The Princess And The Demon

Chapter 68 - Back in a rainy day 2

The lady in white was dumbfounded for few seconds, she expected the human to be long gone once the wolfs were distracted but here he was digging his sword deep in the wolf's heart, humans usually feared the demons, even the harmless once, for a mere human to face and kill one of the most bloodthirsty demons, it was not something to witness casually ..

Henry drew his sword out of the demon and walked quickly toward the girl on the ground, misreading her surprised expressions as fear he took off his cloak and put it around her shoulders, the cloack was already soaking wet from the rain but he couldn't think of anything else to do, looking at her deep red eyes with a reassuring smile..

"It is alright now my lady, don't be afraid" Henry wondered why is he saying these words to the demon girl since it was her who saved his life in the first place, the girl kept on starring at him as if she never saw a human before...

"My lady i.. "

"Are you dumb? " Rima finally blurted, not able to understand this weird human in front of her

"I beg your pardon? "

"Deaf as well? " Henry was taken aback by her words, here he was trying to act like a gentleman but this demon girl was in no word gentle

"My lady, I... "

"You are what? out of your own mind? coming to the borders of the dark forest at night and alone? do you have a death wish? " Rima scolded the man in front of her, she had an inner eye to judge people around her and the human had no ill will, he was a man with a purpose, something about him gave an air of royalty if not mistaken, he was not an ordinary man...

"What the...?"

"And instead of running you are sitting here talking to another demon, don't you know that you are our food? " she questioned him

"So is that why you helped me? because you want to feast on me? and pardon me for worrying about you, i wasn't brought to leave someone in need behind me, not to mention someone i owe my life to" Henry said, slightly irritated by the demon who kept on scolding him like a child

"You are dumb" Rima said after staring at him for few seconds, than gave him a sweet smile that made the man in front of her dumbfounded, how can a demon smile so sweetly? so delicately..

"Let us get you out of here now" the demon girl than said...

Rima woke up in a late our at night, she wasn't much of a sleeper anyway, only enough to remain sane and alive, but what woke her up wasn't that, she again had another sweet dream about the man whom this bad belonged to, after all, everything in the room smelled just like him, delicious and inviting...

She stared at the dark room, it was much different from hers, not as spacious and not as empty, there was so much things and details, where ever she looked there was something eye catching, just like the man, she thought to herself...

The way she grew up, taught her not to trust anyone, not even her own blood, the frozen edge was a place for frozen hearts, the ice demons lived longer compared to others but they were not as strong, compared to the fire demons or the shadow demons they were considered the weekest, thus, her people needed better ways to survive, isolation and secrecy was one, and with the low population of humans they could feed on, they turned against each other, it was one of the dark magic curses, they needed to feed on lives to live, and from where she came from, it was the weakest who was devoured, she still remembers the day when her grandfather, the lord, devoured his own wife, and a while after her own mother, all in front of her, a sight no child should witness but there was no such a thing as childhood there, her father and brothers just stood there and watched, and even made her watch, the lord scolded her father for taking a weak wife who would only give him weak children, he looked at her eyes that were bubbling with fury and told her she would be next...

But what the old man didn't realise is, her mother was never weak as he thought, her magic was raw and pure, if forged properly it could even surpass his own, but she willingly gave it to her daughter, secretly, in a helpless try to protect her and make her stronger, Rima wondered for a while why her mother chose her and not her older siblings, but in that time while she was witnessing her mother's death she understood, her mother saw something in her, an ability to change, not just herself but things around her, with her magic she gave her a responsibility, to change things...

From that day Rima worked hard, when everyone else was asleep she would practice, the magic she had was stronger than her weak body, too raw and untamed, she needed to work her body and mind to control it without it destroying her, with slow steps she advanced forward, and when the time came for her grandfather to feed on her, she overpowered him, but instead of devouring him she took his magic, leaving behind an old helpless man who was forced not to just acknowledge her, but also pass the lordship to her...

Rima knew though, that was barely the first step for her, in order to fulfill the responsibility given to her by her mother, she needed to break the black magic curse, the one that forced her kind to feed on others to survive, the only thing strong enough to break it was the creation energy itself...

At first she had no idea how to do that, but than she met with the shadows lord who planned a revolution against the gods, even though she didn't agree on his notorious actions nor she shared the same motifs to revolt against the gods with him, but his plan was the best if not the only way to free herself and her people from the curse...

Their plan was given a golden chance when the shadows lord captured the rumored hybrid, the Gods had used the creation energy to shield themselves against the demons, her kind was not able to get closer to the center of the world without losing their powers, not just their demonic strength but even their life strength, yet with a half god's blood ritual, it was possible to break through it with their full strength...

The only obstacle they had left was the humans, she never hated mankind yet she wasn't fond of them either, nonetheless, she didn't consider them as enemies, and when she met one particular man in a rainy night, that consideration became a solid truth...
