Neria and I went to Duke Johan´s mansion since after three years we finally caught, killed or disposed of the people on the list he gave us after we cleared that they indeed had connections to the vampires but even though the vampires were defeated I was quite depressed

"Come on Val your status may be stagnating since the attack in Rigirio but your still on par with an A-Class adventurer or perhaps an S-Class already" Neria tried to cheer me up

"You don´t understand it at all after all this is the very first wall I experience and no matter what I fought I can't overcome it," I said making my anger air after all I was supposed not to meet a wall through the cheat ability the goddess of reincarnation granted me so I didn´t understand what happened

"I can understand you after all I experienced two walls so I can say you of all people will overcome it" Neria still tired to cheer me up even she wouldn´t kick me when I am like this so she was quite nice to me

"What the heck should I kill to do so, after all, there was a Rank 10 monster which I killed but I only rose by 1 level do I actually have to kill a rank 13 or what," I said while we were guided to the meeting room with the duke it wasn´t noteworthy we were thanked for the work we did and got our reward afterward he once again tried to hire us as personal adventurers but we declined once again and then headed to the guild

At the guild, we first went to the quest board but to our surprise, no high ranking quests were available the highest subjugation quest was a rank 6 monster but this was nothing special for us so we simply sat down and drank something as we heard a rumor from a corner

"Did you hear that in the northern mountains an entire region was annihilated by a monster" but I didn´t pay attention to it

"Hey Val, if this rumor is true then..." Neria began but I shot her down

"Auron would have told us if something like this would be true and I doubt that these D-Class adventurers would hold informations the duke himself doesn´t have," I said while drinking my wine

"Since your level grows so slowly you seem less motivated," Neria said looking at me with a nerved look on her face but I didn´t care about this my treatment rose extremely since we cooperated with an adventurer who was reckless enough to storm a room filled with undead without any reason

"I only say the truth how in Vidas name should a monster which annihilated an entire region alone does so unnoticed by the officials can you answer me this?" I asked her and of course, no answer came but an annoyed sound

We spend the rest of the day in the guild listening to all kinds of rumors, stories and what else happened in the world it seems the Mirg-Shieldnation prepared for war again the Amid-Empire had a new pope and the Peaceful Alda faction in Orbaume grew stronger thanks to Isabell who widened her influence

As the sun vanished behind the horizon we went to the room we rent and I laid on my bed as Neria laid herself next to me

"You know this is no incident?" I said referring to her usual excuses but this time she didn´t waver as usual

"I feel cold," she said and turned around

"We have summer and actually it´s incredibly hot outside

"The cooling magic item works to good," she said with a tone I couldn´t describe since she muttered into her pillow

"It is empty and currently holds no magic," I said and looked at the ceiling

"You are dense you know?" She pointed out and again was a bit angry

"I am not, I was just waiting how long it would take you to throw away this attitude of yours calling me an idiot every minute during our adventures," I said and I could see a black aura leaking out of Neria but I tried my best to ignore it

"Your ideas are stupid you know," she said and the black aura wavered between strong and weak as if she was fighting to suppress it

"But they work in the end" I pointed out the fact that 95% of my ideas work in the end the rest failed due to unpredictable circ.u.mstances

"This much I have to admit but you have this attitude to keep your plans partly a secret is not good for adventurers with this finding persons that would be ready to party with us is close to impossible," she said and it was true since 3 years we searched for new companions to support us but we didn´t found anyone

"I always tell you everything that is necessary though," I said still looking at the ceiling

"Then what about this slaying quests you went to do alone? You leave me behind when you go and kill ghouls or lamias and other monsters the goddess created why do you do it" Neria asked me and I sighed

'I can´t really tell her that I don´t kill them but instead take them to protected areas where certain accepted races of Vida live. If I told her what would she say? This is something you can´t read in any book' I worried as my usual excuse was failing this time

"I tried to follow you but you always vanished without a trace is this teleportation?" she tried to dig in my abilities

"I don´t know what you are talking about," I said and started to whistle

"You know very well so why are you taking all the quests slaying Vida´s races alone? Is it because you like to rampage? No, you don´t rampage unless you are severely angered. Perhaps you know something about them you don´t want to come to light? Perhaps but this isn´t the answer. Then you are saving them and claim you killed them without leaving a trace of them" Neria came behind it

"HUH?!" I let out a surprised voice but before Neria could say anything the door was opened forcefully and a girl shouted

"B-Class adventurers Valkorion and Neria please come..." the girl began to turn red and turned around with a loud "Sorry to interrupt you"

'Just how often will I meet this interruption shit? It isn´t funny anymore though I have to admit it saved me this time...' I thought the moment she closed the door with a loud bang

We stood up and went after her while she was still red like a tomato lead us to the guild and we saw nearly every adventurer the capital housed on the plaza before the building and the Guild Master stood on a podium

"This is an emergency request from the Dukedom in the northern region a Rank 11 monster leading weaker monsters was spotted and already annihilated the northern territory therefore we beg all adventurers to participate in the extermination of this threat" he shouted and I dropped my jaw as I heard this the rumor was true and I saw Neria looking at me with a 'I said it' kind of look on her face

"What about Sun Spear let him handle this" some adventurers shouted and well normally this was something an A-Class adventurer should be capable of

"Sadly Sun Spear was already killed by this monster and his horde" the Guild master shouted and the plaza went quite then panic followed

"The Sun Spear was killed! Then we are lost!" such shout were heard in the crowd but I could see that not all adventurers gave in to despair and I stepped forward

"Shut the F.u.c.k up you cowards!!!" I shouted at them and everything turned quiet

"You dare to call yourself adventurers? If you have not the balls to fight this threat than just run away but stop blocking the way for the ones that have this courage protect the citizens that flee from the battle of those that challenge this monster, help the wounded that got hurt, save the ones that can´t save themself but don´t run away only thinking about yourself. Who comes from a village that was attacked by monsters? Those of you know this feeling when no one comes when they attack, the loses you suffered" I addressed the ones that looked at me with eyes of understanding the ones that truly experience a monster attack "Now you became adventurers and have the chance to become the one you ever dreamed of to save your families so get the f.u.c.k out there and do your damn jobs" I ordered them and the plaza went quiet again

"Yoo, lad you have such loud mouth do you even have the courage to challenge this Rank 11 yourself or are you just spitting words" an adventurer stepped forward he had silver hair and reddish eyes one could mistake him for a vampire but the silver amulet on his neck prove otherwise

"I will go out there and fight this monster do you intend to join me?" I asked him back and he laughed

"Haha, not really I just wanted to know if you are a fool and I got my answer how can a B-Class like you challenge this thing?" he asked and I heard some voice questioning as well

"Something will work out but at least I will fight it so I ask every high ranking adventurer to help me doing it I can´t guarantee victory but if we flee we already lost," I said and three others stepped forward

"You got my spear dude I wanted to fight this thing anyway" a beast-man with a spear shouted and another probably his sister if one looked closely nodded

"My shield shall be yours in the name of our great goddess Vida" another man with a ridiculous giant shield in shape of a cross shouted in joy as he praised Vida

"I will come as well," Neria said joining the line

"You see like this we will challenge it," I said to the silver-haired adventurer

"Fine I will give it a try but don´t expect much from me," he said and surprised me

"I thought..." I began

"I would run away? Well I would have if you went alone but like this, I will give it a try" he said but he didn´t say why he did so

"Hoh all B-Class adventurers of the City are going to challenge this monster," the Guild Master said

and gave further instructions while we slowly headed northwards
