The Wild Man Of Pokemon

Chapter 26 - Here's to a new adventure!

The sun was high and the road even. The dirt path was well trodden and bore the signs of civilization. A shiver of excitement passed through my spine. Three years of hard work and I can finally meet other people. The culture, the knowledge; heck, I'll finally get to figure out the region I'm in. No more Pokemon world. An actual name. The smirk never left my face.

Shedinja rested on my head. Aside from the halo, he couldn't move any other part of it body. His exoskeleton was one solid piece. The only reason was sticking to my head was telekinesis. An interesting discovery. As soon as he evolved, he could use the move instinctively.

We chocked it up to how Shedinja compensated for its lost limbs.

The psychic energy buzzed on my scalp, but I ignored it in favor of studying how the move actually worked.

At first glance, it was no different to Psychic, but looking deeper I found it to be a weaker version of it. That was not to say that it was inferior. What it lacked in oomph, it made up for in versatility and stickiness.

I love studying Pokemon and their moves.

Honedge and Croagunk were skipping along beside me. It was nice. Me and the beginnings of my team on a merry stroll in search of the modern world.

'Hey Honedge, how far do you think till we reach town?' I asked.

'No clue. The invulnerable I has never left the mountain.'

'Why too scared?' I teased.

'Whha… Why you. I'll have you know that it was actually everyone else running away when they saw me. It was a mercy on them that I stayed on the mountain.'

'Sure whatever you say.'

'Oliver, do you think they will like a shiny like me?' Croagunk nervously asked.

'So much that I am worried they may try to kidnap you.'

'WHAAT! Then why are we going towards them?'

'Because I am sure me and Honedge can protect you.'

Shedinja warbled distastefully.

'Correction, me, Honedge and Shedinja will protect you.'

He purred contentedly. Pokemon are weird.

I did worry about what they would do with us. Its not everyday a boy who should not exist walks into town carrying a spear and three Pokemon. Two of which are shiny.

Sighing, I left that to the future to enjoy the scenery around me. The trees were changing colors and the air was brisk, tainted only by the smell of fish and water. From the lack of salt, I would say it was fresh water.

'I think there is a lake up ahead. We could take a break and get some training in before night falls.' I offered.

They thought about it for only a moment, 'You're the boss.' Honedge said.

'So how is Shedinja's and your training going?'

'Its going. I was able to pick up bug type energy and attach it to my attacks. I think I am getting a handle on psychic energy, but it keeps slipping away.'

'Speaks about your intelligence.' Shedinja's gravely voiced. His new voice still surprised me, where as before it was meek and had a distinct gender, now it was rough and void of polarity.

'I resent that. The all mighty I just need to get used to it.' He retorted.

'Keep telling yourself that.'

'Enough both of you. Honedge, continue.'

'Our ghost type manipulation training has been going fine. We are running into differences in our energy.'

'How so.'

'They behave and feel different. His is thick, heavy and clingy, while mine is flighty and lighter.'

'How interesting. Do you suppose it has to do with the moves you can learn?'

'Possibly, I was able to teach him how to enter shadows and we both were able to manifest the energy outside of our bodies. It was how we found out the difference. Mine naturally gravitated to wisps while his dribbled together.' I received a mental image showing what happened.

'Fascinating. Honedge, I believe your energy is naturally trying to form the move shadow claw. If you can condense the energy down, you can use it as an extra blade. Shedinja, I think yours is trying to go for shadow ball. Once you have it down though, don't be afraid to experiment with it. You never know, you could make an entirely new move.'

They nodded.

'Croagunk, how about you?'

He winced at the question, probably still scared that he will be a disappointment.

'Its going fine. I was working on the potency of the venom I used while also building up more of it. Its slowly improving, but I'm not giving up!'

'That's the attitude. Keep up the good work.' He blushed at the comment. 'How about your fighting moves?'

'About the same. The style you showed me is getting better. As far as moves like revenge, I am hitting a dead end.'

'Perhaps we should find another fighting type Pokemon to teach you.' I stated.

'If you say so.' I raised an eyebrow but didn't push. Croagunk was still insecure about himself.

Trudging for another hour, we reached a glistening lake. The water was clean and Pokemon were buzzing around. In the distance, Ducklett were following a Swanna.

Flowers of varying species dotted the banks and little Flabebe fluttered in them.

'Is that a castle over there?' I asked.

'I believe it is called a chateau.' Honedge corrected.

'How would you know?' Shedinja questioned.

'No idea.' He seemed happy with that admittance.

'Whatever, lets set up camp here and we can check it out in the morning.' I pulled a sack made of Scrafty leather from my back. The elasticity of these Pokemon was incredible. With nothing in it, it was about the size of a milk jug. But once I started filling it, it expanded to fit my down bed and all the materials I could manage. When all was said and done, it almost dwarfed me in size.

'Shedinja, can you use telekinesis to catch fish? It can be the ordinary kinds or Pokemon.'

'Probably.' He didn't move.

'Can you go do it then?'

'Oh, you mean right now?'

'Yes, preferably before I think about eating you.' I barred my teeth for effect.

'Right away sir.' He scrambled over the water.

'While he does that, you two can set up the tent while I start a fire.'

'Yes sir.' They simultaneously said before flinging themselves into the pack. Wonder what got them in such a rush? Certainly had nothing to do with the shinigami behind me. Absolutely not.

......…..

The night passed into morning and I was awoken to the most curios sight. A little kid was holding a sheet against a tree. I assumed it was for camouflage, but the grain of the bark was sideways.

'You can't see me.' I heard him say.

'I definitely can.' I replied. Strangely, he didn't react. Did he not hear me? Nudging the snoring Pokemon near me, they woke up before trying to go back to sleep. Rolling my eyes, I sneaked up on the kid. Grabbing the sheet, I ripped it off saying, 'Who are you!'

"Ah, Anata wa watashi o kowagara seta."

'Ah, you scared me!' I just realized one very important fact. I don't know this worlds language. So far I had been stuck with Pokemon who spoke through intents rather then physical sounds. Picking up the language was easy as most of it was pictures and feelings, but normal people don't talk like that.

On another note, am I hearing his thoughts right now?

The startled child continued chattering about how he was inedible or something. I had a hard time keeping up as what my ears heard was different from my brain.

"Naze anata wa sore o shinakereba naranakatta nodesu ka"

'Why did you have to do that?'

A migraine was coming on.

'Who is he? I've never seen him around before. Is he new around here?'

Thoughts were swimming around my head as I tried to decipher what he was saying. Everyone in the tent had woke up to the kids scream and were no curious to who the new comer was. I barely noticed them, the headache getting worse.

"Daijōbu? Anata wa sorehodo yoku miemasen."

Holding my hands to my temples, I back away till his thoughts quieted down.

'Are you okay?' Honedge asked concerned.

I was nursing my head when the foreign thoughts were coming back, 'Keep him back. It hurts when he is close.'

Realizing what's up, he immediately moves the boy back. A blue frog, however, jumped from behind the kid and shoved Honedge away.

'Stay away from my human.' The little creature said.

'The invincible I would never stoop so low to harm a child. I am merely moving him away from my master. He is not like normal humans.'

'So you saying he is better than us, we'll show you.' The little frog was ready to attack, when Honedge vanished from its untrained sight. A blade appeared on its neck.

'I mean no disrespect to you or your master; however, if you intend to harm us, we will retaliate in kind.'

'Honedge stop.' The headache calmed enough for me to hear what they were saying. The child was on the floor, with no clue whats going on. Tears welling up in his eyes.

Glancing at the little frog Pokemon, I tell it, 'We really don't mean any harm. I lived on the mountain nearby with other Pokemon. There I had an accident and I can hear Pokemon through thought rays. However, it seems I can read the thoughts of other people as well and it overwhelmed me. You and your master is the first human I have met.' in this world went unsaid.

The shock coming from the Pokemon was palpable. 'How is that possible, I have never heard of a human being able to speak to us. Its unheard of.'

'Really? Da and Am heard stories from other Pokemon before, so I thought it wasn't that rare.'

'And you never met a human before? Then how do you talk?'

'I can't. I have no idea how to speak the language.'

Glancing at the kid, I looked him over. He was in what looked like a dark blue ninja costume. Do people normally dress like that?

"Nani o mite imasu ka?"

'What are you looking at? Do I have something in my teeth?'

I am certain that what he was saying does not match up with what he was thinking. Sighing, I try to mime out that I mean no harm. Seeing the confusion grow, I try to sign that I can't speak.

"Hanasenai?"

'You can't speak? That's weird.'

Annoyance crossed my face.

"Watashi wa nan to iimashita ka"

'What did I say? I didn't say anything bad. Maybe he is one of those s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e types big brother always talks about?'

The mental conversation was getting old. I can't understand what he says and reading peoples minds without permission was an invasion of privacy. Hopefully I can turn it off.

Rustling leaves in the trees broke me from my thoughts.

"Anata wa doko ni ikimashita ka?"

"Kare wa koko Ippeidesu"

They weren't close enough for me to read their thoughts. I had no idea what they said.

"Kitaru nihei"

"Aniki "

'Big Brothers!' The little one said.

Two larger versions of the kid dropped from the tree. One had a Bulbasaur on his head while the other had a dark blue frog beside him.

"Watashitachi no otōto ga anata o komara setara mōshiwakearimasen "

'Sorry if our little brother bothered you. Who is this kid? I've never seen him before and those Pokemon. They look really strong.'

The one with the Bulbasaur said. I waved it off hoping they understood.

"Sanpei-san owabi"

'Sanpei, apologize. What's he wearing? I've never seen clothes like that before. What are they made of? Is that a spear?'

I couldn't keep up with them. Between translating and listening to their thoughts, my headache was coming on again. Imagine going through a crowd of people like this. I doubt I would be able to cope. Its getting worse and worse by the second. I can't do this. Getting up, I did what I had to. I ran. Into the forest, not even looking at where I am going. One thought running through my head.

This sucks.
