Fang Yuan’s voice held an air of indifference as she spoke, “Choose between the bed or the floor.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Bo Yi promptly replied, “I’ll take the bed. Shall we share it?”

“Dream on!” Fang Yuan set her glass of water down and noticed that the bed had only a pillow and a blanket. Norda’s bedroom lacked even a sofa, and this realization struck her.

“In that case, I’ll take the floor,” Bo Yi declared, seating himself on the ground. He offered the sole pillow and blanket to Fang Yuan. “I’m not tired. You go ahead and get some rest.”

Just as they settled in, the lamp abruptly ran out of battery, plunging the entire room into darkness.

Fang Yuan lay on the bed, wrapping herself with the blanket, and could faintly hear Bo Yi’s steady breathing.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Bo Yi gently stroked Fang Yuan’s hair with his large hands. “Good night.”

Fang Yuan felt her hand being held by him, and soon, she drifted off to sleep.

The following morning, the sound of running water emanated from the bathroom. Fang Yuan gradually opened her eyes, greeted by the brightness of the day. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a hazy glow in the room.

After a while, the bathroom’s water ceased, and a figure emerged. “Are you awake?”

Fang Yuan sat up, her soft, cascading hair framing her innocent and charming face. A faint smile touched the corners of her delicate lips, and her eyes exuded warmth.

Bo Yi, still in the pajamas he wore the previous night, carried a blend of masculine and aristocratic charm that was different from the night before.

As he approached, Fang Yuan got out of bed and spoke calmly, “I need to head to work soon.” She took a step and unexpectedly kicked something. Looking down, she discovered it was the pajamas she had chosen for herself the previous night. Bo Yi had rolled them into a makeshift pillow on the floor. Realizing he had slept on the cold floor, Fang Yuan couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions, unsure if it was unease or guilt that washed over her.

Seated at the dining table, Bo Desong observed the early risers with a smile. The more he watched them, the more convinced he became of their compatibility. A sense of happiness enveloped him as he asked, “Why didn’t you two sleep a bit longer?”

“The floor was too hard”.

Bo Yi’s response drew curious glances from both Bo Desong and Butler Wen. Last night had presented a perfect opportunity, so why had this seemingly oblivious gentleman chosen to sleep on the floor?

“But isn’t there a bed in that room?” Bo Desong had higher expectations for his grandson. “Why didn’t you take advantage of the situation? Do I need to teach you such things?”

Fang Yuan chimed in, “He gave me the bed. By the way, was the door to the room fixed this morning?”

Bo Desong felt a pang of guilt, as he had indeed arranged for the door to be unlocked with a spare key at dawn. He wondered if his granddaughter-in-law had figured it out.

Fang Yuan, however, chose not to expose his scheme and simply said, “It’s alright.”

Bo Desong looked at the astute girl before him and then at his somewhat clueless grandson. He couldn’t help but feel a surge of frustration. What an opportunity they had missed!

After breakfast, Bo Yi escorted Fang Yuan to work.

Watching them depart, Butler Wen discreetly retrieved a handbag belonging to Young Madam. “Old Sir, Young Madam’s bag is here.”

He had intended to remind Bo Desong earlier, but in order to give Young Madam a chance to repay the favor, he waited until after they had left to pick up the bag.

“Very well,” Bo Desong said with satisfaction. “I’ll have Yi deliver it to her later. This way, we’ll have another opportunity to meet…”

“Old Sir, you seem genuinely concerned about Young Master,” Butler Wen remarked.

A pensive look crossed Bo Desong’s face as he gazed in the direction they had gone. “After what transpired last night, I wonder if Yuanyuan is still willing to visit my home… Has she seen through my plan?”

“What transpired last night could be attributed to coincidence. Young Madam is so innocent; she probably won’t dwell on it too much,” Bo Desong mused, voicing his hope.

“I share your hope!” Bo Desong added in his thoughts. If the young lady chose not to visit in the future, he might have to feign illness. It was indeed quite a challenge to have a disappointing grandson!

Inside the car, Bo Yi glanced at the girl beside him and recalled her wearing his white shirt the previous night. Her fair complexion, the alluring collarbone, and those long legs…

“You looked stunning in that shirt last night,” he complimented.

Fang Yuan arched an eyebrow. “Am I not beautiful usually?”

“You’re always beautiful,” Bo Yi responded, leaning in closer to her delicate, pink ear. His voice took on a teasing and seductive tone. “But last night was exceptionally enticing.”

Fang Yuan,”…”

Bo Yi’s gaze turned affectionate, and a smile played on his lips. “You were so well-behaved last night.”

After falling asleep, she had been quiet and obedient, akin to a slumbering elf..
