“Gichiiii.”

When Johann went inside, it was a very large space. And there was a dirt pile in the center, with a huge monster waiting on top of it.

“Kuwa Geiger… that’s a pretty big monster,” Johann said.

It has a black, rugged shell that looks like it’s made of boxes and patterns that look like electric circuits glowing bluish-white. It just looks like a mechanical stag beetle. Except for the Collaboration Event, it will be stronger than any monster Johann has fought so far.

“GichiiIIIII.”

Kuwa Geiger lets out an unpleasant buzz, electric shocks erupt from its body then lightning rains down on the arena.

“You’re kidding… so fast?!” Johann cried.

She couldn’t handle the speed. Johann’s HP disappears in an instant, leaving only 1 left.

“‘Guts’ Skill has Activated.”

Thanks to the Summoned Beast’s skills, Johann also benefits from Guts.

“Oh, thank goodness… I’ll be invincible for 10 seconds while I regain my posture… wait, what!?”

At that moment, Johann realized that her body had stopped moving. And then, she noticed that her status column was displaying Abnormal Status “Stun”.

Stun was a status ailment that immobilized you for 10 seconds. Guts has been rendered worthless.

“Alright, now I can move! Summoned Beast—UWAAAHH!?”

The moment the Invincibility and Stun both wear off, a lightning attack strikes Johann again. Is this the end…? Or so she thought.

“‘Guts’ Skill has Activated.”

“Huh? Why?” Johann asked.

Guts triggered twice.

(How? Guts should have been a skill that could only be used once a day… probably!)

Johann then remembers that the Magic Golem’s “Magic Release” skill was duplicated.

(You don’t mean, I can use Guts as many times as I have summoned beasts!?)

Hinadora and Inukoro are Johann’s Beginner summons with Guts. There are 13 of them in total. Since she’s activated it twice now, she figured she can use Guts 11 more times.

“But even if I could use Guts… at this rate,” Johann mumbled.

Even if she endures it with Guts, she won’t be able to move after being stunned. And if the stun wears off, the next lightning attack will come immediately after that.

“This is an infinite loop, isn’t it? … This is rough.”

Even after this, Johan continued to be stunned by lightning attacks without being able to move even one step away.

“Kuh…” Johann groaned. “This is already the 10th time… Guts has 3 charges left…”

But things changed when she got stunned for the 10th time.

“‘Stun Resistance: Small’ Skill has been Acquired.”

Stun Resistance: Small

50% Chance of Nullifying Stun Abnormal Effect.

Acquisition Conditions

Be stunned 10 times within a certain period of time.

“This, this is it!” Johann cried.

Guts’ Invincibility and the Stun both wore off. Then, Johann is hit once more by an unavoidable lightning attack.

“‘Guts’ Skill has Activated.”

“‘Stun Resistance: Small’ has Activated.”

“Hooray! Now I can move!” Johann cried.

There is no way she can’t take advantage of this opportunity. Johann calls one of the summoned beasts she got from Zecca.

“Summoned Beast Call—Scapegoat!”

A round, plush sheep-like monster emerges from the geometric magic circle. This monster also had 3 special skills. Johann used 2 of them to create a chance to attack.

“Scapegoat, use ‘Multiply’!” Johann yelled.

“Meeh!” Scapegoat bleated.

Scapegoat splits into three. “Multiply” allows the user to create two clones. By combining it with another Skill, it becomes tremendously more effective.

“Now keep activating ‘Decoy’!” Johann yelled.

“Decoy” is a Skill that makes the user attract enemy attacks for a certain period of time.

“GiiiiiiIIII.”

Because of Decoy, Kuwa Geiger’s lightning strikes go from raining all over the arena to concentrating on Scapegoat. Johann feels happy her plan worked out as she hoped it would.

""

“Mee-EEEH.”

After she confirmed Scapegoat has been struck by lightning and killed, she summons another Scapegoat and activates Decoy on it. By repeating this, Johann could neutralize the enemy’s attack 2 more times.

“Black Flame!”

In the meantime, Johan fires Hinadora’s skill “Black Flame” at the enemy. From Johann’s magic stat exceeding 500 due to stacking “Magic Release” skills, it deals tremendous damage to Kuwa Geiger.

“But I can’t do it with just one shot,” Johann said. “But, I can shoot four more—Black Flame!”

At the same time as the second shot hits, the second Scapegoat is killed. Johann uses her last Scapegoat and orders it to use Decoy, then fires a third Black Flame.

“GichigichichiiiiIIIIII.”

With the 3rd Black Flame, Johann somehow succeeded in destroying Kuwa Geiger’s HP bar. Kuwa Geiger decomposes into particles of light and disappears, and the door on the other side of the arena opened. And where Kuwa Geiger once stood, a treasure chest appears.

“Level Up, you are now Level 15.”

Johann’s leveled up but she did not learn new Skills. Well, Johann reaches out to the treasure chest and found a summoned beast crystal inside, she thought, “Well, I’ve learned 1 skill, so Johann guess this is alright.” However, it was color yellow and shining, and something made Johann feel that it was different from the others.

Summoned Beast “Kuwa Geiger”

“Does this mean I can use the stag beetle I fought just now? That’s amazing! Can I use this in the ranking battle? But I’m sure I’ll do great! Ufufu, here I come, Intermediate Summoning Skill!”

Johan put the Kuwa Geiger summoning stone into her storage and skipped to the second floor.

T/N: Aah, as an avid gamer, the terrible design decisions and the balance of these VRMMO stories pain me so. It feels as if this super popular series was also built by newbies who happened to have a budget.
