When Love Beckons Twice

"Do you really think he would let you be anywhere near Xiao Li if he was trying to take her away from you? Much less giving you a chance to stay in the mansion. Qingling put aside the thought of him taking away Xiao Li and think rationally about it."

Jin Qingling's mouth opened wide in shock at what her mother had just said. Was it really the way her mother put it to be? How come she failed to think of it through this angle?

She had probably been too shocked when Wu Zihao decided to take Xiao Li with him and because of that, she had failed to see the bigger picture, which the elderly couple easily did. 

Was— was he really giving her a chance? 

"Jin Qingling, listen to me," said Mrs. Jin, pulling her daughter out of her thoughts and drawing her attention back to her. "If you really love him and want him back, then agree to go and live in the mansion with him. Who knows this might be your only chance to win his love back."

"Mom do you really think this is the case? Does he really want me to make the amends?" Jin Qingling looked utterly troubled and unsure. The way Wu Zihao had been giving her a cold shoulder, she could not believe that he would want her back, much less give her a chance to rectify what happened.

"So what, even if he does not?" Questioned Mr. Jin and both the women's eyes snapped to look at him. "Even if he is doing it just for Xiao Li's sake, what is the problem in using this opportunity to win him back? You are Xiao Li's mother after all and that makes you the best choice to be by his side, as you would never hurt Xiao Li."

"Your father is right Qingling. He has been in love with you for so long, and so have you. Above all, you even have a daughter with him now! So what is the harm in taking the chance? If things go in your favor, you will get back the man you loved and Xiao Li will get a complete family. But if you don't try it is very likely that you will lose not just him, but also Xiao Li. Think about it!"

"But... but what if this all turns out to just be a false assumption?" She asked meekly. She was not being pessimistic, but she was just scared to raise her hopes again to only get them shattered in the end once again.

She was still coming to terms with everything that had taken place, and barely got any time to think things through. The revelation that she had been played around by her very own sister and the man who had claimed to love her for all these years; to have been threatened by the life of her daughter and now to find out that Wu Zihao had taken away Xiao Li, it was all just too much for her bear.

When she had found out the truth from Gen, she was already too embarrassed to go back to him. And when she saw his cold behavior towards her, she had made herself believe that he had moved on and therefore she should also give up on him. But now listening to her parents saying all this, her resolve was breaking. All the love for him that she had locked in the deepest corner of her heart somewhere four years back was now struggling to get free.

Jin Qingling knew that she had been very foolish in the past and had hurt him beyond forgiveness. And that was the reason she did not want to go back to him anymore, in the fear of just worsening the situation further for both of them, and not to forget that there was also a child involved now. She had never had the intention to hurt Wu Zihao but it was just that she had been too naive to have blindly trusted her sister so much that she failed to think anything else. That one mistake from her and the things went on falling apart one after the other, leading them all to where they were now— a dead end, or so did she thought that it was.

Mrs. Jin sighed and pressed her daughter's hand that she had been holding, to gain her attention. "Then at least you will know that you tried."

The elderly couple knew how Jin Qingling felt about Wu Zihao. They knew she loved him a lot and was too guilty to approach him again, after everything that took place between them. So rather than seeing her live in guilt every day they pushed her to fight for her love. They didn't exactly know the motive behind Wu Zihao's action but they saw is at a chance fo Jin Qingling to correct her past mistakes. And they knew that if Jin Qingling tried, she could turn this dead-end into a new opportunity for both her and Wu Zihao. And as her parents, they obviously hoped for the best for this daughter of theirs after seeing her suffer so much in the hands of their other daughter, who was now in the hospital after getting shot and about whom they had no idea what her future held for her anymore. 

Jin Qingling continued sitting there for a long while as she thought hard about what her parents had said. She knew that deep down she still loved Wu Zihao— no, actually he was the only person she had ever loved and she would be lying if she said that she did not yearn for him anymore. She had just buried that yearning somewhere and it was coming back to the surface now. But this time, she was not going to bury it again.

After a small push from her parents, she finally made her decision. She stood up, gave them a small hug, and left.

Wu Zihao I know I messed everything up, but let me set it right again.
