Titan Rising Online: World Breaker

393 393: The Conclave VI

Kaito gasped and took multiple steps back, the look of horror on his face was made all the more prevalent by the fact that he couldn't even find the injury. Cole had unleashed his killing intent, and it was strong enough that everyone could see exactly how Cole wanted to kill Kaito.

But it was like an illusion. A scene that could be seen one moment and then in the next it was gone. But never the less everyone felt it, fear. It was palpable, it got some people feeling as if they were locked up in a cage with a monster. The normal people had it worse than the aspirants, but never the less Cole had made his point known.

He wanted this damn meeting to be as straight forwards as possible, he would stand by his father and his mother. But any one tries to use him to play politics, or try to coerce him into doing something by way of emotional blackmail. He had left the family before when they had tried to control him, of course he knows now that perhaps that has to have been the most stupid mistake he has ever made in his life, but ultimately it was still a learning experience for him.

"Kaito…..pace yourself child. Your talent with politics is something this family has acknowledged. You play the game better than anyone of us, but ultimately as you say, your brother has a sanctuary and he is the person we need to be convincing. No one here is a child, so before we continue I will advise you to take your own advise.

And Cole your strength is recognized and appreciated, while there is bad blood going around among ourselves I believe as a family we should be open to forgiveness and tolerance, now more than ever seeing as our reality is about to change. If we are to survive this family has to change or we will all perish, while our children are born and grow in a world that is much darker than the one we grew up in."

Cole rolled his eyes, his grand-aunt was playing the game, even if when she was calling Kaito out, she too was playing politics. But no one was going to call her out, as the eldest member of the family there was a certain level of respect that was afforded to her, not to mention she's an aspirant too. Cole was not so blind to not have noticed how she was completely unshaken of every display of power that has come forth.

"I known you are a man of deals Cole, you have what is most definitely an escape plan for the family, but it is not a boon we will be taking advantage of just yet, after all, why would we escape when we have not even tried to fight back. Running with our tails in between our legs is not the Night way. First we fight, and if we cant win we run…then we come back for more, much stronger to get us some payback!"

There was a chorus of agreement among the other family members. The words of his grand aunt seems to have rallied quite a few of the Night family members to her side. But Cole was just waiting for the other shoe to drop, and he didn't have to wait long though as one of his father's cousin stood up and pressed a button on his table to give his mic access to the speakers.

"at this rate, I believe a change of leaderships is still important as it is imperative. Aunt Martha, you are the eldest and you have shown great fortitude and keeping the peace within the family. I think at least even if it's temporary, that you take the reins of the family. The streets will soon run red with blood as our enemies begin to male moves, Uncle Jerome is a business giant and has made the family the financial giant that it is.

But with the civil war he has proven that he is not much when it comes to managing conflicts, even among his own children. You all have to agree, the person who is responsible for alienating our family's most valuable member, and was incapable keeping said member, his own grandson safe, from his own daughter.

I respect you as the head of the family Uncle Jerome, and I honestly do not want to put myself in the cross hairs of your daughter, grandsons and grand-daughter in law. But you are not fit to lead sir, and after everything you have put Cole and his parents through, I believe in this regard they would agree with me. Right Henry? Cole?"

And there it is, the other shoe that he had been waiting for. It was a tight spot, he was definitely not lying and if Cole agreed otherwise then everyone would know, and it would be obvious he was covering for his side of the family which would pretty much make him a pushover, doesn't matter how powerful he is, he would lose his credibility and hand over control of himself to his grandfather.

But if he agreed then they would have effectively isolated him from the rest of his family, or at least split it into two camps. They would use the mistakes of his grandfather and grandmother and the animosity Cole felt against them for it to build their case. It was weird, it was not as if Cole was scared of what anybody here thought of him, but he was in a bloody moral dilemma.

"Cousin, what are you expecting my son to say, that he has a piece of shit spineless grandfather. Fair warning to everyone here, even the elders. I already lost one son, so I am not in a good mood. If anybody uses whats left of my family to play politics again…..then I'll kill you all and just bloody fucking done with it all! Keep my son's name out of your filthy mouth!"
