Walking The Jiang Hu

Chapter 14 - Diphylleia Garden

"*sigh* being an outer sect elder is so boring", Feng Qing thought while kicking stones while walking along a stone path.

Today Feng Qing had to check if everyone had been doing the mission they were required to do when disciples first joined.

Feng Qing had just checked a boy who was supposed to take care of multiple domesticated demon beasts but instead of feeding them with the food he was given to feed then with he fed them with human food and no demon beast wanted any of his food and most of them died.

Feng Qing immediately scolded that disciple and had him receive sever punishment.

severe punishment included losing all you spirit stone allowance, not allowed to buy anything from the contribution hall or having to leave the sect.

"Man, what's the next kid I gotta go to check? Uuuuuuuuuh, oh! Yip An", Said in surprise "I heard think kid did quite well in the entrance exam. But he didn't have the best talent level."

Yip An then turned around in direction of Yip An's residence.

It said that Yip An was supposed to be taking care of a bunch of herbs and nurturing them with farming techniques.

As Feng Qing slowly came closer to the residence she could feel her body fully embraced by a wave of spiritual qi. As she got closer to Yip An's residence the qi in the air was so thick that sometimes it would form into a liquid form in the air and drop to the ground.

This place was an amazing place to cultivate here. If she cultivated here she would receive twice the results with half of the effort.

She got closer and closer until she could see a farm with skeletons intertwined within the herbs. All of these skeletons had magical runes of different colors running through them. Some were golden, some were blue.

But the same thing they all held in common was the pattern of their runes. They all looked like blooming flowers. This was the most beautiful thing Feng Qing had ever seen apart from herself.

All the herbs were holding the skeletons like as if they were the babies. Maybe they were s.u.c.k.i.n.g the power out of the skeletons?

That could plausible but where exactly did these skeletons come from?

Feng Qing then proceeded to the farm house at the center of the field.

The house had this old dusty feeling to it and felt old and derelict.

Just as she was about to open the door it opened for her and she was greeted by a boy who was meditating in the lunge room. His forehead was bulging and without looking, "Mind your step"

Just as he said that Feng Qing tripped over and she feel but she supported herself with her qi and stood back up.

"Do you know why i'm here?", questioned Feng Qing while trying to make an aura of her being an elder or senior. Feng Qing was new to this kind of thing and she just became an outer sect elder two months ago.

It was very hard to stay calm and composed for her as she had a personality of being silly and funny.

She would always have fun talking to other people and wasn't an introvert like most cultivators. One such example was Yip An. He basically had no friends within the sect and you wouldn't get far without them. But they can also be a burden or be a threat. Anybody can be a threat! Even if you've known them for years.

"Yes I do, you are here to check on how i'm doing on my mission", replied Yip An while staying put and meditating.

"As you can see already as you entered my garden before you were very surprised at how well I had done. But before anything I'd like to clarify that I didn't murder any of those skeletons when they were still alive. Nor did i buy them."

Feng Qing then looked at Yip An and only judged him to be a qi condensation level 7. Feng Qing wouldn't think that Yip An would've been able to murder any of those skeletons when they were alive. Judging from their bones she could tell they were all about in there 20's 30's and 40's.

Feng Qing then pulled him Yip An by the ear and had him come outside.

"Eh! What are you doing you idiot", screamed Yip An as he was being pulled outside like a baby by his ear.

"Now before I leave I'd like to know how you've done with your farming techniques. There are five levels to each technique and if you've reached level two one each technique then I'll say you've completed your mission.", Feng Qing explained.

"You've already done a magnificent job with nurturing the farm. But if you can't show me these techniques then you won't be considered a farmer."

Yip An nodded and then started chanting words under his breath and up above in the air there was a small little rain cloud that formed.

The cloud then began raining a aquamarine colored liquid that began revitalizing the herbs making them even higher quality than before.

Eventually the little rain cloud became smaller and smaller until it disappeared into nothingness.

Yip An showed the rest of his techniques impressing Feng Qing deeply.

"It seems you are much stronger than appear to be. I'll pass you. Good job!", praised Feng Qing genuinely.

Yip An then waved his goodbyes impressed in his performance.

What was Yip An doing when Feng Qing opened the door you may ask?

He was practicing the spiritual sense refining technique in the Introductory Puppet Controlling Technique. It was called the Spiritual Sense Refining Technique. Pretty lame name right?

Yip An was practicing it and was just about to break through to the 1st degree of refining.

Each degree of refining granted your spiritual sense with massive strength. This technique actually was actually pain wrenching.

It hurt so much when Yip An cultivated it but he pulled through every time with his powerful resilience.

But each time he refined his spiritual sense it said it would become more painful each time and you would have to get supplementary pills to ease the pain.

It was actually very easy. All you would have to numb your sense is with pills and then cultivating this technique would be easy as 1, 2, 3.

However, the affect would last for months or even years so Yip An would only dare do it in seclusion but he's always outside tending to the garden. What if he gets attacked. Who knows?

Nevertheless, there's too many disadvantages when taking it and he wasn't willing to any time soon.

Right now he was currently cultivating technique and had almost broken through to the first degree. Before he had broken through to the first degree he had already gained a significant change in his spiritual sense.

he could fully sense anything within 100 meters of him and could see the details of any painting without looking behind himself.

He hadn't even broken through to the first level and had already gained the spiritual sense of somebody that had a level far higher from somebody of a qi condensation cultivator. His spiritual sense was equal to somebody at half-step foundation establishment.

Too strong!

The book said that if you cultivated the technique to the 40th level you would be able to see anything within 100,000 kilometers of you.

This technique was actually stupidly powerful!

Yip An was drooling at the power of the technique.

Yip An then kept cultivating the technique for a couple more months and had finally broken through to the 1st degree ad could feel anything within 150 meters of him.

Truly amazing!

But he had found something peculiar about the garden lately. The skeletons had all started gaining auras of their own and could see small little green orbs floating within the skeletons rib cage.

After further contemplation he decided to name this Diphylleia Garden. As there was a small plant that he knew was called the skeleton flower that was everywhere in the forest he used to train in. It was a white transparent flower.

It also made Yip An feel at home when he named it a flower from his hometown.

Yip An then kept his cycle of cultivating and tending to the garden everyday for 1 year straight until he heard rumors.

Rumors of a competition.
