CHAPTER 14: DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS NOT ESTABLISHED

Yamato Calendar 10 May, Year 304.

It has been about two months since the Empire was transferred to another world.

On this day, the Yamato Empire finally became fully involved with a nation from another world.

They decided to send ambassadors to establish diplomatic relations with the four countries whose locations are currently known: Balka Kingdom, Beastvania, Great Moruro Empire, and Dark Elf Empire.

Each ambassador travels thousands of kilometers aboard a warship to reach the eastern continent, unknown to the Yamato people.

And there, the end result is exactly the same, except for one.

Eastern Continent, Beastvania Peninsula. Beastvania Beastkin King’s Capital Lycanvania.

Lycanvania, it’s a fortified walled city facing the sea, with a population of about 20,000.

It is a city that functions as the capital of a nation and is a large city for this world that has only a medieval level of technology.

In appearance, it’s a very ordinary fantasy city… the only strong feature is that the buildings are a bit battered.

At the port of Lycanvania, a lion-type beastkin was holding high a spear dripping with blood.

At the tip of the spear is a human head.

It is the head of the ambassador sent by the Yamato Empire for the beastkin nation of Beastvania. Immediately after coming all the way to this place, he was impaled with a spear and beheaded without even listening.

Too much cruelty, too much of a terrible treatment.

The corpses of several guards who came with the ambassador are also lying nearby.

“Grrrrr! behold, we have defeated a filthy hairless ape from a country calling itself the Yamato Empire!!”

A lion man with a spear – Lycan II, King of Beastvania, roars. And then, the surrounding people roared as well.

They don’t feel a shred of guilt for having killed a human being. No, they even feel as if it is absolute justice to do so.

“Woooaah! that’s our great King Lycan II! the mighty leader of the Lion Clan, the King of Hundred Beasts!”

“That’s right! kill all those hairless apes! sink that ship, too!”

The killing of Ambassadors.

That alone is a revolting act from the perspective of a 21st-century nation. It is an act that cannot be complained about even if the U.S. military, which calls itself the world’s police, were to come knocking.

But what is given to the act is not condemnation but cheers.

In this world, killing a different species is something to rejoice about, no matter what.

Furthermore, the beastkins do not stop there. Unlike on Earth, they live in a world that doesn’t even have the word “human rights,” and simply killing the ambassador is still not enough for them.

Blood and violence. Seeing that, the beastkin burst into a mob at once, exploding their hostility toward humans, or more precisely, toward other races different from their own.

And their next target was the cruiser Chiyoda which carried the ambassador.

Unable to stay in port due to a lack of draft, they boarded fishing boats and old-fashioned galleys anchored in the harbor and began a vigorous assault on the Chiyoda, which was anchored offshore.

The Captain of the Chiyoda, Samejima, is astonished by the situation.

It’s obvious.

When we sent an ambassador to establish diplomatic relations, a king-like guy appeared, and just when we thought the discussion was about to begin, the ambassador and his bodyguards were killed without even any chance for a proper conversation.

And for some reason, their people are attacking us in rowing boats.

Any sane person with a rational brain would be confused as to what is going on.

“These guys are crazy. How can you pick a fight with a 3,000 ton cruiser when you only have a rowboat like that? The ambassador has been killed, the only thing we can do is to retreat.”

“Why don’t you fight back? what about avenging the Ambassador?”

However, the Captain of the Chiyoda kept his composure. He then declares that we will flee without resistance. However… the First Officer seems to be unconvinced.

He seems to want to say.

Can you stand back and watch your fellow countrymen being unreasonably torn to pieces and killed in front of your eyes?

I can understand the First Officer’s appeal. Even Samejima is not so good-natured as to remain silent while his fellow countrymen are torn to pieces in front of him.

As a soldier, he also feels a great deal of guilt for failing to fulfill his duty as the ambassador’s escort.

However, Samejima did not overturn the decision.

“No. I will not allow any unauthorized shots to be fired. I can’t start a war here by myself, can I?”

”However, the ambassador for establishing diplomatic relations was killed here. We must retaliate against this treatment! The spirit of the Ambassador will not be forgotten. Does the captain not have a human heart?”

“Let’s go… How does it look to you?”

There was no expression on Samejima’s face as he answered. Absolutely no expression at all. The expression on his face as if he had frozen as if at absolute zero.

The First Officer saw this.

A man named Samejima is not the kind of man who hides his emotions. He is a free man, the very embodiment of a man of the sea.

If he wants to be angry, he is angry; if he wants to cry, he cries; if he is happy, he is the first to laugh; if he is sad, he is sadder than anyone else.

For such a man is not showing any emotion at all now. No, we are not supposed to let them out.

“Do your duty as a soldier, First Officer. Soldiers don’t need emotions.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Her Excellency Führer will understand. Then I can proudly carry Her Excellency’s flag on my back and strike a blow at those barbarians.”

Even Samejima is not happy to be left to the mercy of these obviously insane barbarians. There is nothing more pathetic than seeing a soldier turn his back and run away.

But still, a soldier must do his duty as a soldier. We must not start a war on our own without the consent of the Nation, much less the Führer’s will.

“Alright, full speed ahead, we’re leaving at full speed. What can a rowing galley do to keep up with this ship at 20-knot.”

Chiyoda withdraws to the distant sea while spewing black smoke.

Seeing that, the beastkins roared.

“Uuooo! did you see that? they ran away even though they were on a ship that big! You wimpy bald apes!”

“After all, the Beastkin is the superior race! kill the furless apes! otherwise, enslave them!”

“Can you even talk to such an ugly creature! here’s only fight!”

On each of the small boats, the beastkin raised their battle cries.

They are intoxicated. For a fleeting victory.

Just a few dozen minutes later, far to the west, radio contact arrives from various directions on the Yamato mainland.

That is not to say that the ambassadors sent to the Beastvania Beastkin Country were killed.

The ambassadors sent to those other countries, the Great Moruro Empire and the Dark Elf Empire, were also brutally murdered in the same way.

Only the Kingdom of Balka has succeeded in establishing diplomatic relations.

The Yamato Empire, which had some idea that the other party was a barbarian, but did not expect their ambassador to be killed so easily, held an emergency Imperial Council meeting in response.

Various officials had gathered at the Führer’s residence and were about to hold talks on the Eastern Continent.
