[Kaisar’s POV]
I was uncomfortable with how Bridgette, who sat next to me, was very quiet.
About a week ago, after being exposed to the dark truth of the Modell family and realizing—or mistakenly believing— that I had come to know about that dark truth, Bridgette called me into the thicket after school and begged me to make it easy on her quickly.
Her face was lifeless, and her eyes were so vacant with dark circles that one would have thought she was an undead or something.
She has such a strong sense of justice, which suggests that she would not have been able to forgive or believe in the dark truth of the Modell family.
Bridgette seemed to be coming to school, but instead of following me like before, she appeared to be researching something.
If it were the usual Bridgette, she would be swinging a wooden sword instead of looking at books and papers.
I was curious about what she was looking at and tried to take a peek at the documents she was reading, but they got blocked with magic from my view, and I had no idea what she was looking into as if she was obsessed.
She may be looking for clues that touch on the dark truth of the Modell family.
Until today, I thought so. And I was sure of it.
But then I saw Bridgette kneeling in front of me in the thicket after school.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
I really don’t understand why.
No matter which angle I looked, I had no idea why Bridgette was down on her knees and bowing her head in front of me, even though she called me here to settle a grudge.
If you don’t know, you should ask. And so I asked directly.
“Forgive me for any offence I may have caused you.”
“… What about?”
“I am sorry that I, a mere mortal, could not comprehend your wisdom but instead looked down and despised you. I apologize for my past disrespect, Kaisar-sama.”
Although it is nice to hear, I couldn’t understand why.
Perhaps Bridgette has become stupid from the intense stress she got exposed to?
I hold back the desire to think of such a way and throw them away from my mind.
“I forgive you. I forgive you. Explain yourself.”
“I am deeply touched by your generosity, Kaisar-sama.”
I think, ‘Just tell me quickly,’ but don’t say anything and wait for her to continue.
“I was so puzzled with Kaisar-sama’s conduct for the past week that I have been investigating why you had to break off your engagement with Lady Sufia in the way that you did.”
