Chapter 7: I miss you

The banks of the Suhe River are the most prosperous business core areas in Beijing. The headquarters building of the Fu Group, as the tallest building on the banks of the Suhe River, stands like a sharp sword, soaring into the sky.

Today is a clear and bright day, the blue sky is crystal clear, and the clean glass curtain wall of the building reflects a beautiful blue.

Assistant Yu led Ling Tian into the office building, passed through three facial recognition security gates, and finally arrived at the president’s exclusive elevator. Taking this elevator can directly reach the president’s office on the top floor.

“Miss Ling, please.” Assistant Yu swiped the elevator door open and invited Ling Tian in.

But Ling Tian suddenly stopped and felt that something was missing.

She had seen in some TV dramas before that when other girls came to visit their boyfriends at the company, they would bring handmade love lunchboxes to show their affection amidst their busy work. But she had come empty-handed.

Ling Tian felt a little ashamed for no reason. She also wanted to bring a love lunchbox to Fu Chenyan, but she didn’t know how to cook…

Seeing Ling Tian stop, Assistant Yu was a bit puzzled, “Miss Ling?”

Ling Tian suddenly thought of a short story she had read online before, her eyes lit up and she had an idea!

She said, “Assistant Yu, could you please go to the reception and get me a band-aid? Thank you.”

Assistant Yu was surprised and asked, “Miss Ling, did you get injured somewhere?”

If Ling Tian had gotten injured on the way to the company, Assistant Yu needs to immediately prepare himself mentally and get ready to apologize to Fu Chenyan later.

Ling Tian smiled and replied in a cheerful tone, “No, I haven’t been injured. I need the band-aid for something else. Could you please get one for me?”

“Sure, let me take you upstairs to rest first,” Assistant Yu breathed a sigh of relief. He was glad she wasn’t injured.

He didn’t dare to delay and took Ling Tian to the President’s office. He immediately called the reception to bring a band-aid.

At that moment, in the largest conference room of the company, Fu Chenyan had just adjourned a lengthy meeting and asked the executives who had been under high pressure for over an hour to take a ten-minute break before continuing.

The tense backs of the crowd relaxed slightly, but no one chatted. They all bowed their heads and silently browsed the files in front of them, praying they wouldn’t have bad luck in the second half of the meeting.

Fu Chenyan had only slept for three hours last night, and he tiredly pinched his forehead.

His secretary brought him a cup of coffee, and Assistant Yu took the opportunity to approach him and whispered, “Mr. Fu, Miss Ling Tian is here.”

Upon hearing this, Fu Chenyan’s cold eyes flickered slightly. He immediately closed the documents in front of him, stood up, and strode out of the meeting room.

The President’s office on the top floor.

The 270-degree panoramic glass walls were bright and transparent, providing an excellent view of the beautiful scenery of the Suhe River.

Ling Tian was leaning over the ecological tank, admiring the various landscapes inside, when she heard the steady footsteps outside the door and immediately turned around.

A man pushed open the door, with broad shoulders and long legs, wearing a sharp black pinstripe suit. His navy blue tie was tightly tied around his shirt collar, exuding an air of nobility and restraint.

“Husband一” Ling Tian happily pounced towards the man.

This soft and sweet call was filled with affection, making one’s heart feel warm and fuzzy.

She leaped into his arms, and a pleasant scent of orange blossom filled Fu Chenyan’s nose as he gazed down at her.

Ling Tian was wearing a peachy beige lip gloss today, which made her lips look even more plump and tender.

Fu Chenyan wrapped his arm around her waist and calmly asked, “Why are you here?”

Ling Tian’s eyes were watery, and her light-colored pupils clearly reflected his figure.

She softly said, “I missed you.”

The sharpness in Fu Chenyan’s eyes softened, and his magnetic voice lowered, “I missed you too.”

Upon receiving his response, Ling Tian’s ears slowly turned red, and her heart felt like it had dipped into a jar of honey, sweet and sticky.

She lifted her hand and tucked a strand of hair that was falling on her cheek behind her ear.

As she did this, Fu Chenyan noticed a band-aid on the back of her hand, and his expression darkened: “Did you get hurt again?”

Ling Tian seemed like she had been caught doing something secretive, quickly hiding her hand behind her back and taking a step back, with a slightly evasive look in her eyes: “N-no… I didn’t get hurt.”

Fu Chenyan said, “Let me see.”

Ling Tian took another step back and shook her head: “No, don’t.”

Fu Chenyan stepped forward and embraced her small body with his strong arms.

The cold fragrance of cedar wood invaded Ling Tian’s nose, and her face turned red. She didn’t struggle.

Fu Chenyan grabbed her wrist and pulled it towards him, only to see a band-aid stuck firmly on the back of her fair hand.

Old wounds have not yet healed and new wounds have been added.

Fu Chenyan asked in a low voice, “How did you get this?”

Ling Tian bit her lip slightly, lowered her eyelashes, and refused to speak.

“I’ll take a look,” Fu Chenyan had no choice but to carefully remove the band-aid, revealing a bright red color.

It was not a wound, but a small heart drawn with lipstick.

Fu Chenyan was slightly startled, raised his gaze, and met Ling Tian’s eyes full of playful delight.

A shallow dimple appeared at the corner of Ling Tian’s mouth, “Husband, this is my love for you.”

She didn’t have a love lunchbox, but she has love!

Fu Chenyan’s eyes filled with a smile as he lifted her hand and gently kissed the love heart on the back of her hand. “Thank you, I really like it.”

This made Ling Tian’s heart blossom and her eyes curved.

“Husband, look,” she said, placing her thumb and index finger together to form a small heart. “There’s another one here.”

Fu Chenyan looked at her and chuckled, “Is there more?”

“Yes,” Ling Tian nodded, and her slender fingers formed a heart shape by bending into a C. “There’s another one here.”

The corners of Fu Chenyan’s lips turned up.

“And there’s another one.” Ling Tian raised both arms and formed a large C shape, putting her hands together. “This one is a big one.”

Fu Chenyan raised his eyebrows slightly, “No more?”

“Well… not for now,” Ling Tian said, as she only knew a few.

Fu Chenyan said, “There’s still one you haven’t shown me.”

Ling Tian thought for a moment and shook her head, “I don’t know how to do it anymore. Can you teach me?”

“No need for me to teach you,” Fu Chenyan said with a smile. “Don’t you still have a real one?”

Ling Tian was taken aback and instinctively placed her hand on her chest where her heart was beating. “How can I show it to you?”

She can’t possibly take her heart out…

Fu Chenyan leaned closer to her, his voice lowered, “Figure it out yourself.”

As he leaned in closer, Ling Tian’s heart beat faster. “Can I play it for you instead of showing you?”

Today, she was wearing a lavender-purple strapless dress, and under the thin off-white cardigan, the undulating lines were as soft as spring mountains. As Fu Chenyan’s gaze swept over her, his eyes gradually deepened. “How will you play it?”

With a slight blush, Ling Tian whispered, “You’ll know when you come home tonight.”

Fu Chenyan looked at her, a dark color flashing in his eyes. Neither of them spoke anymore, and there was a hint of ambiguity lingering in the air.

“Buzz一” Ling Tian’s phone suddenly vibrated.

Fu Chenyan took a step back and loosened his tie.

Ling Tian glanced at the caller ID. It was an unremarked number, but she remembered it was Si Qin’s phone number.

“It’s Qin Qin, my best friend.”

Fu Chenyan nodded slightly and said in a low voice, “Answer it.”

Ling Tian didn’t avoid him either, she answered the phone with a soft voice, “Qin Qin.”

Si Qin’s worried voice came through the phone, “Tian Tian, I couldn’t reach you by phone. I called Auntie Ling when I couldn’t get in touch with you. She said you had a car accident!”

Ling Tian replied, “Yeah, I was hit by a car last night, but I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

Si Qin said, “How is it possible not to worry? Tian Tian, where are you? Let’s meet up now.”

Ling Tian glanced at Fu Chenyan and said, “Then let’s meet at Suhe Harbor, okay?”

Si Qin replied, “Okay, I’m nearby. See you later.”

Ling Tian said, “Okay, see you later,” before hanging up the phone.

After she hung up, Fu Chenyan looked at his watch. He had to leave for a meeting immediately.

He lifted Ling Tian’s face and lightly kissed her lips, “See you tonight.”

. . . . .

Suhe Harbor is the first open-air shopping center in Beijing, belonging to the Fu Group.

Ling Tian and Si Qin met at a café in Suhe Harbor.

When Si Qin talked to Song Shuwan, she already knew everything about Ling Tian, including her forgetting about Zhongsen’s bankruptcy and thinking she was dating Fu Chenyan.

Si Qin asked Ling Tian if her injuries were serious, and Ling Tian lifted her skirt and sleeves to show her.

Although they were all minor injuries, Si Qin still felt sorry for Ling Tian and wanted to soothe her pain, just like when they were young and accidentally fell, a gentle touch from an adult would make the pain go away.

After a while, Si Qin cautiously asked, “Tian Tian, are you really dating Fu Chenyan?”

“Yes, he loves me very much.” Ling Tian’s sweet expression overflowed from her eyes and eyebrows as she repeated what she had told Song Shuwan to Si Qin.

“I’m sorry, Qin Qin, I didn’t mean to hide it from you.” Ling Tian’s tone was apologetic. “Because Ah Yan doesn’t want to make our relationship public yet.”

She didn’t want to make it public until she got her parents’ approval. After all, Fu Chenyan was a high-profile figure, and if her parents didn’t approve, it would damage his reputation if the news got out.

Since Ling Tian was sick, Si Qin wouldn’t blame her. She tentatively asked, “So, how far have you two gone? Have you hit a home run1 yet?”

Ling Tian blushed a little and shook her head. “Not yet. He cherishes me a lot.”

Si Qin’s heartstrings loosened a bit. Perhaps Fu Chenyan was serious about Ling Tian and not just playing around?

The two of them left the café and strolled around Suhe Harbor together. They came across a luxury store, and Ling Tian pulled Si Qin inside to take a look.

Ling Tian had been eyeing a bag from this luxury brand for a long time, and she had many of them in her family’s wardrobe.

She saw a new style in the store, of which there was only one available at the moment.

This bag costs 198,000 yuan, a price tag that Ling Tian wouldn’t even blink an eye at in the past. But even now, she had no hesitation in taking it.

She didn’t remember that Zhongsen Group had gone bankrupt.

Si Qin didn’t stop her when she saw that she liked the bag, she thought she would just pay for it when it was time to check out.

Ling Tian was just about to ask the store clerk to wrap up the bag she had chosen when she heard a surprised voice.

“Ling Tian?!”

Ling Tian and Si Qin looked up to see an acquaintance enter the store 一 Li Muxin.

Li Muxin and her friend came in holding hands.

“Wow, it’s really you! I thought I was seeing things,” Li Muxin said as she looked at the bag in Ling Tian’s hand, making a slight clicking noise with her tongue.

“Zhongsen Group has gone bankrupt, so how come our little Zhongsen princess is still shopping for luxury goods here?”
