The Guide Is Fixing His Regrets

Vancouver, Canada, has a 16-hour time difference from Korea. They arrived in the morning when the sun had just risen. A cold wind swept past So-Won as he leaned out of the plane. The morning air was cold, and So-Won trembled.

It was much colder in Korea. If Korea is autumn, here it is winter. Unable to adapt to the sudden temperature change So-Won continued to tremble.

So-Won brought some thick clothes but couldn’t open his suitcase in the middle of the runway and take it out. So-Won carefully closed the thin cardigan and clung close to Tae-Woo. The large body shielded the wind and made him feel a bit better.

When he came down to the ground, two people waiting nearby approached. So-Won noticed that they were the guide for him and Tae-Woo.

“Good morning, Esper Kang Tae-Woo and Guide Lee So-won. Welcome to Canada.”

He grabbed his outstretched hand with a bright smile, and So-Won asked vaguely.

“You’re Korean, right?”

“Yes, that’s right. It is a principle that those dispatched from overseas would be guided by people from the same country.”

So-Won’s face brightened. He didn’t have to worry because he couldn’t speak a foreign language. The man who introduced himself as a guide looked similar to So-Won in age. The friendly impression and kind attitude eased So-Won’s tension little by little.

The two guides introduced themselves as a pair of A-Class guide and esper. Neither of them seemed surprised to see Tae-Woo.

Some people became flustered seeing the veins on his face, but now that they look at his face, no one would feel it was strange.

As soon as he stepped outside, So-Won noticed an expensive car with the Canadian Association logo on it.

“Is there any place you want to visit before going to the accommodation?”

“None.”

“Then we will go straight to the area where the gate is open.”

So-Won nodded and got into the car. It was warm inside. The body that the cold wind had frozen felt warm. As they moved to the accommodation, the guide in charge explained the schedule.

Today’s schedule was only a target meeting held in the evening. Even so, only Tae-Woo had to participate, so there was almost no schedule for So-Won. The guide finished explaining and closed his mouth. He told them to rest while moving because they must have been tired from coming a long way. After that, silence flowed in the car.

So-Won kept tossing and turning. He was sitting on the plane all this time, but he felt uncomfortable trying to move by car for a long time. He wasn’t interested in the exotic scenery they passed by. As time passed, So-Won’s head was filled with the thought of arriving quickly and relaxing his stiff body.

“I think we’ll be arriving soon.”

After a few hours of the same scenery with only trees, the good news finally came. So-Won, whose butt was slowly throbbing, checked out the window with a happy expression. But there were only dense forests all over.

“Is there an accommodation in a place like this?”

“Yes. Unlike Korea, in countries with large land like Canada, gates are often opened in remote areas, so we use temporary accommodations that can be moved. Oh, I see it over there.”

So-Won turned his eyes along where the guide pointed. He wondered if he could see something through the tall trees, but soon after, a large building came out with a vast flatland made by cutting the mountain. The clean exterior felt like a hotel rather than a temporary accommodation. It was a place that would only appear in the movie because it was set in a snowy mountain in the distance.

So-Won arrived in front of the accommodation, unloaded and looked around. People who came earlier than expected were walking around in comfortable clothes.

“Are all people here dispatched to the gate?”

“Except for a few employees, that’s the case.”

Although the dispatch of an S-class gate is near, everyone’s expressions are bright, so So-Won feels like an ordinary tourist. Surprised by the atmosphere quite different from Korea’s, So-Won moved into the building.

When foreign languages were heard from all sides, his body shrank by itself. So-Won hid behind Tae-Woo and shut his mouth until they arrived at the room. After seeing the floor was empty, So-Won relaxed his rigid body. Several other rooms were in the hallway but were far away.

“We’re going to get going. I’ll revisit you before the target meeting starts, so please relax until then.”

“Thank you.”

They exchanged numbers in front of the room and broke up. When So-Won brought the room card handed over from the lobby to the door, the door opened with a cheerful mechanical sound.

So-Won, who checked the room’s interior, was once again impressed as if he were on a private plane. Is this a temporary accommodation? Tae-Woo was dispatched from abroad and given a good room because he was S-class, but it was incomparable to the waiting room in Korea.

First of all, the spacious living room welcomed the So-Won. He could see the wooded forest through the large window. So-Won paused for a moment in front of the window and looked outside. He heard that there was a lake nearby with a small promenade, but he couldn’t see it from there.

On one side was the door to the bedroom. Tired from the long journey, So-Won opened the door with high expectations, imagining a cozy bed. However, the moment he checked the inside, he froze in place.

“Rose petals…”

The white bed was strewn with petals. He looked closely, and it was in the shape of a heart. The red rose form in the shape of a heart greeted So-Won. A sweet scent flowed through the open door like he had sprayed perfume.

Was it a honeymoon, not an overseas dispatch?

So-Won was greatly flustered. It is an event ambitiously prepared by the Canadian Association to welcome the precious S-class Esper. Still, So-Won and Tae-Woo were not close enough to heat the atmosphere at this embarrassing event. Instead, if they were in the same room, they might just dig the ground and go to the other side of Canada due to the ever-deepening awkwardness.

So-Won raised his head. Tae-Woo’s face was seen through the half-open door. Tae-Woo, who looked inside to see what So-Won was doing, made eye contact with So-Won for a moment and soon lowered his gaze to the bright red petals on the bed.

There was a moment of silence. So-Won’s face became as red as a rose on the bed as it heated up.

So-Won let go of the blanket. He didn’t want to create a more strange atmosphere by shaking off the already caught petals. So-Won, who came out without a word, quietly closed the door and covered the bedroom. The neckline, revealed by lowering its head, was still red.

“Hey… Tae-Woo, aren’t you hungry?”

Even though it was clear that So-Won was forced to change the subject, Tae-Woo nodded quietly.

So-Won and Tae-Woo left the room and headed for the restaurant. They can ask someone to bring food to the room, but he felt he couldn’t shake the awkwardness by constantly glancing at the room with the bed. Walking around would be a good idea because they were just sitting in the plane and the car.

All the people they encountered in the hallway walked around the accommodation in light clothes as if they had come to play. Most of them have this atmosphere, so So-Won felt like a tourist who joined the newlyweds.

Looking at the people, the roses on the bed naturally came to mind.

So-Won, who was walking, saw a person walking alone across the street. The bright blonde was an impressive beauty.

She was so pretty, even though he saw her from afar. Being here meant that she would also be Esper or a guide. So-Won stared at her blankly. He doesn’t know which way she is going. When So-Won awoke as an A-Class guide, he looked forward to matching with such an Esper. This was even more so because they often became suspicious lovers once they were matched. Moreover, unlike So-Won, he was tall and had a good body. Tae-Woo would have been as popular with women as Si-Hyuk if only the veins and scary expressions were gone.
