Chapter 24 – Yandere and Loved One Part 1

It’s always after 9:00 p.m. when I finish my part-time job. I always think it’s great that the students, middle and high school, work hard until late, not to mention us tutors. Well, most kids tend to lose focus because they are sleepy, though.

“What are you going to do when you get home, Takenaga-sensei? Play games?”

“College students have to study and do many other things. Come on, you too, go home soon.”

“Eh, staying a little bit longer is fine, isn’t it?”

“You can turn off the lights now, Principal.”

“Forcing me to leave!?”

“Yes, yes. Get going now.”

Would it be excessive to say that he could direct a little more of that enthusiasm into the class? We were chatting a lot in class earlier, but I guess it wasn’t enough. But this is my job, so I can’t keep playing around too much.

How to keep students motivated, this is probably the eternal challenge for tutors.

“Oh, you’ve finished cleaning up too, Takenaga-sensei?”

“Yeah, I think I’ll go home now. Principal, can we close the classroom now?”

“No, I have a few more things to do, so go ahead and leave first.”

“I understand. Shall we go home, Asai-sensei?”

“Yes.”

There are two other part-time instructors besides us, but it seems they left already. The only ones left are me and Asai-sensei. Me and Asai-sensei, huh…? I’m starting to get a little nervous because of all the things that have happened.

When I opened the door at the back of the cram school, a humid breeze enveloped my entire body.

“It seems Honjo-san didn’t come today.”

“I can never read what she’s thinking. I think she just does what she feels like in the moment.”

“Hmm… How about we go and have a few drinks? I have some things I want to talk to you about.”

“Ah, I wonder if we should.”

Today is Thursday and I still have to go to college tomorrow. I really don’t want to stay up too late.

But I don’t have first period tomorrow, so there’s no need to get up that early. Also, Asai-sensei is a bit s**y when she drinks… I’m afraid I’d be in big trouble if Tsubaki found out about my dirty mind.

“Will you be alright, Asai-sensei? You commute from your parents’ home in Takarazuka, right?”

“Don’t worry. My parents are easy-going and will let me stay over at a friend’s house once in a while.”

“Eh, stay over?”

“Ah, we won’t be until that late, will we? Hahaha.”

“No, no, I don’t mind at all, haha.”

What is this? It’s getting weird again. Well, I’m a college student, and sometimes I drink too much and can’t go home. Besides, Asai-sensei and I are just colleagues, for now that is. That’s right. There’s no problem.

“Let’s go to the restaurant for the time being. We’ll think about the rest then.”

“R-Right!”

At any rate, for the time being, we decided to go into the izakaya restaurant right in front of us–Not!

“Yes, yes, that’s enough, that’s enough, what were you thinking, you b***h? I would never allow you to lay your hands on my senpai, you vile beast.”

“Whoa, there she is.”

“Not ‘whoa’! Why is senpai about to be swept away too! Ah, you were just playing around with me, were you…? I’m hurt. Please take responsibility and marry me.”

“Shouldn’t I be the one paid alimony here?”

The moment I put my hand on the doorknob to the izakaya, Tsubaki stepped in between me and Asai-sensei. Where does she appear from, really?

“I let you swim around a little bit, and this is what happens. There can be no room for error.”

“You… I don’t care about me, but stop bothering Asai-sensei.”

“You’re defending that woman!? Ah, poor senpai, you’ve been completely seduced… I’m going to save you.”

Tsubaki gently pats me on the shoulder as she pulls me and Asai-sensei apart. It feels like I’m being crawled on by a snake. Disgusting sweat runs down my flanks.

“Ah, I’m sorry, Honjo-san. I have no intention of keeping Takenaga-sensei to myself.”

“Huh? That’s not a very convincing excuse at this point. You’ve been caught red-handed.”

“I know how much you care about Takenaga-sensei. Besides, Takenaga-sensei seems to enjoy being with you.”

“W-Well, you seem to understand that much.”

Asai-sensei is strangely holding Tsubaki’s shoulders, so Tsubaki is getting back to normal from her warlike posture. But what is this leeway of Asai-sensei? She’s not going to say something weird again, is she…?

“If you understand, please stay away from senpai in the future.”

“That’s impossible. That’s not even what Takenaga-sensei would want.”

“Huh? What you’ve been saying since a while ago is messed up.”

“Ah, perhaps Honjo-san…hasn’t heard anything from Takenaga-sensei?”

Asai-sensei looks at Tsubaki with eyes that are sincerely sorry. Tsubaki, who has no idea what Asai-sensei is talking about, is naturally indignant at being pitied. You can be angry all you want, Tsubaki, but please don’t grab my shoulders with your grip. It hurts…

“What are you trying to say? There is no secret between me and senpai.”

“Eh… I wonder if it’s okay for me to talk about it on my own. But it doesn’t seem like Takenaga-sensei has said anything to Honjo-san.”

“Senpai, I feel like I’m being mounted and it’s really pissing me off, so can I kick her?”

“Calm down, calm down. I’m sorry, Asai-sensei, but I don’t get what you’re talking about either…”

“You see, Honjo-san, Takenaga-sensei is polyamorous. Usually, people are monoamorous, that means they have a romantic relationship with one person, but polyamorous is the desire for a romantic relationship with more than one person.”

Asai-sensei gave her explanation gently and carefully, as if she were speaking to a student. Tsubaki stares at her stunned, and then turns around and asks me.

“Hey, senpai. She’s talking nonsense again. What should we do? Should we refer her to a hospital or something?”

“She’s on a level where she’s seriously worried… But I guess it’s not the first time she’s made her assumptions.”

“Senpai, please give her a good talking-to here. If things continue as they are, Asai-san will just be a pain in the a*s.”

“That’s true.”

I moved away from Tsubaki and turned to Asai-sensei. Ah, don’t look at me with such pure eyes… I’m starting to feel guilty…

“You see, Asai-sensei. I’m not that poly-whatever you said. I’ll go out with one woman properly, and I intend to live my life facing only her.”

“Eh!? Is that so!? I misunderstood again… It’s so embarrassing…”

Asai-sensei is blatantly shocked, blushing and shaking her head. This clunkiness is starting to look more and more adorable. Maybe I’m pretty weird too…

“But then, Takenaga-sensei, who is your favorite? Is it Honjo-san? You and Tatsutagawa-san were good friends too, weren’t you? Or maybe…me, or something like that…”

Oh, no. Something about Asai-sensei is really starting to look lovely. At the same time, Tsubaki is in the form of a demon, which isn’t good for me either. This is bad in more than one sense. I need to think…! I need a way to get out of this situation safely…
