Chapter 16: Now children of each other

After considering various things, I decided to follow Otoo-sama. Perhaps it’s better not to get involved with Julian-sama to avoid a bad ending.

Just because we don’t meet now doesn’t mean we won’t forever, given the Quatra family’s position. So I thought it would be better if I met Julian-sama while we were still young.

If only I could become less arrogant, I’m sure we can avoid that future. It’s a matter of not touching Princess Chai.

“Welcome. Aliseteen, nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you, Your Majesty the Queen. I am Aliseteen Quatra, the eldest daughter of the Quatra family.”

Wrapped in the honey-colored evening dress chosen by Lili, I smile and curtsy.

Katrina, the current king’s wife and Julian’s mother. The impression I have of her is that she is a very beautiful person. That’s all, there doesn’t seem to be anything else particularly noteworthy about her.

She’s not particularly strong-willed or decisive, but she’s harmless and inoffensive. As someone who would become a future mother-in-law, she was very good.

“Even though she’s only five years old, she’s very smart.”

“It’s an honor to be praised by Her Majesty the Queen.”

“And your face is as lovely as an angel’s.”

Internally, I nod in agreement. Otoo-sama seems very satisfied that I’m being praised.

“Today, I want to introduce Julian. Can you bring him here?”

“As you wish.”

As expected of a maid from the royal family, her behavior and appearance are flawless. However, I prefer Lili much more. Because she’s not here today, I feel a sense of unease in my chest.

After a while, Julian-sama from his childhood days arrives, accompanied by his nursemaid. I’m surprised for a moment, but I’m also only five years old, so it’s only natural that he’s also young.

Julian-sama’s gray eyes take in the irises and emit a very mysterious light. Even if I knew him, I couldn’t help but be captivated by his gaze, but he quickly averted his eyes.

As I thought, Julian-sama has had a bad feeling about me since then. His face is truly beautiful, though.

“Julian, say hello. This is Aliseteen-san from the Duke Quatra family.”

“Nice to meet you, Your Highness Julian. My name is Aliseteen.”

I lift the hem of my dress and smile. Julian-sama only nodded slightly without even looking at me.

“I’m sorry. It’s embarrassing to compare to Aliseteen-san.”

“Not at all. Both of you look very wise and I look forward to seeing your future.”

“Aliseteen-san, would you like to play with Julian for a while?”

The Queen asks me, and I consider my response.

It would be strange to refuse, so I should respond safely.

“Yes, Your Majesty, I would be happy to.”

“Well, that’s lovely. Good for you, Julian.”

Julian-sama stands just behind Her Majesty the Queen, nodding silently with a blank expression.

Back then, perhaps due to my young age, Julian-sama seemed truly charming to me.

Looking back now, I probably didn’t need to cling to him like I did. After all, he didn’t seem to have any interest in me at all.

Still, I couldn’t go against the Queen. So I ran up to Julian-sama and smiled like a five-year-old child.
