TTPC Ch. 21: Strange Phenomenon

Whoosh!

The wide mouth full of fangs swiftly and violently pounced toward Lin Yi, and in a panic, he flung off Pei Xuanqing’s hand. He subconsciously moved to dodge, but in doing so, he lost his footing and fell backward.

“Careful!” Pei Xuanqing reached out a hand to pull him but could not hold him back. Instead, he was pulled forward and started to fall alongside him. Seeing that the back of Lin Yi’s head was about to make intimate contact with the floor, he quickly extended his hand to cushion the back of his head.

The two fell into a pile with a thud.

The back of Lin Yi’s head knocked against Pei Xuanqing’s hand, not hitting the hard floor, but Pei Xuanqing’s weight was hefty in itself, forcing a gasp from him.

Hearing the gasp, Pei Xuanqing hurriedly propped his body up with his other hand and looked at Lin Yi, pressed beneath him, “Were you hit somewhere else?”

Lin Yi shook his head, his voice trembling with panic, “There was something in your body. It wanted to bite me.”

Pei Xuanqing paused as he was about to get up, “What was it?”

“I don’t know. I didn’t see it clearly, but it was something white, and it pounced at me with its mouth wide open,” Lin Yi said fearfully. The scene just now had too much impact on him, and at that moment, he was unable to regain his composure. His scalp still felt numb, and his limbs felt a bit cold.

Pei Xuanqing frowned. What could be in his body?

But the frightened expression on Lin Yi’s face was not faked, and neither was his reaction. Propping up his body, he sat on the ground beside Lin Yi before pulling him up as well.

Pei Xuanqing looked at his still empty and spiritless eyes, and pondering, he asked, “You could see?”

Lin Yi paused for a second when he heard the words, but after thinking about it, he decided to tell Pei Xuanqing, “I can see the silhouettes of people, but I can’t see their appearance or anything else around.”

“I see. If you don’t mind, the situation just now, could you please explain it to me in more detail?” Pei Xuanqing asked solemnly.

Lin Yi nodded, swallowed, and took a deep breath. He was more or less calm now and explained the strange scene he’d just seen from Pei Xuanqing’s body——

“I could see that you have two types of auras on your body, one ashy black and the other white. The ashy black aura covers almost your entire body, giving me an ominous feeling. However, there is a faint white light that is circulating in your dantian that mostly flows through your heart meridians, while the other part flows up through your main meridians. It should be protecting you. I originally wanted to explore the source of that white light, but who knew the moment I thought about it, a massive white phantom suddenly emerged from your body and coiled around you, then rushed toward me with wide open fangs……The phantom appeared so suddenly that I didn’t have time to see what it looked like clearly.

“Also, it seemed as if it were alive. I heard a strange ‘duum’ sound, like a heartbeat.”

After Lin Yi finished speaking, Pei Xuanqing fell into a long silence, and the way he looked at Lin Yi became different from before. His eyes, which had always been deep and undisturbed like an ancient well, now stirred with great waves.

Outsiders only knew that he was seriously injured in the Demon Beast Forest, but they weren’t aware of why he was injured. They even speculated that he was attacked after overestimating his abilities and trying vainly to subdue a Spirit Beast he couldn’t conquer.

In fact, he actually ran into the spectacle of two giant monsters fighting, falling unconscious after being seriously injured in the crossfire. After he was rescued and returned to the Pei Residence, his dantian was practically crippled, his Primordial Soul suffered heavy damage, and his entire body’s meridians were on the brink of being severed. It was his grandfather, and the people from the Pharmacists Hall joined hands to try and recover his meridians. Still, although his meridians were barely reconnected, they couldn’t circulate smoothly, and the meridians in both of his legs were almost completely blocked. If it weren’t for his grandfather, who later used his cultivation to flush his meridians day and night, he wouldn’t even be able to sit in a wheelchair, unable to live to today.

The pharmacists of Woyun City tried many methods but could not get him back on his feet, so his grandfather took him all across the Southern Continent before finally meeting a high-level pharmacist. The pharmacist carefully examined him and said he had two auras in his body: one of life and the other of death. The fusion of the two auras was harmonious but fragile, and he had never seen or treated it before. There was no way to cure him. He also told him that if the balance between the two auras were broken, he would die.

His grandfather had no choice but to bring him back to Woyun City, using the prescription the pharmacist had prescribed to recuperate his body all these years. Even so, there was no progress in any other aspect.

Over the years, there had been many pharmacists who had voluntarily approached him, saying that they could treat him, but they weren’t even able to see the two auras of life and death in his body, so how could they speak of treating him?

But now there was finally someone who could see it, and not only could he see the strange, violent auras on his body, but he also saw it more clearly than the pharmacist from back then did.
