The Monkey King

Chapter 583: Farmer and Snake

Mentioning her father, Miao Jie's heart suddenly skipped a beat. She forced a smile and said, "You don't have to scare me. What can happen to my father? The underworld is safe. As long as I obey orders, Ksitigarbha will definitely not What about my father?"

Xuanzang said softly: "Even if you disobey the order, Ksitigarbha will not do anything to your father."

Hearing this, Shan Jie was slightly startled, and turned around to look at Xuanzang with difficulty.

"What do you mean?"

"Isn't it?" Xuanzang spread his hands and said, "Ksitigarbha has never even said that he would stop a poor monk from obtaining scriptures, so what reason would he have to take action against the benefactor's father? From the beginning to the end, what the benefactor knows is probably not the earth. The King of Zabet said it himself. Even if the benefactor is really asked to avenge his father, at most he will not stop him beforehand and not investigate afterward. He will never really help the benefactor. On the contrary, if the benefactor really succeeds in this trip Well, the life of this poor monk is not worth mentioning, but the Great Sage may not give up so easily."

Shan Jie stared at Xuanzang with half-squinted eyes for a while, then closed his eyes and said, "You don't have to scare me. Besides, it's useless to scare me. My father's soul is in his hands, and I will never do it." I bet on my father."

Xuanzang didn't answer either, and the two of them just stayed in silence.

After about an hour, it was completely dark.

The waves on the river beat against the dam built by the monkeys, making bursts of sound.

In the dark night, the figures of the monkeys on the river beach could not even be seen clearly.

During this period, several people came here several times. Xiao Bailong came to see Mao Jie's injury. He left without saying a few words. The black bear spirit came to remind Xuanzang that in six hours at most, the place would be completely submerged.

Time passed bit by bit, some were accumulating strength, and some were polishing their weapons. Several other people had begun to prepare nervously for the battle, but Xuanzang still looked calm and composed. Najie became uneasy instead.

Indeed, as Xuanzang said, it was not just the westbound team that was now in trouble, but also Jie Jie himself.

The westbound team's predicament was difficult to overcome, so would his be easy to overcome?

The soul of the Jinghe Dragon King is in the underworld. The underworld is under the jurisdiction of Ksitigarbha. Even if Ksitigarbha really won’t take action against the Dragon King of Jinghe, what about the others?

As the saying goes: "The king of hell is easy to meet, but the devil is difficult to deal with."

Although it is impossible for Ksitigarbha to say such things as to make the Dragon King of Jinghe go to pieces to take revenge on Miao Jie, but as long as there is someone around Ksitigarbha who sees through this layer of thoughts and wants to take this credit and seek favors, how can he still do it? Is anyone going to stop it?

Just any ghost. If a Yama, or a Demon King, obtains Ksitigarbha's permission to enter and leave the underworld freely, isn't it easy to capture a soul if he wants to extinguish it?

Once Jie Jie really helps the westbound team to remove the spell, even if Ksitigarbha does not take action, it can be basically concluded that the Dragon King of Jinghe is in danger.

It is precisely because of this that no matter how severe the punishment was, Miao Jie would never let go. Because once he lets go, the Dragon King of Jinghe will be in a state of disarray.

But. Even if things are done, will everything be fine?

The Great Sage's temper was well known to everyone in the three realms. The reason why he dared to come was partly because of his relationship with the Dragon Palace of the West Sea. Even if he wanted to take revenge, his life would not be in danger. On the other hand, it was because his father's soul was in the other party's hands. Mao Jie had to come.

However, once he succeeded, avenged his father and ruined the great mission of traveling to the west, how would the great sage take revenge?

After a night of torture, Mao Jie didn't dare to think about it.

Before, I was so excited that I didn't think too much about it, but now I'm lying here quietly, but I don't dare to think about it.

Because this great sage is not the kind of person he imagined at the beginning.

Not only does this demon king, who has achieved the way of heaven, not have the grace of a great immortal, but he has a face like a street gangster, and is more like a villain than other monsters. He was actually able to torture himself, and never tired of it. For six or seven hours, he worked tirelessly to save himself over and over again, and repeatedly came up with all kinds of weird tricks to torture himself...

There may be only one such person in the world.

After being tortured all night long, Miao Jie now fully believed that even if he was not killed, once he was retaliated against, this peerless demon king would definitely make his family's life worse than death.

Because that's what he is.

Regarding this, Mao Jie is now convinced.

However, after reaching this point, is there still a way for him to retreat?

Thinking of this, Miao Jie couldn't help but smile.

The way back probably never existed from the beginning. He simply had no choice. From beginning to end, he was just a puppet with strings.

For me, the best result now may be that things can be completed smoothly, and the Monkey King has not angered his father's soul.

But are there really such good things in this world?

Somehow, Miao Jie suddenly said to Xuanzang: "Master Xuanzang, um... if possible, can you intercede for my father so that the great sage will not vent his anger on him?"

"how do I say this?"

"That's it, help me persuade the Great Sage not to anger my father. Come at me if you want to kill or behead me. Even if my soul is gone, I, Miao Jie, will not complain." After saying this, Miao Jie suddenly smiled awkwardly and whispered. He said: "Sorry, I just asked casually. If you don't agree, forget it."

After that, slowly close your eyes.

After a brief silence, Xuanzang smiled lightly and said: "After this incident, if nothing happens, the Great Sage will not be angry. If something happens, the poor monk may be dead. How can he advise the Great Sage?"

Mao Jie quickly opened his eyes and asked, "If you don't die, will you agree?"

Xuanzang slowly turned his face and looked at Miao Jie.

The two looked at each other silently.

Miao Jie opened her eyes slightly, full of expectation.

Xuanzang looked calm and thoughtful.

After a long time, Xuanzang said softly: "It is better to save one life than to build a seven-level pagoda. If the poor monk is still alive, he will definitely advise the great sage."

"Really? You...you want me to unlock the spell as a condition?"

"Donor willing?"

Miao Jie didn't answer.

They looked at each other silently for a long time. Xuanzang clasped his hands together and said calmly: "The benefactor, thinking of the safety of your father's soul, will definitely not be willing to undo the technique. This poor monk understands this. Even so, if the poor monk has the opportunity, he will still advise the great sage. But please benefactor. rest assured."

As soon as this was said, a surprised smile suddenly appeared on Miao Jie's face.

When he made this request, he just said it casually, but he never expected that Xuanzang actually agreed.

what is this?

He was here to ask for this monk's life, but he actually agreed to his request so easily without any conditions attached, not even the intention of bargaining.

How did this bald donkey grow his brain?

Or. His sanctimony is just an act. What if he doesn't actually do that?

Mao Jie really couldn't figure it out.

The two of them were silent again.

After a long while, seeing the confusion on Mao Jie's face, Xuanzang said softly: "Almsgiver, I want to tell you a story, okay?"

"Master, please speak."

Xuanzang shook his sleeves and said slowly: "One cold winter, a farmer picked up a frozen snake on the road. In order to save the snake, he put the snake in his arms and warmed it. But. When the snake regained consciousness, it bit the farmer."

"The story of the farmer and the snake?"

Xuanzang nodded slightly: "Donor, have you heard of it?"

Mao Jie said slowly: "When I was a child, my father once told me that I must distinguish between right and wrong, be loyal and upright, and never be merciful to evil people. Otherwise, you will only suffer the consequences."

Speaking of this, Miao Jie suddenly smiled: "My father must have never thought that his son would not become a farmer in the end, but would become that snake..."

Pause slightly. He stared at Xuanzang and said solemnly: "Master, what you want to say, Mao Jie understands. But the soul of my father is in the underworld. As a son, he must fulfill his filial piety and whether he should be a snake or not. Mao Jie has long been unable to control it."

"No. The donor didn't understand."

"kindness?"

"The poor monk was thinking, if he knew it was a snake, would he not hold it in his arms?"

"ah?"

Miao Jie was stunned and looked at Xuanzang in surprise. For a moment, I was confused.

Seeing that Shao Jie was puzzled, Xuanzang continued: "What qualifications and ability does a poor monk have to predict whether the other person is a snake? Besides, snakes also have their own reasons. If snakes bite more people, don't people eat snakes less? It seems right to fight back for your own safety."

"Any person, any living being in the Three Realms, must have his own reasons for doing anything. If he thinks it is wrong, he will definitely not do it." After a slight pause, Xuanzang continued: "If Everyone is worried that the other person is a snake, who would be willing to consider others? Over time, all living beings in the three realms will turn into snakes. If a poor monk wants to achieve enlightenment, if even a poor monk does not have the courage to hold a snake in his arms What qualifications does that poor monk have, and what possibility is there for him to attain the Great Dao?"

Miao Jie blinked her eyes and felt a little confused. It took her a while to understand Xuanzang's logic, and she said with a hint of ridicule: "How many lives do you have to be bitten by a snake?"

Shaking his head, Xuanzang sighed softly: "The poor monk went west to obtain scriptures, to argue the Dharma, and to further prove the Tao. But how to prove this Tao? To prove the Tao, could it be that he went to the West to argue with the Buddha and won the debate? Is this the Enlightenment? If that were the case, the poor monk should have attained the Enlightenment long before he was reincarnated, and there would be no need for these ten reincarnations."

Miao Jie's brows frowned slightly.

"How do you think the donor can prove this path to universal salvation?"

"How to achieve enlightenment? It should be...enlightenment?"

Xuanzang shook his head and said: "If you realize your own way, understand the principles, understand the destiny, and have sudden enlightenment, it is enough. If you want to realize the way of universal salvation, it is not the case. Bright principles are not enough to universalize all sentient beings."

"What about that?"

Taking a deep breath, Xuanzang said: "To prove this way, all sentient beings must be enlightened. This way can be proved when the farmer does not doubt the snake, and the snake does not doubt the farmer."

"Then how can we ensure that the farmer does not doubt the snake and the snake does not doubt the farmer?"

"There must be a farmer who takes the snake into his arms."

"What should I do if I'm bitten to death?"

"I'll take it to you in the next life."

"Be bitten to death again."

"Take it again."

"Are there such stupid farmers in this world?"

Hearing this, Xuanzang smiled. She laughed so much that she even panicked.

Raising his head, Xuanzang said slowly: "Actually, the poor monk should be grateful to the benefactor. Along the way, the poor monk has done many things. The original intention is to realize the way of universal salvation. But how should this way be realized? The poor monk But he was confused in his heart. Until he met the donor yesterday, the poor monk suddenly woke up."

After a slight pause, Xuanzang continued: "If the farmer doesn't save the snake, there is a reason for the farmer. There is also a reason for the snake to bite the farmer. The poor monk could have opened his mouth to admonish the great sage last night, but he didn't, because the poor monk has a poor reason. The reason of the monk. But in this way, the poor monk is already the farmer who refuses to save him, or the poisonous snake that bites the farmer to death. Don't do to others what you don't want to do to yourself, and don't teach to others what you don't want to do to yourself. If you They are all venomous snakes, so how can we talk about universal salvation? If we cannot achieve universal salvation, what's the use of traveling west? What's the use of leaving this broken body? It's better to do good deeds and exchange for your father's good health."

Tao Jie opened her mouth slightly.

"Just now, the benefactor asked Xuanzang, 'Are there such stupid farmers in the world?', and the poor monk's answer was, yes." Xuanzang looked at Miao Jie with a smile, clasped his hands and said, "If not, let the poor monk do it." Be the first farmer to convert poisonous snakes."

Hearing this, Miao Jie suddenly became speechless, and her face was full of astonishment.

He wanted to laugh at the seriously ill monk, but he couldn't say anything. Because at this moment, he was the poisonous snake that the farmer was about to embrace. (To be continued ~^~)

PS: How should Xuanzang attain enlightenment and attain enlightenment? Have you, Omnipotent readers, ever thought about this question?
