Dalia left the lounge and returned to the ballroom where Meldon was waiting.

There was an unexpected person beside Meldon. As soon as she saw that face, Dalia flushed red again. Yesterday’s events replayed in her mind.

“Sir, Sir Cedric?”

“Hi, Dalia. I’ve been busy, but I came for a bit. I’m not interrupting, am I?”

Cedric smiled.

He returned to the Imperial Palace only at dawn yesterday, so he must have barely slept like Dalia, but far from being tired, he looked much more beautiful than usual.

Every time he smiled, it felt like flowers were blooming around him. As he approached, the scent of the perfume Dalia gave him spread softly.

The person Dalia must protect. It’s hard for Dalia to look at his face because of what happened yesterday, but he was as calm as ever.

Dalia was even more embarrassed for no reason.

“Is everything all right? Did you return safely yesterday?”

“Yes, what about Sir Cedric?”

“Me too.”

Cedric came one step closer to Dalia with a smile and tilted his head. She lowered her head slightly, avoiding his eyes for no reason.

“Ah, I suddenly remembered something that I had to do.”

Meldon couldn’t look at this scene any more, so he suddenly took out his pocket watch and looked at it.

Cedric caught him trying to leave.

“Of course I’d be glad if you just get lost, but you still have something to do.”

“Ah, that.”

Meldon paused and held out his arm insincerely.

Cedric held Meldon’s arm and closed his eyes and chanted an incantation.

After a while, he let go.

“It’s done.”

“Wow, it feels like someone else’s mana is spinning around my body. I feel like throwing up.”

“I’m glad that’s the case.”

Cedric smiled.

Meldon swung his arm around and tried to leave his seat for real, but then saw Dalia, who was bewildered, and said lightly.

“Come to think of it, Miss doesn’t know it yet. The cool Sir Cedric has developed a new skill again. Now, not only poison but also swords and bullets coated with holy power can be defended to a certain extent.”

As Lewayne said before, the Holy Empire’s next move was to develop a skill that melts holy power into weapons or bayonets, following the potions.

After the Imperial Magic Tower racking their heads around, they came up with a countermeasure within a few days.

It would not have been possible without Lewayne.

Having studied even the magic for soul transfer, he knew everything theoretically. However, what was born was a high-level skill that even Lewayne could not implement.

Cedric criticized him with all sorts of words, but eventually succeeded in implementing it. The result was the skill he had just used on Meldon.

“But it can’t protect the whole body. There are many gaps, so if you get stabbed in that part, you have no choice but to pray.”

Cedric added a brief explanation.

“Ahh……”

Dalia said blankly.

It was good news that there was another weapon against the Holy Empire. However, it was uncomfortable to think of Cedric, who would have used a lot of mana because of this.

Cedric indifferently told Meldon.

“Congratulations. You’re the last one.”

“Wow, I’m so grateful. Then I’ll come back later. Otherwise, the wicked Sir Cedric will kill me.”

Meldon deliberately looked at Cedric and kissed Dalia’s hand visibly and frankly, then disappeared with a smile.

Cedric coldly glared at Meldon, but when he left and saw Dalia in front of him, he seemed to be happy again in no time.

He smiled and grabbed Dalia’s hands and clasped her fingers.

She slightly lifted her gaze and looked at Cedric’s face.

He was looking at Dalia with a smile on his face as he couldn’t help but love the presence in front of him.

Feeling her heart sink again, Dalia hurriedly lowered her gaze.

Cedric asked softly, putting his fingers back in Dalia’s hand.

“Why aren’t you looking at me?”

Dalia replied in an almost inaudible voice.

“I can’t look at you…….”

“Why?”

“My heart is beating so fast…….”

Cedric smiled with a sigh.

He didn’t say a word for a while before finally opening his mouth.

“Don’t say that. I don’t know what I’ll do if you do that.”

“Th, then what should I say?”

“Just say that you like it.”

Cedric said in a playful light tone, but Dalia’s heart beat faster.

She tried hard to calm herself down and tried to keep her mouth shut, but she couldn’t. She lowered her head and shook her head.

“I, I can’t.”

“Why……? Why can’t you?”

As Cedric trails off, he affectionately loosened his grip and rubbed the inside of Dalia’s wrist, pulling her a little further.

Dalia, as always, became frozen.

She couldn’t think of anything, it just felt like she was going to die from the blood rushing to her head.

At times like these, she would always do something unexpected that even she couldn’t understand.

She couldn’t even say she liked it, but somehow she closed her eyes tightly, lifted her head, and lightly kissed the side of his lips.

Cedric froze as he held her hand.

Dalia looked at him with one of her tightly closed eyes open.

Cedric had a bewildered look on his face, biting his lips and his ears blushing. At times like this, he was no different from when he was young, when he still blushed when his hand was held.

Only then did Dalia feel relieved when she saw that. Maybe Dalia just wants to tease Cedric as much as he does.

She smiled bashfully.

Cedric smiled and loosened his hands.

“You really…….”

“You worked hard. I will purify you now.”

Dalia grabbed him and tapped the ring.

It has been bothering him since his mana has dropped as he has been continuously using it. He flinched for a moment, then pushed Dalia into any rest room around him and locked the door.

Dalia took off the ring and put it on the table.

She tried to hold Cedric’s hand, but it was him who pulled Dalia first and held her in his arms.

He quietly held Dalia in his arms for a while, and let her go with a long breath. And smiled.

“Thank you.”

“…….”

Why did she get embarrassed every time he did this? Dalia smiled awkwardly.

Cedric kissed her forehead briefly.

“I heard from Lewayne. He even told you all the useless things.”

“Ah…….”

Dalia stared blankly at him. He had only a slightly troubled smile.

Then she belatedly realized.

‘As expected, he knew everything.’

She was curious deep inside.

How much did Lewayne tell Cedric?

Even the fact that he’s going to die? Or that if everything fails, the only way is to sacrifice himself?

But looking at his reaction now, maybe…….

“You must be upset, but I already promised him before I met you yesterday. If things get worse……I’ll do what he sees in the future.”

Cedric smiled, buried his head on Dalia’s shoulder, and hugged her waist.

“So at that time, I just wanted to complain to you.”

As he said, on the day Dalia accepted Cedric’s confession, he had already heard everything from Lewayne.

“If Miss Dalia Pesteros cannot save Aceras, his end will always be a mana explosion.”

“…….”

“If we don’t put him to sleep, he’ll run wild and turn Frederic’s capital into a cursed, immortal city.”

“I was always the only one who could stop it?”

“……That’s right.”

“I understand what you mean. My memory is coming back too.”

He didn’t remember everything. It was a world not worth remembering.

It was a world without Dalia.

Anyway, it was a vague memory, but it seemed like he made the same choice every time at this point.

“If Dalia fails to purify him, and you fail, the only way I have left is death.”

After he said that, the weight of reality hit him again. He swept his face.

Would he have been less afraid if he loved a little less?

He felt awkward with himself for fearing death.

“……Although it won’t necessarily happen. Miss Dalia is still working hard to protect Your Highness.”

“…….Really?”

A smile formed on Cedric’s lips. Because if it was her, he really thought she would do it.

He replied lightly.

“……Well, that won’t happen, but I’ll do as you say when that moment comes. If an irreversible time comes, I’ll stop it.”

Lewayne raised his head. His emotionless eyes looked at Cedric.

“I apologize.”

“Don’t lie. I don’t believe you have any sensibility left to feel that way.”

Lewayne did not deny what Cedric said with a smirk.

Cedric woke up from the flashback and looked at Dalia, who looked like she was going to cry again.

Looking at this face makes him want to live.

He wanted to turn away from everything no matter what happened and just take Dalia’s hand and go to another continent or wherever.

But he couldn’t.

Because he loves Dalia, he wanted to love the world that she loves as well.

He laughed at himself for wishing that Dalia would hate Aceras enough to not be able to purify him even in this situation.

Because if he didn’t, he’d be jealous.

“I have to go now. Because Aceras will come soon.”

He glanced at his watch.

One hour until the meeting.

It was time for Aceras to come to the ball.

He took Dalia to the ballroom while on his way.

Soon, the ballroom was crowded with people. Everyone was busy moving around.

The Emperor was seen ascending the throne, giving another order to his aide. The Empress, who was with him, also looked worried as she had also anticipated the thorny road ahead.

“Sir Cedric.”

Then, Dalia grabbed Cedric’s hand as he was about to turn around. And she said with a very serious and determined expression.

“I will definitely save Sir Cedric.”

“Huh?”

Cedric asked blankly.

After saying it, Dalia’s cheeks turned a little red, perhaps because she thought that it was too sudden.

She began to talk gibberish as she was at a loss.

“Th, that’s…….It’s so sudden right? I mean, so…….”

“……Yeah.”

“So never! I means don’t think bad things. It will be different this time.”

Cedric stared blankly at her for a moment, then smiled and pulled her into a hug, stroked her head and kissed her on the forehead.

“Thank you.”

Somehow he felt really happy.

He stood away and stared at Dalia’s face, then smiled again, cupped her cheeks, and kissed her on the forehead again.

All of Dalia’s actions poke his heart and he can’t stand it.

“Bye.”

And with that being said, he really left.
