Vampire: Fall Of The Gods

Chapter 43 - Making A Deal

SIX DAYS PA.S.SED

In this time I had received the ale, a permit delivered by one of Sasha's men and we arrived at the Eagle clan. The Eagle clan was in a city which was surprising. From what was implied by Sasha as we exchanged more information, the Eagle clan rule over this city and the humans in it are not their slaves. They are normal humans that knows of the vampire's existence. They choose to stay and go as they want to. With the condition that they do not tell anyone of vampires.

We had been granted entry since the permit also stated that we are vampires. We had rented three rooms at an inn. One for me and Rana, one for Tacito and one for Baldovino and Clemente. Today we have to sell the ale and gather information. I had used the carriage as a place to sell the ale.

"Athan, don't you think, even though it is night the number of people buying ale is low?"

"I agree Rana, I presume it is due to a local Tavern that they do not buy here. I shall go and check things out. Stay close to the other three. Do not let your guard down."

I asked a man close by to direct me to the local tavern. After walking around a few minutes I found the tavern and entered it.

"What can I do for you sir?"

I beautiful auburn haired lady greeted my from behind the counter.

"Are you the owner of this tavern?"

"Yes I am. May I know why a handsome man like you are looking for me?"

"I have come to sell some ale, it seems that I may have been rejected by other people due to your tavern. I understand that it is mostly due to loyalty. I am here with a proposal, could I work here and try to sell my ale? Of course thirty percent of the sales will go to you."

"I want fifty."

"Twenty."

"Did you just lower it?"

"Yes. You want to rob me from my own produced ale. The profits I make is already divided to those working for me and myself. I have given you a reasonable price and you reached to far. So I cut of the branches that are scratching the window."\

"I see. Fine. Twenty it is. I don't see why I cannot give you the tavern for the time you are here. I don't even have to pay you, you are paying me."

"That is true. So I can bring the ale over?"

"Yes you can."

"Thank you."

I parted ways and headed back. On the way back I realised I was being followed. Instead of directly waiting for the person to walk past me or heading straight back, I cut a few corners into dark alley ways and waited for him on a roof I jumped on.

As soon as the person came into sight I jumped them and put the sword against their throat.

"Why are you following me."

He remained silent. Being a vampire does not make you immortal. I guess I have to convince him that I can kill him. I leaked a bit of my killing intent. I also activated a bit of fire on the sword.

"Do you believe this sword cannot kill you?"

"..."

The man still remained silent. I removed the sword from his throat and turned him around. I grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up. I stopped hiding my stigma and pointed I straight at him.

"Answer me or die."

The man's expression immediately changed and he swallowed some saliva.

"The owner sent me to gather information and if I could steal your ale, steal it. You had offended the Miss greatly. So she wanted to gather information and kill you herself when she had the chance."

"Good boy."

I stabbed the sword through his heart and absorbed his blood, after which I burnt his corpse. I sealed my stigma again and headed back after finding my way again.

I informed Rana and the rest of what happened at the tavern and how the man followed me so they should keep their eyes open while I take the ale over there. I told them that I would not use any of my magic, demon or stigma abilities while I was in public. I knew that I had a 80% chance to survive using just my abilities as a vampire. I headed back to the tavern with the cart full of ale.

I entered the tavern and brought in the barrels of ale. The owner was surprised to see me return before her lackey could. I smiled slightly and she frowned at the sight. I moved up next to her as I set one barrel down at that spot.

"Why don't you have a taste of the product, you seemed so curious you even sent a man after me."

I whispered it so that only she could hear it.

"I should do it for safety reasons."

She lowered and took a sample and tasted the ale.

"It is delicious. Actually extraordinary if I say so myself. If you leave after selling all this would you bring more?"

"One day maybe."

Looks like she caught the drift that I wasn't as easy to dispose of.
