Episode 07: A Mob Character Who Has Intervened in the Story

The next day.

I was studying alone in the library.

Someone sat down on the empty chair next to me.

That divine being with the sweet scent wafting around the air… is Dorothy.

“Are you studying alone today?”

She spoke to me very naturally, but to those around me, it was a very uncomfortable combination taking place.

The students studying around her had a question mark in their heads as they watched the beautiful girl sit next to the seemingly nameless character.

“I have a classroom exam coming up…”

I replied bluntly, but she didn’t care, she kept coming even closer to me.

“Guwa!?”

“Don’t panic. I’m just checking to see if there’s anything wrong… see, you’ve misinterpreted this.”

I was stunned.

I had no choice but to give myself up to Dorothy, who came so close that our shoulders were almost touching.

“Fufu~ I’ll take the time to teach you what you don’t understand, so don’t hesitate to ask me anything.”

How could I concentrate like this?

I should close the book and get out of the library, I can’t stand it if I have to deal with this any longer.

Just as I was about to get up———

Dorothy was the first one to take action.

She must have sensed something, because she stared blankly at the doorway of the library, with a blatantly unhappy expression on her face.

“… I wanted to talk to you more, Helios.”

She left and ran off to the staff entrance on the other side.

That was a terribly fast exit, she must have missed it because it was me.

No, this is not the time to say it.

She left the place without making a single sound, whilst using magic to accelerate her movement speed.

Normally, when you run with increased acceleration magic, the magic power spreads around you like a shock, but thanks to her ‘too high of a skill level’, there was not a single sound produced.

I turned my gaze toward the direction Dorothy was staring at and saw a man entering the library.

He had a troubled look on his face and he was looking around the library for something.

It was Lute.

“Areh, was it my imagination? I felt like she was here just now…”

I’m not sure if Dorothy was… escaping from him?

I’ve never read a story where the main heroine talks to another man while avoiding the hero.

No, wait, then I don’t understand why she ran away in a hurry just now.

If she ran away from Lute, it means that she went to a lot of trouble to see me while trying to not let him sense her presence.

No way, that’s too funny.

There’s no way such a fantasy is actually possible, haha…

“……”

I feel like I can’t affirm my own words anymore.

This is a situation that should NOT happen.

I’m not a hundred percent sure, but if Dorothy cares about me as a person of the opposite s*x, it means that she’s intervening in the main story that’s supposed to occur.

And if a mob character intervenes in the love story of the hero and heroine, she will not be safe.

After all, that’s the most important position in the story.

An unwinnable one-on-one battle with Lute for Dorothy (the main heroine) will take place.

The backstory, which could have been something else, was steadily progressing due to the presence of a supporting character———
