Vampire: Fall Of The Gods

Chapter 37 - Illusion

"Fine then. I shall proceed then."

He placed his hands in a praying position and lightning started to crack around his palms. As he pulled them apart and stopped in line with his shoulder. Between his hands small streaks of lightning flashed and a compressed lightning ball appeared and floated upward and grew until it was around one metre in diameter.

"I really did not expect you to block my strongest attack. Although he was mindless, it went down to fast."

The lightning ball cracked and broke apart. From it appeared a giant eel.

"Oh I see. You charged a huge amount of lightning to fill the room with the lightning element and lured a spirit here under your control. Smart. Since you yourself cannot suplly it with magic you filled the room with the lightning energy. Bring it."

"Kill him!"

The giant eel that was two metres thick and twelve metres long attacked me with lightning as it dashed at me to wrap around me and directly stream the lightning into my body.

"I hope your eel is heat resistant.

THE SUN"S HEAT

FLOWS THROUGH ME

ITS RAYS

MY ARMOUR."

My silver flaming armour burnt bright and even the floor started to melt and boil. The eel that was wrapping around me burst in flames and disappeared.

"Damn. So hot, you should cool down. Would not want to fall through the floor."

I deactivated the spell.

"Here comes my last attack. It may not be as strong as the first one, but it is definitely more affective."

He placed his middle finger and index finger on his forehead. The two fingers started to glow bright and he pointed at me shooting a small light burrowed into my forehead.

"Athan help me!"

I heard Rana scream for my help and I turned around to find out that we were in a forest, the forest were we first met her brother, Afanas. I ran toward her as I saw Afanas and Cian standing behind her as the shoved there hands through her c.h.e.s.t.

"No!"

"Now, now my friend. Don't be so distraught. You brought this on yourself. You killed us, it is only our duty to do the same unto you."

Cian smiled as lifted his hands shaking his head at me.

"How could you let me be killed? Shouldn't it be you who is punished? Why should I suffer?"

Rana looked at me hatefully.

"Yes, sister. It is he who should be punished not you."

Rana appeared in front of me and stabbed into my c.h.e.s.t and ripped out my heart.

"It is only right to take your heart after you have broken mine."

It went black and I appeared in a familiar place.

"Athan, have you gone and fetched water from the river?"

"Mother?"

"Yes dear, who else would I be?"

She came around the corner of the room. This is wrond, I know this is not real. Rana felt surreal, yet my mother feels so real.

"No I haven't, sorry."

"It is not something to cry about at your age Athan."

I realised I had started to cry.

"I do not know what came over me."

Suddenly the room started burning and a bandit was stabbing my mother repeatedly. I pounced at the bandit and he disappeared.

"Why didn't you save me Athan? Why did I have to die? Is it because I am not your real mother?"

"No I..."

"Yes Athan, why didn't you save her? Why did I have to die because of you? Don't you see? You bring suffering to those around you. You should just die."

Rana appeared around me and placed her hand on my shoulder and with the other she threw a magic enchanted dagger on the floor in front of me.

"It is true that I couldn't save her. In this illusion I couldn't save you either. That all may be true, but I shall never kill myself without trying to make everything right."

"Then see how everyone around you dies."

I was back in the village in the middle f the village.

"Afanas, how could you betray me?"

"Father, you are old. It is time for me to take up the throne."

Afanas killed Thanatos.

"Now, the three of you who protected him must be punished. To bad that brother in law escaped. Maybe if he hears you scream he will come back."

Tacito Baldovino and Clemente was suddenly chained to a wall with magic enchanted shackles. I tried to save them until I hit a invisible wall.

"They cannot see, hear or interfere with us. Just as you cannot interfere with them."

"Rana..."

Afanas brought in a druid that cast some spell on them. He then grabbed a wrapped up tool kit and withdrew a small sharp knife. He slowly started flaying off pieces of their skin until only the muscle of their bodies remained.

"Please..."

"No mo..."

"I beg..."

The three of them started to speak. It came out as mumbling since they had long since lost their strength and the magic shackles sealed their powers.

"I should probably cut out that tongue of yours."

Afanas walked forward and pulled out their tongues and cut them out.

"Better, silence just the way I like it. Now for your muscles. The forest animals may need some meat."

"Why don't you end it Athan? Here, it is easy, just stab this into your heart."

Rana took my hand and placed the dagger in it.

"I must say. This spell would kill most people mentally, but unfortunately for you it had the opposite effect. It just enraged me."

I stabbed the dagger into Rana's heart.

"Why would you..."

The area around me suddenly darkened and I reappeared in the dining room.

"Too bad."

Sasha's brother stepped back in fear and started to laugh.
