Two days later.

Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon.

Evelyn and Menedelia arrived at Brasilleel Town, at her parent's house.

Evelyn's folks were overwhelmed with happiness after seeing her.

After settling in her old room, she told them that she can't stay long, only for two days.

"Why do you have to go back quickly to the capital? Why can't you stay here for at least one week?" Evelyn's mother said.

"Yes, stay with us for at least one week, daughter!" the father said.

Evelyn smiled. "Alright, we will stay here for one week," she said and glanced at her companion.

Menedelia knew that Evelyn was conflicted inside, but she can't say no to her parent's request.

"How are the kids? Why you didn't bring the kids with you, especially Nini? We haven't seen that daughter of yours. The last time we saw her is when she's only a few months and after that she went missing and now that she was finally found we still can't see her," the mother complained.

Evelyn sighed. "Mother, the next time that I'll come here, I'll bring the children with me," she told them another lie. She wore a happy face trying to mask the sadness that is trying to suffocate her from the inside. There is a big chance that she will no longer see her parents again after rescuing her daughter.

Menedelia looked at Evelyn. "Can I retire to the room? I feel sleepy..."

Evelyn nods her head. "Okay... just take a rest there, Granny. I'll join you later," she said.

Menedelia stood up and climbed the stairs going to the second floor.

Evelyn's mother looked at the old woman, a frown appeared on her forehead. "Who is she?" she asked.

"She's Granny Menedelia, a dear friend of mine. She's my companion for this trip," Evelyn explained.

"But why she has to stay and sleep in your room as well?" the father asked.

Evelyn grinned. "We're close," she answered and rose to her feet. "Can I see the garden at the backyard? I want to see how beautiful the flowers are..." she said, abruptly ending the discussion about Menedelia.

Evelyn and her parents went to the back of the house. They lowered themselves on the wooden bench and admire the blooming flowers growing abundantly in the garden. They discussed the happenings in recent years and reminisce. Her younger brother and sister were both married and living in other places.

Evelyn longed to have a family reunion with her family, unfortunately, that might never happen again in this lifetime. Once Rigor got hold of her, she can never return home alive. Fresh tears appeared in her eyes, she quickly blinked her eyes. It's not a good time to feel emotional, she might feel weak and cowardly, she can't afford to disappoint her daughter, as her mother, she must save Angela no matter what the costs!

Evelyn concealed the sadness and worry in her eyes and laughed along with her parent's jokes just like old times.

Her parents were so happy to see her again that they failed to see the sorrow that she was trying to hide from her eyes.

One hour later.

They returned to the house, to eat afternoon snacks in the living room and resuming their chatting.

"I'll go to my room and bring Granny here," Evelyn spoke.

"Okay," her father said.

Evelyn climbed the stairs and went to her old room. When she entered the room, Granny was resting on the bed.

"I plan to go to that old manor in the forest to spy," Menedelia said.

Evelyn's brows furrowed in confusion. "How did you know about that place? I never told you about it," she said.

"Last night at the Travelers Inn, while you were sleeping, I entered your memory and saw the place where you stayed with that mysterious guy before. I can trace that place," Menedelia replied.

"Ah, okay. But not now, my parents prepared a delicious afternoon snack for us. They're waiting in the living room. Let's go down first," Evelyn said.

Menedelia got up from the bed and fixed her shoulder-length gray hair in front of the mirror and tied it with a rubber band. "Let's go!" she said.

The women exited the room and went downstairs. They joined the couple in the living room, eating rice cakes.

After eating their snack, the old couple retired to their rooms to rest.

"Let's go to the garden at the back of the house and discuss our plan there," Evelyn said. They can't talk in her bedroom because her parent's room was next to hers, they might overhear their conversation.

"Okay, lead the way," Menedelia said.

They passed through the kitchen door and arrived at the garden.

They settled on the wooden bench under the shed.

Evelyn released a deep sigh. "I can't spend some time with my parents the whole day tomorrow," she said.

"Why don't you tell your parents the truth?" Menedelia asked.

Evelyn shook her head. "I can't afford to give them something to worry about. They're old already," she said as fresh tears shimmered in her eyes. She doesn't want to bring misery to her parent's home. She's afraid that they won't be able to survive the pain.

"If you can't return here safely and went missing, they would still worry about you," Menedelia said.

"I know, but at least I can bring back my daughter. The moment you found Angela, bring her to the capital right away and inform my husband that the capital is no longer safe for my daughters to stay, they need to be taken to other areas that Rigor can no longer found them because I'm planning to kill Rigor!" Evelyn said, her eyes flashing with murderous intent.

"No!" Menedelia spoke, her eyes widened in alarm. "Don't attempt killing him! You will end up dead! Just humor him for a little bit, try to endure his presence as long as you can. I'll come back one day to save you from his clutches. Our main goal right now is to save Angela first before Rigor will do something bad to her!" she reminded her of their mission.

Evelyn shut her eyes for a moment, calming her racing nerves. "Alright, I almost forgot that I need to save my daughter first!" she said and took a deep breath.

Menedelia clasped her friend's hands. "Good! Now, don't forget our plan, okay? Tomorrow morning, after breakfast we'll go there! We can no longer delay our plan! Rigor might felt restless and kill your daughter!"

"Alright, let's do it tomorrow!" Evelyn said.

The two women stayed in the garden until the evening arrives.

The following day, after breakfast.

The old couple went to the garden for their morning exercise.

Evelyn and Menedelia retired to their room.

Inside the room.

Menedelia looked at the nervous-looking Evelyn. "I'll teleport back to my place first. I will give last minute instruction to my apprentice," she said.

Evelyn nodded her head and sat on the bed. "Go now... I'll wait here," she replied.

Menedelia teleported back to her fortress.

Rebecca was sweeping dry leaves on the front yard of the house when Granny landed in front of her. "Granny..."

"Child, now is the time for the ritual!" Menedelia said.

Rebecca put the broom under the shade of the tree.

The women entered the house.

Menedelia took the knife from her room, picked up the silver basin, and exited the house.

She and Rebecca went to the backyard and removed the roosters from the cage.

Rebecca held the rooster in her hands while Mendelia slashed the neck of the rooster while chanting a spell, the blood trickled into the silver basin. They performed the same process with the rest of the roosters. Afterward, they dug a hole and buried the animal's body.

Done outside, they returned to the house carrying the silver basin containing fresh animal blood and went inside Menedelia's bedroom. They arranged everything on the table.

Menedelia looked at Rebecca in the eyes. "Child, three lives are in your hands now. Just follow what I told you, okay?"

Rebecca nodded her head. "I got it!" she replied.

"When the light of the candle in the center appeared suddenly! Light the three candles at once and chant the spell nonstop. You can only stop chanting after you hear my voice outside," Menedelia repeated her instruction.

"Don't worry, Granny, I promise you that even if I peed on my pants I won't leave this room, I won't stop chanting the spell!" Rebecca made her oath.

"Good! I'll go now!" Menedelia said and vanished from the room in the blink of an eye.

A moment later.

Menedelia appeared in Evelyn's room. "Everything is ready at my fortress," she said. She opened her palm, three vintage-looking silver necklaces with sun pendants appeared in her hands. She put the two necklaces around Evelyn's head and put the other on her neck. "The moment you put the necklace on your daughter's neck, instruct Angela to grasp the pendant with her right hand tightly and never remove it out from her neck!" she reminded her.

"Okay, got it!" Evelyn said and took a deep breath.

The women looked at each other for a few minutes.

Suddenly, Evelyn hugged Menedelia tightly. "Please, save my daughter!" she begged.

"We all can leave that place as long we stick to our plan! No matter what's going to happen - don not remove the necklace from your neck!" Menedelia reminded her.

Evelyn nodded her head and breathed deeply.

Time to go.

"Are you ready, my lady?" Menedelia asked.

Evelyn nodded her head. "Ready!"

"Let's go!" Menedelia said and clasped Evelyn's right hand.

A moment later.

They vanished from the room.
