The Wild Man Of Pokemon

Chapter 16 - Discoveries

Riding home, I noticed that the Munchlax were nervous. Walking beside them I started a conversation.

'How are you holding up?'

Shocked by my use of thought rays, it replied, 'You can talk to us?'

'Yes, it's a long story. What about you? Any tales you wish to share?'

'No.' She sheepishly replied.

'That's alright. I imagine you have been through a lot lately.'

Tears started to well up.

'I miss my Da. I miss him so much.'

'Don't worry, we'll reunite you soon enough.'

'Really?'

'Yes really. Do you happen to know where he was stationed?'

She nodded.

'Can you tell me?'

She shook her head.

'Why not?'

'Because I don't want him to get hurt.'

'Why would he get hurt?'

'Because the bad frog said he would if I ever told anyone?'

'Why would he tell you that?'

Her body paled and her face turned sheepish.

'What happened. I need you to tell me so I can help you.'

She was struggling.

'Look the bad frog is nowhere near here. He will never find out.'

'You promise?'

'I promise. This will stay a secret between us okay?'

'Okay.' She gestured for me to come close.

'Da is where the orange punks are.'

I trip. One for what she called the Scrafty and where her Da was at.

'Are you okay?'

'Yeah, I'm fine. Why did the bad frog threaten you?'

'I was caught. I was listening in on him talking with the bad smelling roses and he caught me.'

'I see. Have you told anyone else?'

'No.'

Interesting I may have a source of new information.

'What were they talking about?' I asked.

'They said something about letting a fog out. It would be everywhere and that the mountain would be his once he did.'

My eyes widened.

'Did he tell you when he was going to release it?'

'No. I was caught before he could.'

'What about this fog? Did he say any details?'

'Only that it came from the Artist.'

'Artist?'

'Yeah that's what he said.'

I pondered what she said for a moment. From the sound of things, Toxicroak has a weapon that will affect the whole mountain, and then there was the mysterious artist. Who were they and what did they hope to accomplish with Toxicroak? Everything was so confusing. Turning back to the little Munchlax, I patted its head.

'Thank you for telling me.'

Walking over to the Gogoat, I whisper to him, 'We have a problem.'

'What?'

'I was just talking to one of the Munchlax, you know to calm them down.'

'Yes, what of it?'

'Apparently, she overheard Roserade and Toxicroak talking about a fog that will cover the mountain. Once the fog has been released, the mountain will be his.'

'That is most disturbing. Did she say anything else?'

'Only that it was made by the Artist.'

'Any idea who that could be?'

'No, but I think that there is something much bigger going on here.'

'I agree.'

Reaching the rendezvous point, we waited for the other groups to return.

...…..

It was dawn when the others made it. The Munchlax were in a circle eating berries, filling their scrawny forms.

Psyduck and Am were the first to make it back. Floating behind them was a pile of dead Fletchinder and crowning the pile, was a glorious Talonflame.

'I take it that the mission was a success?' I said to Am.

'It was. I don't know why everyone was so worried about it. They weren't that strong.'

I coughed at her statement. Golduck shivered.

'I think that it's you who is too strong.'

She waved me away.

Turning to Golduck, I ask, 'What are the casualties?'

'None. Am was able to wipe them out single-handedly.'

'I expected nothing less.' I replied. After training with her a few times and I knew never to get in a fight.

'Am, can you take the materials back to the den? Honedge and Da should be expecting them.' I ask.

'I can, but don't forget our deal.'

'I would never. When we I get back, I'll get right to work on them.'

Nodding, she picked up the pile and flew towards the den.

'Your Am is one scary Pokemon. She rained down lightning on those birds before we even had a chance to attack.'

That she was. Secretly, Honedge and I called her the Thunder Queen. The spark I received from that Minun was nothing in comparison to her.

'What did you promise her?' Golduck said out of curiosity.

'I promised her a bed made from the down of Talonflame and Fletchinder.'

'You can do that?'

'You would be surprised what I can make from Pokemon. This armor is made out of Whirlipede and Oddish skin.'

'Interesting. I might have to get you to make me something for my ears. You have no idea how loud a Psyduck gets when it has a headache.'

'I might be able to throw something together, but I don't have time to do that now.'

'That's fine. I look forward to it.' He called together his group and headed towards the river.

Gogoat was still watching over his herd when I saw Pangoro's group coming. Unlike Psyduck and Am, Pangoro looked worse for wear. He was covered in cuts and blood. Limping with him, were the Pancham, each as battered as their leader.

Worried I ran over. 'What happened?!? You look like you were put through a blender.'

'Roserade is what happened. After finishing off the Gulpins leader, Swalot, Roserade and her gang showed up.'

'What about Aromatisse? Surely the Spritzee would have made a difference?'

'They did, until Roserade went berserk. She was a hurricane of destruction. Aromatisse held her off while we pulled a retreat. We haven't seen her since.'

'Gogoat, get Golduck. We need to save to Aromatisse before its to late!'

'Yes sir.'

'What are you planning to do? Aromatisse and Spritzee's attacks barely did anything. How will bringing more to their doom, help?'

'I don't plan on attacking, I plan on getting them out of there.'

He was silent. Gogoat and Golduck returned a minute later.

'Come on we need to save Aromatisse and as many Spritzee as possible!'

'Got it!'

I hopped onto Gogoat, while the rest followed on Skiddo. Trees whizzed by and I listened intently for signs of battle.

An hour later and I was met with a sickening sight. Spritzee littered the ground, all severely injured.

'Psyduck, grab as many possible with confusion.'

Blue light engulfed the hurt Pokemon, raising them off the ground. We continued further into the forest, picking up all our downed comrades. Not long after, I could hear the sounds of a fight. Going closer, we found Aromatisse and three remaining Spritzee fighting Roserade and ten Roselia.

'Give up you old bird! There is nothing you can do to defeat me.'

'Fat chance hag. You will fall just like the rest of your decaying kind.'

'Ohohoho. You'll pay for that.' She fired dozens of amethyst needles towards Aromatisse. Blocking using Scrafty bones, Aromatisse huffed in exhaustion. Following up she fired the projectiles at Roserade, who dodged to the right.

'Your aim sucks old bird.' Rosrade taunted.

The Roselia and Spritzee were busy with their own exchanges as well.

Glancing to Gogoat and Skiddo, I say, 'Gogoat, I need you to be ready for a mad dash out of here. Golduck, you'll hold down the Roselia and then grab Aromatisse. Skiddo, catch the Spritzee. I'm going to distract Roserade.'

'That's suicide.' Golduck said.

'I know, but we don't have many options. I know for a fact I can hold her attention while you guys get out of here.'

'But what about you?' He questioned.

'Once everyone is at a safe distance, I am counting on you to get me, Gogoat.' I stared him down for added measure. He was my escape plan.

'I understand.'

'Good. On my mark.' I hefted my spear, aiming to wound Roserade while I have the advantage.

Three..Two..One! I threw it right as Roserade readied an attack.

'What!?!' She dodged.

Running in, I grabbed my spear and went for a swing.

'You!' Roserade shouted.

'Me!' I flaunted. Externally, I was confident and ready for a fight; however, internally, I was scared out of my wits and tired from my previous battle.

'I will enjoy this.' Roserade said.

Getting in close, I try to club her. It was to no avail as she tip-toed around my swing. Switching tactics, I lunge, aiming to skewer her.

Behind me, I heard Golduck slinging the Roselia around with confusion. Skiddo and Gogoat were already retreating with everyone.

Focusing back on Roserade, I narrowly miss leech seed vines. Batting them away, I had to duck as she unleashed magical leaf. They passed by, only to turn around and strike at my back. My armor took the brunt of it, but a few still slipped in between the joints. Gritting my teeth, I dive in, trying to get an attack through.

'How are you still standing? You should be on the ground writhing.'

'I've gotten stronger since the last time we met. I won't lose so easily!' I declared.

'Enough of this.' She spewed a dark cloud from her mouth. It covered the surrounding area in a heavy mist.

My s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e nose screamed from its pungent, sickly sweet smell. Coughing, I focus my field to see where she was going to attack next. A thin vine swung in from the left. Dodging, I ran to get out of the cloud.

'Why aren't you dead yet?' Roserade screeched.

'I didn't know you could use metal sound. The things you learn.' I took another stab at her.

She pirouetted around before using poison sting. I shielded my face with my arms.

'Just die already!'

'Right back at you.'

Swiping off the needles, I go in for another exchange. However, I ended up tripping on something. Looking back, there were two vines wrapped around my ankle.

'I got you now.' She showered me in sludge.

Rolling over, I swung my spear to chop of the vines. Missing the first time, Roserade hit me again with sludge. The second time, I cut it cleanly, rolling from her third attack.

Gaining some distance, I wiped as much gunk off my face. Roserade was not idle, however. Throwing some seeds around my feet, thorny vines sprouted before tying me up.

I could feel them sliding through my armor, digging into my flesh.

'I will take great p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e from s.u.c.k.i.n.g you dry. No one will even recognize your husk.'

Energy drained out of my body.

'Oh how wonderful! Your life essence tastes delicious.'

Black clouded my vision. Slumping, I prayed Gogoat gets here quickly. Falling over, I heard Roserade's jeering laugh.

'You will be a marvelous snack. An appetizer before the rest of your ilk.'

'What?'

'Oh yes. I plan on finding everyone you care about and then turning them to dust. There is nothing you can do about it!'

I could only see red. This Pokemon, this vile, disgusting Pokemon, planned on hurting my family! I won't allow it. I won't allow anything to happen to my family again.

Around me, the air pressure tripled, gravity seemed to squeeze everything. Black roots sprouted from the ground.

'How are you doing that. Its like the forest is angry. Stop it. Stop it.'

The roots tore through the earth, lashing out at Roserade. Each tendril grew spikes that dripped poison. From their shadows, inky hands clamored, attempting to latch onto anything it could, the forest floor was eviscerated. The shadows coalesced, the plants bowed, my bones boiled from the experience and then my mind overloaded.

Crumbling to the ground, I fall unconscious, blood pooling from my nose.

...…..

Quivering on the ground, utterly terrified, was Roserade.

'What was that.'

Silence answered.

It made no sense to her. The oppressive air, the hands, the rage. She felt utter revulsion at the sight.

Bushes rustling, Roserade scrammed back, afraid.

Leaping out, Gogoat picked up the prone boy then vanishing back into the woods. Leaving behind a dumbfounded Pokemon.

'WHAT THE HELL!'
