Living Together With The Goddess-Sama. (Part 2)

Mikoto-san says that this house is the only place she can go to.

What did she mean by that?

Does it mean that she was evicted from her previous home?

If so, why?

Many questions came to mind, but then Mikoto-san let out a cute little sneeze.

The heater wasn’t turned on.

I had just returned, and Mikoto-san probably didn’t know where the remote control was.

The digital room temperature gauge on the wall showed 3°C, indicating that the room was quite cold.

Moreover, Mikoto-san was only wearing a school uniform.

It was as if she had walked all the way here without a coat or scarf on such a cold night.

Seeing Mikoto-san shivering slightly, I hurriedly offered my own black down coat to her.

“You should put this on for now. It’s strange to wear a coat inside a house, but it’s better than nothing until the room gets warmer.”

“I don’t need it…”

“You’ll catch a cold. Maybe you don’t want to wear a coat worn by a guy like me, but please bear with it.”

“I don’t mean that. I just don’t want to owe you anything.”

Mikoto said in a trembling but clear tone.

She doesn’t want to owe me anything, huh?

I don’t think borrowing a coat is really that big of a deal

So I wondered why she said she didn’t want to owe me anything.

I thought about it for a moment and then said,

“To make you owe me one, you know, that’s not what I meant by giving you my coat. It’s my house, and I don’t like having people shivering in the cold in front of me because it makes me uncomfortable.”

“It’s not my problem if you feel uncomfortable or not. Besides, I’m not feeling cold at all.”

Mikoto-san held her shoulders with both hands and said that in a muffled voice.

I don’t believe her, there’s no way she’s not feeling cold.

I mean, my teeth are shaking and my face is already getting paler than it was a moment ago.

If I stay in this condition, I’m sure I’ll freeze to death.

Puzzled, I spoke,

“I beg you to take it. This is a favor from me, so you should rather think of it as me owing you, Mikoto-san.”

“But…”

“Ahh, I think a blanket will be better than a coat? Which would you prefer?”

Mikoto-san looked a little hesitant, but then whispered, “Both.”

I nodded and pushed my coat to Mikoto-san first, then pulled a blanket out of the closet and handed it to her as well.

I told her to sit at the dining table, and she gave a small nod and sat down on a chair.

I took the remote control for the air conditioner from under the TV stand and switched on the heater.

Next, I opened the fridge near the dining table and peeked inside.

I wanted to give her something warm to drink.

I looked back at Mikoto-san.

“Do you want to drink cocoa or hot milk with honey? If you don’t like milk, I can make you coffee.”

“I-I don’t want you to do that for me, Akihara-kun.”

“I want a drink because I’m cold too. I’m just giving you one along with mine. Besides, it’s only right that I serve drinks to my guests.”

I tried to reduce her psychological resistance by emphasizing the “It’s just along with mine” part.

To be honest, I am preparing the drink for Mikoto-san, and if anything, I feel like I would rather have a drink too.

If I said such a thing, she might say again, “I don’t want to owe you anything.”

It seems that the ice goddess is not good at accepting people’s good intentions.

Anyway, Mikoto-san is still a guest in this house.

She says she is going to live in this house, but it hasn’t been decided yet.

I don’t know about her situation or even anything about her.

Mikoto-san looked down and answered shortly, “Hot milk with honey,” to which I replied, “Right away.”

I poured the contents into two mugs and put them in the microwave to heat for one minute.

This was about the right amount of time to drink it warm without burning myself.

Then I went to the bathroom. I had already cleaned the bathtub this morning.

I set the temperature a little hotter and began to fill the bathtub with hot water.

It would take a while to get this one going, so I left it alone.

When I came back to the kitchen again, the microwave had just finished heating.

“Please have it.”

With that, I offered the mug to Mikoto-san and joined her at the table.

Mikoto-san sipped from the mug with some hesitation.

Seeing her, I felt a chill run down my spine for a moment.

Mikoto-san’s moist lips were touching the mug that I usually use.

The sight of Mikoto-san drinking the milk was also strangely s**y.

As I was thinking, I guess, a goddess looks beautiful no matter what she does, Mikoto-san then murmured.

“Delicious.”

“It’s just hot milk.”

“But it tastes so good, probably because I was so cold just now.”

Saying this, Mikoto-san put her hand over her mouth with a shocked expression on her face after realizing her mistake..

I knew it was a big lie that she was not cold.

But if I pointed that out, she might stiffen her attitude again, so I didn’t say anything about it.

Instead, I said something else.

“I’m filling the bathtub with hot water. I think it will be ready when you finish drinking it, so you can use it after.”

Mikoto-san said she had nowhere else to go and that she would live in this flat from today on.

If that meant she had nowhere else to go, she would surely have to take a bath here.

The bathhouse is quite far away, and besides, she would get cold on the way there and back as well.

“But…”

Mikoto-san seemed to think about it for a moment.

Although Mikoto-san might not feel comfortable taking a bath in a man’s house, she would have to use the bath here every day if she really was gonna live in this apartment.

“The best way to warm yourself is to bathe in warm water!! Don’t you agree, Mikoto-san?”

“…Right.”

At last, Mikoto-san nodded her head in an honest manner.

After that, Mikoto-san seemed to realize something and looked a little troubled.

“Akihara-kun.”

“Hmm?”

“I don’t have any change of clothes.”

Not only was Mikoto-san not wearing clothes suitable for winter, she also didn’t have any luggage of any kind.

What was really going on?

It’s not normal for a high school girl to be thrown out on a winter night all by herself.

“I can at least lend you a change of clothes. In return, can you tell me the reason why you decided to live in my house, Mikoto-san?”

“I’m your cousin, Akihara-kun. We are distant relatives.”

Mikoto-san put her mug on the desk, looked at me with her blue eyes and said so.
