Bella was mad at me. I had done as instructed and threw a fireball at a slime. It did almost start a fire along the river and we got soaked trying to put it out, but can you blame me? I was new to magic!

It started this morning when we met up at the guild. I had a nice, relaxing morning topped off with a nice breakfast dish they called Desilbread, which tasted just like French toast. Apparently it's a dish this town is famous for in the Velcaidian Empire. This was the first time I'd heard the name of the country I was in.

I got to the guild after the morning rush as we had planned, and found Bella waiting at one of the tables by the bar. Waving to get her attention, I walked over to the quest boards and grabbed the slime hunting quest from the F rank listings. At the Quest Counter, we set our Status Cards to show us as a party, and once the quest was set and we got gloves from Phoebe, we left for the river outside the west gate.

On the way to the river, Bella started talking about how magic appears on the Status Card. "Once you know which attributes you can use, they will appear under the magic section in a similar fashion to skills. If you want to see, you should check yours."

Naturally, I wanted to see it with my own eyes, so I took out my Status Card and opened the overlay.

"Umm... Bella?" I stopped walking, forcing her to turn around and look at me. "It says I have all nine attributes at one out if ten, but it's also says I have void magic at the same level."

"Seriously?!?!??!?" She basically yelled loud enough for the guards back at the gate to hear her. "Y- You-... You're telling me you have all ten attributes?! That's impossible! I've never heard of such a thing happening before!"

"Well I can show you if you want. Though you have to keep everything you see secret. I need you to promise me that." I had decided to show her my Status, since I wanted to make an official party with her. It just seemed like a good way for me to show that I trust her.

That got her attention very quickly. "Are you sure? Most people don't ever show others their Status." She asked because she was shocked I would offer such a thing.

I nodded and held out my Status Card for her to touch. She touched the card and said "Status open."

Since it was open for me, I could now see in the top right corner a new section. It was labeled as "Now Viewing" and her name was under it. She started from the top, working her way down. When she got to my skills, her eyes swivelled to focus on me.

In a barely audible whisper she asked, "You have a True Unique?" Clearly not believing what her eyes were seeing.

"Yes, I do. That's why I wanted you to promise me you wouldn't tell anyone else. I trust you, so I hope you have the same amount of trust in me." I responded to her. "On that note, I was hoping to form an official party with you. Though for now it would just be us."

"You... You trust me that much? We've only known each other for a bit more than a week." She mumbled in shock as she continued staring at my skills. After a moment she shook her head heavily and returned to her normal self. "If you want to party with me, I'd be happy to do so!"

Wow. That was a fast turnaround. At least I got that out of the way. We were now an official party! I smiled as we continued our walk to the river where the slimes were waiting to be turned into money.

Once we got there, Bella started enthusiastically explaining how to use magic. In summary, magic requires you to send Mana to the location you want the magic to take effect. The outcome really all depends on imagination and how much you know about the thing you are trying to create. For instance, if you want to freeze an item, you need to make the temperature go below zero Celsius. However if you don't know that, you would just think of being very cold and depending on the strength of that cold, it would take more or less time and mana to freeze the item.

Bella showed me how she imagines creating a blade of wind, and sent it at a slime. It cleanly cut the slime in two, but since it missed the core, the slime started regenerating slowly. "Now, I want you to do the same with a fireball."

I got the general idea, so I started sending Mana to my palm as I imagined the air heating up to fire level heat above my palm. In the middle of doing so, I started wondering what would happen if I just burnt the methane gas in the air. Suddenly, the fire in my palm burst into heavy blue flames. Panicking, I quickly threw it at a slime, and i basically vaporized the slime, along with lighting the grass around it on fire.

Bella freaked out and ran forward to try stomping on the fire to put it out. Since I had all attributes, I started watching mana in the air and sent an image of a rain cloud into it. The air condensed and became a miniature rainstorm directly above us. Once the fire was out, I dispersed the mana I had used to make it and the cloud and rain disappeared.

Now Bella was mad at me. Not only did I almost start a fire in the plains, I got us soaked. Though she was more angry because she was soaked. It took a whole two hours of slime hunting and the walk back to Desil to get her to forgive me. It would cost me a meal at her favorite restaurant, but that was fine with me as long as she was no longer angry with me.

We made a total of twenty eight silvers and fourty coppers for the slimes we hunted. While it was less than when I went alone, it was good money for taking it easy most of the hunt. We split the money between us and I promised to buy her a meal tomorrow and again apologized.

As I reached the inn, it occured to me that it was almost time to pay for another week of rooming. I'd do that tomorrow morning.

I entered the inn and immediately went to the cafe. It was lunch time and I was hungry. I think using magic made me hungrier than usual. I'd have to check if that was true tomorrow.
