the two boys were trying to say something, when we were about to walk away.

“Chu~.”

“Hmn…”

Arisa and Aina each kissed my cheek.

I was surprised at what they just did, but it seems that the two boys were even more shocked than I was.

“What are you…?”

“O-oi… what just…”

We walked away from them never to see them again.

I didn’t expect to be kissed in that situation, even if it was on the cheek, I was quite surprised but both of them were just smiling.

“We showed them, Nee-san.”

“Yeah. I was uncomfortable in the classroom with all the staring, so I guess it would serve as a good medicine.”

Given that those two guys had feelings for the girls, this prescription was the best medicine they could have.

Well, I can’t disagree that I was pretty annoyed with them, too.

I never meant to embarrass them both, or cause them any trouble in the first place.

I had been thinking about such scenarios, and thought of ways to deal with such people. It was still vexing to have people say such things about our relationship.

“I guess when they get angry it becomes like that…”

“… Maybe I should stop making fun of Hayato now?”

“Making fun of Hayato-kun?”

“Ara, what did I just hear?”

“Hiii?”

“Somebody helppp!”

The two of them quickly ran to the classroom, seeing them flee, Arisa and Aina couldn’t stop laughing.

“Well, we’d better get a move on. See you at lunch then.”

“Yeah. Let’s go, Aina.”

“Un… But first. Hayato-kun!”

“Eh what…?”

Aina came in front of me, stood tall and kissed my lips.

I stared at Aina in surprise as she smiled and moved away. Naturally, Arisa also came close to me to show her rivalry, but it was Aina who stopped her.

“Come on, Nee-san, hurry up or we’ll be late for class. You can kiss him next time, okay?”

“That’s not fair, Aina! Hayato-kun, Hayato-kun~~~~!”

“Ahaha…”

Apparently, Aina is cut above Arisa.

I smiled at Arisa as she was pulled along by Aina, then I went back to my class.
